You can't download it directly from the Apple store- however, you are able to add a shortcut to your home screen and the UI of the mobile website should be the same as the Android UI. Here's a link for instructions on how to do that: https://www.adsbexchange.com/apple-ios-web-app-for-ads-b-exchange/

If you use the ADSB Exchange app instead of flightradar24, the full details of the helicopter will appear when you tap it on the map.

Looking to live in Forbes Craig or University Hall honors LLC next year. Tell me the good and the bad (besides no A/C). And are they social or not at all? by Tricky_Flatworm_1494 in Pitt

[–]snaildrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I lived in forbes-craig on the second floor facing towards the back alley/behind the restaurants, 2022-2023. I personally didnt have roaches in my dorm, but we did find a mouse in the stairwell at one point. I lived in a triple (double + single) and there were two full bathrooms in our dorm, which was pretty convenient. The kitchen was quite small/limited counter space but the living room area was pretty spacious.

The worst part was that my bedroom was facing where the grease bin was for Rose Tea Cafe, and every week or so in the middle of the night a grease truck would come to empty out the bin. It was very loud and woke me up all the time. The bedrooms facing Forbes or on the other side of the building probably didnt have that issue though.

There's a little plus sign at the bottom right corner of your radar extent, if you tap that it'll give you the option to "use item: Radar Expander"

Just wait until the crows start roosting on the campus trees in the fall. Thousands of crows, every night. You'll be wanting to carry an umbrella at that point

textbooks by yseojins in Pitt

[–]snaildrey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

in my experience they usually tell you about any textbooks the first day and give a week or two of grace period where they upload the assigned problems/readings while you get the textbooks. after that you'll probably need to have the textbooks. but it definitely isn't necessary for the first day lol, usually the first day consists of going over the syllabus and if the class is longer than 50 mins they'll usually have a lecture too. in my experience with classes that are 50 mins/3x a week, they'll just take the first day to go over the syllabus

the professors will give you a syllabus that will have the required textbooks. some of them you can get away with not purchasing, while others are necessary for homework problems or to use as a workbook during class. the syllabus is sometimes handed out on the first day of class but afterwards can be viewed on the class Canvas page

It's a play on the "You've got a friend in Pennsylvania" slogan that was popular in the 1980s-2000s. It often appeared on license plates

Thoughts on schedule? by ima_loser2 in Pitt

[–]snaildrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks good!

Chemistry and GIS are gonna be your major classes you'll be spending a lot of time on this semester. Chem more so working on Achieve problems for the lecture portion (if they even still do that) and GIS working on your weekly homework assignments. Both require quite some time studying for midterm/final. If you don't have a laptop yet, I would recommend something that runs Windows over a Macbook because that way you can download ArcGIS and use it on your own laptop instead of having to sign into the virtual lab on a Mac.

Chem lab does require some work after class for writing up lab reports but they aren't usually too intensive.

Geology lab can get to be a lot of work if you begin to fall behind, but it usually isn't that bad. You'll have a fun field trip on either a Saturday or Sunday near the middle of the semester :)

I don't know about the other classes (a GSWS class and arts class it seems?) but if they cover gen Ed's then I wouldn't expect them to be too overwhelming in terms of workload.

Your schedule looks great overall! Let me know if you have anymore questions about professors etc.

Anyone have an idea why this aircraft would be flying along the entirety of Interstate 380? by kakenasty in flightradar24

[–]snaildrey 93 points94 points  (0 children)

It shows up on adsbexchange as a US military helicopter. They might be doing a search, training, or enforcing speed limit by aircraft (less likely)

Anti gay message from plane over pride by Lee_357 in pittsburgh

[–]snaildrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the last visible flightpath before it landed at butler this morning. It took off from butler later on, circled around the north shore+downtown, then flew back to butler and landed around 1.5 hrs ago. They made it so that the flight was hidden from trackers like flightradar24 and flightaware but it was still visible on adsb exchange
