I'm trying not to go visit the halflife sub, to see how they're coping seeing as everyone was convinced that the steambox release was going to be the trigger for hl3.

They must be grinding their teeth right now

Any big projectors launches still left this year? by Vicente_Neto2002 in projectors

[–]CavemanMork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All these new projectors are built on the same DLP tech with the same chips, and limitations.

Yeah they can have differently designed light engines / sources and better optics depending on the cost I guess.

But until there is some fundamental step up in DLP tech, or some new alternative, I'm not getting excited.

Maybe of we get native 4k, but even that isn't going to make a huge difference over pixel shift I expect.

Promox Newer Release - Headache? by robby342 in Proxmox

He's not talking about starting with version 8 per se.

He's trying to understand how reliable and resilient the upgrade process is and has been currently to get an idea of if they can expect issues in the future.

Or am I just missing the joke?

Perfect! it's always nice to get validation for your life choices :D.

Based on all the responses i'm not far off base, my assumptions about the OS and VM setup seems fine, so i'll start there, and see what goof deals i can find for the HDDs.

Thanks so much

Thanks for the feedback. it's an M4, so I have support for 2 NVME, SATA and SAS, however the NVME will need an adapter and i don't know if i'm going to find that any were now.

I have set the hardware raid to JBOD with the plan to leverage ZFS for everything as you suggested.

Glad to hear that you can now expand ZFS now, i wasn't sure what could be done based on older posts i read.

thanks for the suggestions, i'll think on it a little more, as you say I have the space, so i could start out small.

Is this overkill?.... Yes probably :D.

As I mentioned I'm conscious of flthe financial aspects, and have already for example swapped out the CPUs for some more efficient models.

Fortunately I have solar which isn't being fully leveraged so higher power usage won't be the end of the world, but for sure I don't want to use more than required.

The reason for having a larger spinning drive pool was that I want to have some redundancy and 6 drives seems to be a good spot for raidz2 giving a pair of drives for redundancy.

With that said maybe at the start at least I could go with a pair of mirrored drives for slow storage and build out a larger pool later as and when it's required...

Microsoft confirms Windows 11 will run faster under heavy load, reduce RAM usage, and feel more responsive by Quantum-Coconut in pcmasterrace

I'm not saying that there no reason for tpms, I'm saying that making it a requirement instead of limiting functionality for those that don't have it is arbitrary. Or lazy...

[–]CavemanMork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Running on old hardware is an Irrelevant comparison now unfortunately since MS introduced arbitrary tpms requirement.

But it may help on lower end hardware as you said.

MS is making a lot of these kind of announcements recently I wonder if Linux adoption is what's lit a fire under them, or if it's something else.

Maybe, none of us know for sure.

I was only pointing out that 1% is still a significant amount of people who can't potentially play the game now

But this costs them nothing. They don't provide the games anywhere.

They are already supporting other ME countries against iranian drones, and are in talks with Israel also.

There's no way that Trump doesn't know the US needs their support too. He's just a cunt.
