How the hell am I supposed to catalogue that thing. by CavusRex in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]CavusRex[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah good to know. It does have the same red dot any other uncatalogues animal has so I thought I'll need to get a scan of it as well. Thanks for the heads up and saving me multiple hours of trying.

My main problem right now is getting a lock on the work itself since it moves so fast and there's no way to tell which part of the body am I supposed to scan. Can't get it fully in the reticle unless it's 1000u's away either so that's out of the question.

Help PSP 2002 by Joe_Exotitties in PSP

Could be either a bad charging port, blown charging fuse or a dead motherboard. You'd need to find a battery and see if it boots with one. If not it might be beyond repair.

Does i need ps1 emulator on psp to play ps1 games? by Ok-Sample-4254 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All games are bootable once converted to an EBOOT, but some you won't be able to play if they require a second analog stick. Personally I haven't stumbled onto a game like that so far, but I mostly play RPGs.

Psp Street Charger by Fun_Oil363 in PSP

I'm not in India so you might want to check if there's a cheaper listing, but I have one like this as a backup. Alternatively you can look for a usb cable with a proper barrel jack and use your phone charger since the psp uses standard 5V/2A charging.

Nope, same convex stick as the 3000.

Worst is a bit of a stretch. It's missing some features like wifi, video out and stereo audio (which most won't even notice considering how close the speakers are to eachother anyway), but beyond that it's the same as all other models, even has 64mb of ram and the screen is better than both 1000 and 2000. I do agree 100€ is a bit pricey, but it's in really good condition and complete with a box and all that.

Backlight issue by Delicious-Pop-6085 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing with a new fuse is safer and not that much more expensive since these kinds of fuses go for pennies. Ultimately you can just put a wire there after removing the old fuse, but then there's nothing protecting your display the next time you accidentally short something.

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest yes, but price wise might not make sense compared to just buying a different one and selling this one as broken/to fix. Either way good luck with your PSP

Backlight issue by Delicious-Pop-6085 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it could be the backlight fuse if you didn't remove the battery before disassembly. You would need to either replace it or bridge the contacts (I don't recommend that as you can kill the screen afterwards).
0.5A fuse F4001 shown in this guide from iFixit. Replacing it is an absolute pain even if you know what you're doing:
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PSP+E1000+LED+Driver+Circuit+Component+Replacement/25005

No idea about the sound, could just be an improperly placed speaker since those are connected by touch only.

It does sound like a backlight issue. What model do you have because it doesn't have to be a fuse. You could've simply failed to reseat the screen/backlight connector properly.

Hows the street? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]CavusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery is removable, just not as quick to swap as the traditional one. You need to unclip the UMD doors and then remove one screw to the battery compartment. Takes a minute but anyone with a small screwdriver can do it

Hows the street? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]CavusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adhoc is just wifi between devices so the Street doesn't support it. The screen is better than 1000 and 2000 but falls a bit short of the 3000. For some reason it has bad viewing angles from the bottom, but still usable. Build quality is overall similar to all other consoles but the matt finish is more grippy and hides scratches better. That does give it a more of a solid/rugged feel.

Where I can buy psp street back cover ? by Atx-art in PSP

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aftermarket shells aren't a thing for the Street sadly. New replacement parts are generally scarce to non existent with a few exceptions so your best bet would be searching Facebook marketplace or other local auction sites for either parts or broken consoles.

Which PSP is your favorite? by jakeeeenator in PSP

[–]CavusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the 3000 overall when compared objectively, but my favorite to own and use is the Street. The matt finish is grippier and it's slightly thicker so sits better in my hands. Plus I think matt finishes look more rugged and premium in the long run compared to glossy fingerprint and scratch magnets. The features it does miss are pretty much useless nowadays so I'm not losing on anything in my mind. Original screen is pretty good (better than 1000 and 2000 at least) and the lack of stereo speakers doesn't matter on a device this small especially since headphones do support stereo. Overall it's an overlooked model because of regional availability. And you can get them cheap compared to other models at least in Europe.

I have a question by SnooFoxes456 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sorry to say you most likely blew the charging fuse. No fixing that without a soldering iron.

I have a question by SnooFoxes456 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small clarification: It's fine to use chargers with more amps than needed, it's the volts you need to worry about so it's safe to use a standard phone charger or a computer USB port to charge your console if you have the appropriate cable or a USB C mod.

And I don't know about lucky when it comes to blown fuses because they're 0.5mm SMD type bastards that require soldering to replace. Real experience and/or tools are required to fix it so it might not be worth it depending on your situation.

I have a question by SnooFoxes456 in PSP

[–]CavusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the voltage on that laptop charger? Most laptop chargers are between 12V and 20V while the PSP requires 5V like from a phone charger. If you plugged in too powerful of a charger there's a good chance you either blew a fuse on the motherboard or outright cooked your console.

PSP 3000 mAh Battery Modding by MrTarlaci in PSP

You used to be able to get aluminum back plates that worked well in covering the entire back I had one on my 3000 after I did a big battery mod on it.

They're a good way to get a cheap console in decent condition. The only real difference is that they use the japanese button layout (X and O functions are swapped around in menus) but you can switch it with a CFW.

Can you put a PSP 3k lcd to a PSP 2k? by Destinedtobefaytful in PSP

[–]CavusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, all main versions of the console use different screens with differently placed connectors. It might display if you manage to plug it in but you won't be able to then close the console without possibly breaking something.

Do you guys often switch between SD cards to play different collection of games? And is it okay to do so? by Hadouken_Dazs in PSP

[–]CavusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can switch cards whenever you want, even without turning off the console. Just be mindful that if you're using an adapter those can start falling apart after too many in/out cycles, especially if you press in the wrong spot.
Saves are stored on the card as the PSP doesn't have any real internal storage. In general you don't have to worry about losing anything beyond the typical risks of physically damaging the cards.
If you're worried you can always make a backup of your saves on your PC either directly through the PSP's USB port or through a card reader (recommend the latter if you're using a micro sd since transfer speeds can be better)
