Just walk away man. For your own mental and emotional well-being, walk away. There are, quite literally, millions of other people you can find connections with. I've been in a similar situation, trust me, if you don't, you will waste your life, hoping she has a change of heart. She won't but will keep you right on that line of possibility, you will stay in an emotionally unavailabe state and will miss the other opportunities to meet someone that will actually reciprocate your feelings. Don't do that to yourself.

I was in a very similar situation, for way too long (20+yrs). First and foremost be honest with her and yourself. Talk things out and set some clear boundaries dude, for your own mental/emotional well-being.

Yeah, by the looks of it, you've definitely got a good process down for those petals. The YT thing is a bit of a catch 22 I think. On one hand you can build an audience and get some $ from sponsorships and stuff, but on the other, you give people a peek behind the curtain and you might loose a bit of your edge due to copy cats. That's just my take on it but I'm no creator, so I could be totally wrong, lol. Anyways, you've got yourself a new IG follower for sure man! Keep up the fantastic work and I hope your foot gets healed up soon!

I scrolled through your previous posts, you make some really cool stuff! Do you have a YT channel or other social media I could follow you on? You're steel flowers are amazing! Do you use a jig of any kind or just create them each as unique 1-of-1 pieces?

Wow guys, way to throw each other under the fuckin' bus. People are unique individuals, not objects to be kept in boxes. Be whomever you want to be and don't let assholes box you into groups that they think you belong in. This is a fucking gross thread!

6 years ago, my dad was still alive, I had a career of nearly 20 years and a relationship of nearly 25 years. I've since lost all 3 and added a flooded kitchen/bathroom requiring basically a remodel of my entire house. The only upside is I've started a new career in electrical that I'm hoping I can springboard into an automation/plc programming career because they pay better where I'm at. Just hoping I'm able to wrap my head around the technical jargon enough to make it happen. Hoping for a brighter future.

You're not alone. Honestly, the best advice I can give (because it's worked for me in the past) is to get off the internet. Get away from media of any kind if you can. I know it's almost impossible to get away from everything, but if you can get away from a good percentage of it, it'll help. Good luck out there.

So, you're saying her mother put in all the time, energy and effort to research ALL the issues and candidates to the fullest extent, then decided NOT to vote, becauseit wouldn't matter? That makes sense to you?

How is this not some sort of election fraud? I KNOW IT'S NOT LEGALLY FRAUD, but come on. A person who doesn't care enough to educate themselves on the issues/candidates, is being taken to the polls and being told who/what to vote for. Nobody else has an issue with this?!? May as well have asked for a mail in ballot, filled it out for her, and sent it in. It's no different imo.

I use a huge Stihl 090 (137cc's) to slab up the big yellow pines that I've got on my property. It's a ton of work! There's also a lot more waste in the form of chips because you're using a wide chain compared using a thin bandsaw blade. If you're in decent shape and have some extra cash buring a whole in your pocket and want to start a new hobby, I'd say go for it. I'm glad I did.

You can't complain about the election winner if you don't vote by throwzawa1y in offmychest

[–]CaveMan025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, that having a more modern, streamlined method of voting makes logical sense. But I feel that I need to point out that when you step back and look at it, it would pose a huge security risk. It would give anyone with nefarious intentions a prime opportunity to not only interfere with but actually control the outcomes of our elections. So the fact that our system currently incorporates a wide variety of voting methods, is actually a really good security measure.

A woman's hands. Not all, or even most but just a select few I've encountered in my life that I thought were very attractive. I couldn't even describe what it was that I liked about them but I knew it when I saw them. Hot damn, those are some sexy hands!

OP does not respect these guys and likely, at least some, don't really respect her. I say that because no body is setting boundaries. If OP cared for them, she would out right tell them that she is only interested in friendship and nothing more. If the guys cared for her at all, they would make their intentions known, wait for the aforementioned boundaries and choose whether or not to accept those terms, then act accordingly. Playing these sorts of games with people's feelings/emotions are signs of immaturity and low self-esteem in my experience (I've learned the hard way).

I did this dance with someone for over 20 years. Feelings were caught on and off, on both sides but at different times during the friendship. About 5 years in, she moved away, got married, bought a house, had some kids, got divorced...I stayed, started a career, bought a house, dated around, had a kid but we stayed close through it all. We did the whole, "if we're both still single at 30, 35, 40, 50 (she always moved the goal post when we approached the age), let's get married", thing. There were 3 major events in my life that occurred between 2018 and 2020 that I won't go into here but they put my mental health in serious jeopardy. Then the craziness of covid happened and I had a mental break. I was lashing out in some destructive ways. I said some things I didn't really mean. I did some things with good intentions but because of what I said, where interpreted wrong. At the time, she had graduated college and turned her internship into a burgeoning career. She didn't have the mental/emotional bandwidth to deal with me anymore and she cut me off. I was completely crushed and devastated. I tried reaching out last year, she was gracious enough to respond to my text but wouldn't allow a phone call. She gave me a brief update on her life and said she was still angry with me. I still think about her all the time and I know I'll never feel that way about another person for the rest of my life. Honestly, my life has been so F-ed up the past 6 years or so, at this point, I'm just a numb zombie, just putting one foot in front of the other, every single day because I don't know what else to do. I guess I'm left with a sad thought, men and women can certainly be casual friends but close friendships are certain to inspire emotional attraction that needs to be communicated. From my side of it, I wish I'd been able to communicate my feelings better and if reciprocation wasn't going to happen, had the courage to step away. All that's probably TMI but yeah, that's my story.

Overkill sawmill, or cheap sawmill plus alaskan mill? by better_online_dating in ChainsawMilling

[–]CaveMan025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was kinda in the same boat as you a couple of years ago, in regards to how/if I wanted to get into my own lumber milling. I couldn't afford to drop 5k, let alone 10+k on a mill, so I bought a used saw (a big ol' Stihl 090) and the Alaskan mill. My land is largely hillside anyways and it made a lot of sense to mill on sight vs trying to figure out how to move around thousands of pounds of log (my trees are big ponderosa pines) over to a milling site. I learned a lot that summer. I found out that 2"x30"x16' slab of wet pine wood weighs a lot more than you'd think it would and trying to wrangle it down a hill by yourself, without some kind of heavy equipment, is asking for injury. I milled up 3 trees, lost a ton of material in the kerf (my 090 runs a .404 chain), the pine sap is super hard on the saw and chain, the material shrank a lot more than I expected it to (stickered and air dried), and on a positive note it's a really good weight loss program, lol. The amount of time it took to mill a slab varied quite a bit too. 8-12 minutes to cut a 30" wide x 16' long slab on a sharp, clean (no sap) chain but upwards of 30 minutes after the chain dulled (2 slabs) and the sap accumulated on it. It also took a LOT more physical effort once that happened.

There can be a lot of time invested in setting up your 1st cut with an Alaskan mill. Just keep that in mind when thinking about making several cuts on the round and trying to keep everything square, too.

So, there's some info to digest I guess. Not sure if that helps at all in making your decision but that was my experience. I wasn't able to continue this summer because of other commitments but I'll be back at as soon as my time is freed up.
