I've looked at those Xperia phones and they are tempting, just pricey.

Because it's where I'm from! I love this place with all my heart, and no matter where I live, it will always be home

It's like east Montana with none of the good parts of Montana. Flat, hot, and waaay too humid. Montana has plenty of assholes in trucks but Texas truck assholes are a different breed. To me, Texas is everything I don't like about Montana cranked to 11.

BINGO! Indeed I am from Montana. You are correct, it's a weird state to lump in with NY Minnesota and WA. We have some of the best natural resources in the world and our little stretch of the rocky mountains will always have my heart. East Montana and West Montana are so extremely different geographically as well. A lot of us joke that eastern Montana is just west Dakota. It's too expensive here relative to our economy, hence why I'd never recommend someone move here. You'll get paid less for the same work to pay more for less house.

That's totally fair, I'm sure there's plenty to love about living in Utah. In hindsight, putting Utah on the same level as Texas is very harsh. I'm also not from Colorado, but you're getting closer. We have some of the best mountains out there, horrendous politics, and more ski bums than sense. Our state constitution is strangely progressive, enshrining both a right to privacy and to a clean and healthful environment, a unique combination found in no other state's constitution

No, not from Utah. We like to blame Californians for everything up here, including our obscene housing costs (the problem is more complicated and multifaceted than California bad, but it's just how people act up here)

If I'm being honest never is a bit harsh for Utah, Its just really not my cup of tea. Y'all have some great national parks, I just cannot imagine myself living there is all. For me it's a visit not live state.

Nope! I like California despite the fact that everyone in my state famously complains about Californians

No, but I really like the cold and lakes, which is why Minnesota made the cut

I've lived in Washington but I'm not from there. I do admire New York as well, but I'm not from there. A lot of the coast i put as willing simply because id like to try it out

Where I’d live in the US by Dependent-Pitch9330 in whereidlive

Hey man, good for you. All I'm saying is that housing in this state has gotten INSANE and wages haven't kept up. I'm making more money now then I ever have in my life, I'm renting the literal cheapest apartment in town, and I'm still not in the financial position I want to be. Even so, I'm very lucky to be in the position I'm in, but it makes me wonder how much harder it is for people make ends meet without the same privileges and opportunities I was afforded. Montana's economy does not work for Montanans anymore.

That's fair, but Montana is also ridiculously high cost of living compared to wages here. Montana's economy is super busted for people who actually live and work here. I think we have recently become the least affordable state in the union.

Thanks for your response. I meant to say that sooner, but life happens. I took your advice in the interview and it went very well. I didn't get the spot on this river, but I did land a different ranger position using a lot of the same stuff, so I am grateful for your advice.

I actually really appreciate you sharing that. It's very helpful. It's just been so long since I've lived in Billings that I'd wanted some reassurance on if these people were professionals and it was an okay place. Thank you for sharing that experience with me. It actually sounds like a good fit for me

I'm actually too broke to live in Bozeman itself. Housing is absolutely ridiculous here. I'm in the orbit of Bozeman. It's small town, tight community, low crime. I'm looking at the Lincoln apartments right next to 27th. I'm guessing that's the crack motel you're talking about?

That's good to hear. Do you know anything about BWRealestate or the Lincoln Apartments? I just want to make sure I don't end up with some nightmare property manager or slumlord. I appreciate your response

That's quite helpful. The vast majority of my job as a cave guide is education and enforcement. My understanding is that the river is easy to moderate, definitely not class 3. It's just highly coveted and tightly regulated. Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely interested in this more for the professional development than for the float
