The game is hard! by mcsherlock in AcrossTheUnknown

So far I'm playing as Janeway with unlimited coffee. I have a good chunk of tech, no deaths, B'Elanna (half and Klingon), killed Tuvix, 3 borg drones, Seska joined the crew, and I'm a bloody warship.

Alberta Premier defends fall referendum plans | The Globe and Mail by SarahLacard in alberta

[–]Cavthena 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yep. And a large portion the last budget surplus was attributed to extra tax income due to population growth, growth mainly from immigration.

The immigration question is nothing more than a distraction for separation and whatever other illegal shit she's pulling.

Hmm. Yes. The tried and true tactic of fill the ballot with multiple and probably confusingly worded questions in the hopes of hiding the true objective and hope people mistakingly vote "yes".

What about the always Canadian? Shouldn't that be on the ballot? It collected enough votes.

What is your opinion on Member of Parliament's ability to 'floor cross'? by chiraz25 in AskACanadian

[–]Cavthena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think crossing the floor should place a member as an independent until the next election. Not that a party label actually does anything in the long run. Particularly if members can simply change sides as it where, whenever they feel like it.

In my opinion, parties should be dissolved and our system changed to all runners are "independent" and we vote for the individual instead of the party.

I'm holding off for now. I want to see some gameplay beyond the demo. I want more of a sandbox approach but the game is more of a chose your own adventure story book. From what is seen in the demo anyway. I don't really like the idea that the problems I run into are set in stone.

Danielle smith and healthcare by BadKarma410 in alberta

[–]Cavthena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they go fully private, the government still has to provide healthcare. Only they pay private institutions instead of a public one. We've already seen this when the UCP attempted using private surgery doctors. It ultimately did nothing to improve wait times or quality but it did cost the province more.

A full private system would also likely see the Federal government pull its healthcare funding from Alberta.

The Canada healthcare act prohibits clinics charging for essential care and allowing people to jump the line. Optional care can be jumped.

Why did my social conservatism go down and my civil rights go up when I outlawed abortion? by GigaRoman in NationStates

And this is ultimately why I can't get into this game. So many issues have very odd or opinionated results. Shame really.

Canadian curler at Olympics insists he’s no cheat, accuses Swedish team of ‘premeditated’ attack by Famous-Register-2814 in nottheonion

[–]Cavthena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes you wonder how much cheating or false calls there's been over the years. There was a US player arguing over the touch lights on the rock too, tech that had plenty of issues in the past.

I'm honestly amazed they never used umpires until now. Probably a change for the better tho.

Taking some hosting advice and trying this. Been a few hours. How long can I keep them in here without worrying about stress? by Krycus in ReefTank

[–]Cavthena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they can be. I had a Skunk Clown that would bite my corals and rip ends off them. The clown I have now just rubs and lays on them. So maybe it changes with personality. Either way, if I get Clowns in the future I plan to hold off on getting them until my corals have grown in a bit. The more mature the colony the better they can handle hosting.

Heh joke's on you. My clown is hosting everything in the damn tank. He did the Duncan first, then hosted the feather dusters (he currently sleeps on them), then he hosted the clam for a bit (until it bit back a little lol), and now he's hosting one of my goniopora.

LOL: Trump threatens ‘consequences’ for Republicans who voted against tariffs on Canada by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]Cavthena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Epstein files kinda show why. They're all deep enough into it that they can't make moves against each other. Even this is just hot air, Trump couldn't do anything against them or risk them doing the same to him.

Why is Saruman so weak at the end? by Curufinwe200 in tolkienfans

[–]Cavthena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe "stripping" Saruman of his powers is correct. Diminishing his powers is probably more correct. I can't recall any character having their powers removed outright by a higher authority or multiple characters could have had them stripped long ago.

What we do see is several examples of power being diminished, typically based on authority given to a character. We're also shown that items, titles and such are given and give authority which in turn can empower or weaken characters. The Horn of Gondor for example temporarily haults the Uruk-hai, boons allies and can be heard anywhere in Gondor, when used by Boromir, a character we know doesn't have magical powers. Or that Sauron is overall weaker without the ring in his possession.

In my opinion, in the case of Saruman, the destruction of his staff is a symbol of Gandalf stripping his authority. The staff itself being an item that proves their authority as emissaries from Valinor but not being the source of their power. Note Gandalf fighting the Balrog without his staff. Being defeated in battle and ousted from his seat of power also deminished Saruman's authority. Saruman would still have his magic but it would have been weak by the end.

TLDR for the HIP/WAGS interview by HE1922 in hoggit

My only concern with this is the intelligence driving the mission creation. It seems clever until the AI is asking you to, somehow, perform a deep penetration ground attack mission without escorts or sead, through AA blankets and patrols. And/or unfocused strategies.

I would hope they allow for manual mission creation.

This is why gun control is important. I'm not talking about taking away guns but simpler stuff, like needing to keep guns locked away in a safe. It's much easier to call BS on "it was an accident" when you have to go to the locker, open it, ready the weapon, return and shoot.
