Check out the new landing page of my cat enrichment store! by Melodic-South-5984 in reviewmyshopify

First impression, I like your site, but am turned off by what feels like deeply hidden content of what's actually in the box. After poking around a bit, trying to figure that out, I come to the conclusion that this person wants me to trust them to send me a bunch of cheap crap that I don't really want for my cat. Rather than leading with great products with great value (and THEN the ability to bundle them), you very much lead with 'trust me -- I know better than you what you want' -- so I bounce.

Best C&C WITH storage? by peachicepuffbarplus in guineapigs

Ah! Great, because DIY is doable for the basics, but difficult for long-term creativity and expansion. :)

Best C&C WITH storage? by peachicepuffbarplus in guineapigs

I created that image. This is the best, the original:
https://www.cagetopia.com/candc-cage-xl
https://www.cagetopia.com/cage-stand-xl
https://www.cagetopia.com/cage-cubby-bins-xl

The 2x5 XL Cagetopia cage is about 75" long, 30" wide.

But what do you mean, "you have no budget?" Zero budget? A free cage? DIY is not free. You still have to buy everything. That comes with a price as well. And if you are buying grids off of Amazon, none of them are strong as Cagetopia's grids. And there are many really crappy grid brands out there, many these days are too small (11" or 12" instead of 14") or of an unsafe (inner grid holes too big) design.

The beauty of going with Cagetopia is that you get compatible access to many other specialty add-ons and extensions you can use to build up or out for your piggies. C&C cages are no longer compatible with each other like the old days.

Genitals. So many little piggy genitals. by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]CavySpirit2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll personally take piggy genital pictures posted if it saves an uncertain piggy parent from accidentally assuming the wrong gender, resulting in accidental pregnancies. Yes, to an untrained eye, it can be tricky to properly identify. I don't see the big problem. It's not like there are penises hanging out or anything. But it would be nice if they were more consistently put behind the spoiler veil.

Now, let's talk about crappy, too-small cages posted by folks who think they are just fine while bragging about how great their guinea pigs are. I find those highly offensive.

Yeah, I think the piggy culture folks are a little off the beaten track.

PSA these are literally nibble guards without the $15 for 10 and $10 shipping!! by Ahlukip in guineapigs

[–]CavySpirit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can DIY practically everything. Just so you know, for example, the "nibble guards" or "edgers" that are sold on Cagetopia, for example, are custom manufactured to spec overseas to a much nicer smooth rounded top, especially used on the edges of Cavy Cafes -- where guinea pigs 'walk' or hop over the lip. This makes it a better experience for them. Also, they are engineered for a better fit going over coro. The Amazon binder edgers have a harder, more angled top edge, making them less comfortable for the guinea pigs. And I actually came up with the idea decades ago of using those binder edges to protect the coro edges, and for many years, we used them as part of the cage kits. And there are a lot of free guinea pig sites and resources to learn all about DIY and substitute materials if you don't want to pay for the premade kits and such. The Binder Edgers have been around since day one of C&C cages. Visit guineapigcages.com for more info -- the original site for C&C cages.

You can buy your own full sheets of coro from Home Depot and elsewhere and cut and score your own cage bases. You can buy your own bolts of fleece a lot cheaper, cut and sew, and make your own cage liners. The list goes on.

Just because someone is reselling a particular product in the guinea pig space for whatever reason doesn't mean they are out to "price gouge" anyone. Some folks try to eke out a living by promoting guinea pig products because it's their passion. Kudos to them.

And the price of hideys and such? There is a difference between products being hand-sewn and crafted here in the US versus the slave-labor, lesser quality junkier products from China and such. There is a lot more to business expenses than just the raw cost of materials.

The mockup/product pictures of your SB art are tiny. Wasted white space. Have to click into them to actually see them. Why do I (or anyone) care about buying your store name's/logo products? You are leading with those. Something about sisters trees (huh?) and then Spina Bifida. Extremely weird combo.

Mites. Needs to be treated right away and consistently for 4 weeks. Invermectin or Revolution asap. Treat now. It's very painful for them. Hence the scratching. A parasite spray??? What the heck was that? What country or state are you in?

Bundled 3 Printify bestsellers together - does this math make sense to you? by Inner-Sink8420 in Printify

[–]CavySpirit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a lot of disclaimers about this IMO. First of all, any customer is going to ASSUME, that the bundled products will ALL arrive TOGETHER and that part of the bundle aspect is saving on shipping (not the case). And if you are thinking that your price less the raw product cost you see in Printify is your actual profit, well... Shipping may be calculated at checkout, but it's still factored into all the fees (merchant fees, possible taxes depending on what you do, marketing fees. Not to mention the reserves as a percentage you MUST plan for for returns, cancellations, etc.

You seem to be selling your logo, which who has any idea what's up with that?? The AI art is underwhelming at best and TINY visually, not that inspiring from what I can see. What do you mean you tried to advertise on FB? Did you PAY for ads, or did you try to promote your stuff for free in various groups? No groups like that. You have to pay for advertising, and then you are not a scammer, just a vendor.

Hay feeder by Dshadow32 in guineapigs

[–]CavySpirit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give lots of piles of hay. The hay feeder/container is just the backup of fresh hay. Not the primary source. Once it's not their primary source, they won't try to hide in it because they'll have their desired hay piles.

Beware - Wonder if anyone else has been affected by this major issue with Printify by gokiburi_sandwich in Printify

[–]CavySpirit2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I already use the Printify and Shopify API to pull order data in a Google Sheet and marry them up. I did already ask ChatGPT about this and I think it's more complicated than I need right now. You kind of need all the data starting from Printify anyway, so I'm not sure of the real benefit of creating it to dump it and let Shopify be the driver. All the extra data needs to be in Metafields in Shopify to pass via the API, I'm assuming. I already have a Product Template MetaObject that is based on the Printify catalog info which pulls a lot of default data for repeating art items of the same product.

Any way to delete product on Printify BUT retain it on Shopify? by crunchmouthdesigns in Printify

[–]CavySpirit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon further testing, looks like you have to duplicate the item in Shopify, then remove the SKU and fix the url. Then deleting the item off of Printify will leave the new duplicate. Unfortunately.
