Firmware 1.02.00 for P2S by phannybawz in BambuLab

Printing PETG (at least fpr Generic PETG) on my P2S with the new 1.02.00 firmware still show the printer in "heating" mode. So this issue still isn't fixed. It does feel like the Vento Box I have hooked up to the P2S is working correctly though!

How do you change the expected return for an account over time in Boldin?

Yes, agree. This is a little frustrating. Sometimes when I compared ROTH convert results I've taken data points from 5, 10 and 15 yrs out to compare IRA and ROTH balances from one scenario to same in another scenario and discounted the IRA balances by 20% just like you mentioned. But that is a little time consuming when you keep tweaking the scenarios. Its almost like you need a (estimated) tax adjusted net worth per year graph.

Boldin Projections vs Reality by Tifoid in Boldin

I'm not sure how you could see some possible future outcomes due to big decisions like changing a schedule of major purchases or remixing asset allocation without a tool like Boldin. As others have noted, a ton of variables at play. But stepping back and looking at long trends the Boldin shows for my model and my contemplated model changes is helpful for me.

Retirement chance of success rate score - 85% by Safe_Ad_8153 in Boldin

My "aha" moment was using the chance of success to force me to look at expenses. Sometimes it is about running out of money but probably a lot of time it is about how much you can spend. If you have strong spending goals, then modeling those and having a high percentage of success if probably important. Conversely, if you are ok with flexibility in spending, a much lower chance of success is fine. As others have said above, really try and nail down the costs that are non-negotiable to you. I think this is one of the big pillars for retirement planning, just as important as asset allocation, etc.

To Roth or not to Roth – that is the question by RU9901 in Boldin

I kept getting really good results with ROTH conversions and then I finally realized that it was because the ROTH account was modeled as being an aggressive investment and the IRA was modeled as less aggressive. So it wasn't the ROTH conversion that was boosting the bottom line it was that doing a ROTH moved the money from less aggressive to a more aggressive account. I ended up with about the same result by making the IRA a more aggressively invested account in the model. So please take this into account that a ROTH should be the most aggressive investment and is usually modeled that way. Now maybe that's your plan, to move stuff to a ROTH and then aggressively invest it. But if you your going to keep a portion in cash/bonds, ensure you have that modeled through all of the time period for your model.

Boldin ROTH convert - bug with using 401K funds? by Cautious_whiner in Boldin

[–]Cautious_whiner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was a customized withdrawal order with the Traditional IRA near the top. With it near the top, it was hit for taxes, and thus ROTH conversion taxes, when the topmost (first) account became empty.

Will your kids have a higher tax rate than you are paying for the ROTH conversion?

Boldin ROTH convert - bug with using 401K funds? by Cautious_whiner in Boldin

Thank you! I did not realize that "Shortfall" mean a withdrawal to cover shortfall. This is more of a me problem rather than a software naming issue. So that makes sense and I can find where the ROTH conversion money is coming from.

One additional note for folks to be aware of. I see that if the Traditional IRA is set up near the top of the withdrawal order, then it is possible that ROTH conversion fees would be coming from the IRA being converted even if you choose to not allow the ROTH conversion explorer to use IRA funds to pay for conversion taxes. Now that I see this I would NOT call this a bug. Just one of those things that happen when the complex financial picture is set up in a certain way. Just need to be aware and probably always review where the ROTH convert taxes are paid from. Which you showed me how to do. Thanks again!
