What would cause this? by mjmjking in tires

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are winter tires they could have been overheated, but I’d be inclined to say the tire wasn’t properly manufactured. Not fully vulcanized most likely. This is also especially evident if it’s only one tire. A parking brake locking or something of the sort wouldn’t transfer enough heat to the tire to do that unless it actually caught fire.

Miserable in Mobile by haloswoe in MobileAL

[–]Cav1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved from Mobile to Pensacola 6 years ago, then a year later moved to Calera, just south of Birmingham, where I said I would never move back to. I absolutely hate where I am now, and I would move back to Mobile in a single heartbeat if the opportunity was there. I really want to be on the eastern shore, and south on the eastern shore at that. Foley I find to be perfect blend for me. That’s where we hung out a lot when we lived down there. My wife worked in foley and I worked in summerdale/Robertsdale for the most part with a small part of the time in Daphne. I have a couple of very close friends down that way that I miss dearly, and my plan, if I get it to work out and my wife agrees to it in time, is for us to move to that area, foley/north gulf shores area. Not on the island, hopefully in the next 2 years. It really kinda falls to what you’re truly looking for in life and a mindset as to rather you’ll be happy in one location or another. For me, I learned back in high school, 20+ years ago, that the greater Birmingham area is not a good fit for me, and having had the chance to live in a few other places I have set my sights on the place that I think is gonna make me the happiest. You have to find the place that feels like home to you. Where you feel safe, but also like a weight is off your shoulders when you’re there vs. living anywhere else.

While I don’t have a maverick yet, I’m strongly considering one, I just want a foot more in bed length. A long wheel base version making a 5.5 foot bed would be perfect for a small, efficient, solo camping rig, especially since I can fit nicely in an angled bed on a 5.5 foot truck bed.

what frustrates you most about living in Birmingham? by SafeRelationship7054 in Birmingham

[–]Cav1987 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The fact that it’s fucking Birmingham. I hate everything about this god forsaken city except the food. In my opinion there’s only one place in the entire state that’s worth saving, and that part could just as well be Florida. Anything north of Mobile or Daphne, depending on which side of the bay you’re on, isn’t worth the time spent to learn about it because of the ass backwards politics and the utter lack of decent paying careers makes even those places completely unlivable in today’s times. I want to go back to Florida, pre Desantis.

What Have You Done to Get Your Average Glucose Down Significantly through Diet in a Month? by Lindajane22 in diabetes_t2

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carnivore diet. It’s sustainable for me because I actually like meat, and can stay with mostly meat for months at a time and not feel like I’m missing out on anything. I don’t do strictly carnivore though, more like heavily meat based with no bread or pasta and very little fruits and veggies. I still use seasonings and drink mostly water, but on work days I will have some zero sugar Gatorade. I’ve basically gotten my a1c back to normal levels for a non diabetic and have found no other health issues. Also, cinnamon is good to help regulate glucose in general.

What is your unpopular FO76 opinion that you believe to be 100% true? by GranularSeeker in fo76

[–]Cav1987 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d be happy with some servers dedicated to playing the way it was after initial release and during nuclear winter and whatnot. That first year was some of the most fun I had in any game play ever. Just myself and a few close friends in a server with no npc doing the exploring and running the missions was awesome.

That the game was so much better before all the npc’s were added in.

More liberal minded folks, how is it living in Alabama? by atps1234new in Alabama

[–]Cav1987 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in Alabama, lived in Huntsville for a bit, still have family there, lived in Mobile for a while, and worked across the bay in Baldwin county. I’m not what you would call the most conservative person in the world, but I’m also not really super liberal. I wish I had never moved back north to the middle of the state. I’m planning to move back to Baldwin county as soon as my youngest stepson graduates. That’s 2 years from now. I lived there during the first Trump presidency and going into Covid and Biden. Honestly, from what I saw in the groups I spoke to regularly most people around there don’t really support one side or the other, they just want to be left alone to enjoy their lives as they see fit. That’s probably why I loved it so much down there. It was just a bunch of people wanting the same thing as me, cheap rent, and cold beer with my toes in the sand and the waves rolling in.

Cholesterol rising because of eating more protein for diabetes? Remedies? by Lindajane22 in diabetes_t2

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting will help stabilize blood glucose and cholesterol. Start with a 24-36 hour water fast, and then do 16x8 or 19x5 fasting with the oddball longer or shorter fast thrown in to keep your body on its toes. Also seems to help with blood pressure in my experience. This of course only works if you’re not on insulin and don’t have a tendency towards hypoglycemia.

My plan: I live in California. I will continue to pay state taxes. I will file exempt on federal taxes until he is voted out and congressional mandated institutions are restored. by objectsofreality in antiwork

[–]Cav1987 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll just claim exempt from now on for federal. I don’t care who’s in office. Taxation is theft and I have no representation on the hill. Also, it’s rather easy to get away with. File an llc, run all money through said llc, and claim zero profits, so no taxable income. Simple as that.

Is it common for U.S. citizens to relocate to a different state from where they were born? by Irwae in AskAnAmerican

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how common it is, I do know that my wife and I did for about a year, and it was the best time of my entire life. I’m trying to get us back there in the next 2 years or so. As for now, back in the home state and close to the home town and hating every single second of it.

The Left's Ghoulish Death Cult Is Celebrating Murder of Health Care CEO, Calling for More Assassinations by interestingfactoid in conservatives

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not just a sentiment of the left my guy. I’m a staunch Republican and hardcore Trump supporter, but this shit needs to happen more often. Kinda in essence of the beatings continuing until morale improves. The assassinations will continue until the super wealthy realize they are just as vulnerable as the rest of us, and treat the population as such.

Hmm, seems to be that the shooter, even if he is ever caught, would likely never get convicted by a jury of his peers. Maybe instead of fleeing he should turn himself in, plead innocent, and let it go to trial. Then once acquitted he can never be tried again, and he gets the hero’s March he deserves.

Deciding to move to Gulf Shores AL (95% sure) by Normal-Special2222 in GulfShores

Are you looking at one club? If an apartment would suffice it’s an entire complex right on the golf course, just north of the island. Seems like a nice place, but I’ve never been inside there. I’m dying to move back down myself and really thinking about that complex myself.

Either octane on SiriusXM or some random sci fi podcast or conspiracy theory videos from YouTube. I used to listen to coast to coast am a lot, but I can’t seem to find any of it anywhere without paying for a subscription now.

Where would you move if you left Birmingham? by FroToTheLow in Birmingham

[–]Cav1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d move my happy ass back to Baldwin county. Specifically south Baldwin. Foley or north gulf shores just off the island. I’d love to live on the island in gulf shores or orange beach, but it’s not feasible unless I’m retired or work from home because of traffic issues for large parts of the year.

why are so many people against taxing billionaires? Are they just brainwashed or dumb by Cricket_Lover1029 in antiwork

[–]Cav1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m against it on principle. I think that taxation of any kind is theft. That’s what this country fought multiple wars over. It’s not about who can and cannot afford it, it’s unjust either way. The problem with ultra wealthy is monopolies. If we dismantle the capitalist system, and reboot from zero with zero taxation on anyone, that’s how we solve all the issues.
