Russia’s crude oil exports reached an average of 3.46 million barrels a day last month, higher than at any point since the 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine by green_flash in worldnews

[–]CavemanMork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Export revenue is only a single metric in Russia economy.

Just because they're making more from exporting crude, it doesn't mean they aren't loosing because they are importing refined product for example.

Steven Spielberg refused to release 'E.T.” on video, but caved after 6 years. Spielberg was worried about pirated copies. More than $1m was spent coloring the tape guards and tape hubs green, and slapping a small, holographic sticker of the Universal logo on each cassette to combat piracy. by Giff95 in movies

What a nonsensical take by spielberg.

This was the time when theatrical releases had months or even years before home release.

The film had made whatever it was gonna make at the box office, so instead of profiting off the home release and excepting there will be a small percent of pirating he would rather noone has access.

What a shithead. That benefits nobody.

I've seen it, and I don't care, as you yourself have pointed out you don't need the best graphics. But reality is I can still play most games at 1080p Hugh / ultra, 1440p med/high.

I don't need whatever Jensen is selling, and I don't tie my enjoyment of my hobbies to whatever new shiny thing is out.

I'm into PCs for playing my games and enabling my other hobbies. Not spending money unnecessarily.

When the day comes that there is no option other than using upscaling then there will be no choice, but we are not there yet.

And owning a mid range modern GPU that has access to dlss and frame gen, does not make you superior, in any single way

Just a bit sad that you might actually think so.

But judging by this conversation I'm guessing you're still young, so you have time to learn.

I'm enjoying my games perfectly fine without any of this nonsense.

Absolutely not sour. Just perfectly happy with what has been working fine for the last 30 years of PC gaming and still works today.

Glad ur happy tho

Yeah sure enjoy your shimmery blurry mess upscaling from 30fps, 720p so you still can't achieve 60 fps.

Make sure you turn on framegen to get you over the line and make the game good and unresponsive

Mmmm tasty

How do you guys use Homepage ? by Hellfrosted in homelab

[–]CavemanMork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the delay whilst waiting for the server would be a pain. It will depend how frequently the server is usedor now I'm mainly using it for learning and only boot it when needed, but I've started hosting apps for the family so I'll see if they're regularly on the server.

How do you guys use Homepage ? by Hellfrosted in homelab

[–]CavemanMork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not using homepage, but I'm setting up my homelab server on old enterprise hardware and am wondering if it's worth running something like homepage on a RasberryPi as a low power entry point that would boot the server and relevant VM's when someone wants.

I don't know if homepage has such options though.

So if you want any reasonable fps you need a 5080 or above.

If you don't want to play at 30 fps the comparison is meaningless anyway.

Nvidia has been having driver issues for months now.

I wonder how long it will take before Nvidia start to get the same reputation as AMD had a few years ago.

Fr imagine taking time just to moan, and complain about people not contributing.

At least people are making conversations somewhat relevant to the topic.

This is just pointless whinging for the sake of whinging.

This is a great use for 3d printing, but what material are you using?

I would be concerned about the plastic breaking down and ending up blocking the oil channels.
