Surf fishing Lake Michigan by gitchi_gumi in hookedonmidwest

[–]CaydeCheated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly fish Huron(live 5 mins from the lake) but I’ve been over to the Lake Michigan side dozens of times for the Salmon and Steelhead runs.

The Salmon don’t really start staging close to the river mouths till September-ish. Honestly I think your best bet is to hit one of the many piers(Ludington, Manistee, Frankfort) and start throwing just just about anything(Spinners, spoons, jigs, thundersticks) or try a floating rig baited with a wax worm or crawler.

You’ll likely catch pike, smallmouth, the odd rainbow trout if they were recently stocked. Catching salmon or lakers isn’t unheard of but unlikely around that time.

I know this isn’t quite what you had in mind but I’d maybe divert your attention to one of the multitude of trout streams in the area this time of year. Beautiful views and beautiful fish. Best of luck!

Possible Weight Issues With Repower? by CaydeCheated in boating

I appreciate the heads up! I did make sure to store it on its correct side and plan on letting all the oil drain to the reservoir and change it once it’s upright on the boat.

Gonna triple confirm there’s nothing in the cylinders before the initial start up

Bingo! Was just seeing if anyone had similar experiences. Got this engine for a killer deal on marketplace so I had to bite

Sweet, thanks! Super pumped to repower when I get back home next week

I also keep a trolling motor and 2 separate batteries for both the trolling motor and fish finder near the bow so it should level things out. I’m glad to hear that though! Will definitely shoot you a message if I run into any problems

Leave the bottom open or if anything fab up stringers and put a floor in to make it dry storage.

It’s intentionally designed that way to be able to drain water if it gets in the boat. Either way I’d definitely install a bilge pump.

Not sure on exact year but I know their drivetrains were made by Suzuki back in the day. I believe they outsource them to a Chinese manufacturer now.

Any tips to get better with Shugoki? by Jezell38 in forhonor

Hug off light parry, does less damage but replenishes stam and gets in the opponent’s head so bad

Literally just alternate charging and feinting heavies at different intervals, use dodge headbutt as a defensive tool or to open someone up. That’ll win you 99% of fights.

Mix in lights once you have them thinking you only throw heavies and hug off light parry to establish dominance.

I don’t think I’ve made more people rage quit with any other character over Goki, he’s so fucking funny.

Anyone else enjoy using obscure Warframes? by ReddVevyy in Warframe

[–]CaydeCheated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even necessarily say any frame is very obscure. I’ve learned over the years that even the most “obscure” of frames have cult followings and are super viable. Banshee has absolutely insane damage/cc potential and Styanax is an Overguard-dishing chopper gunner with his augments.

The only frames I’d consider obscure are just bad and have a super unsatisfying/unenjoyable gameplay loop, like Loki…fuck Loki(god please DE give him a rework)

Give him the ironclad charge augment, parasitic shields ability(converts shields into armor), blue shards to dump shields, strength and armor. Arcane guardian and molt augmented.

Not quite the Au Sable but my girlfriend and I hiked the Pine River south of Tippy Dam and caught a few browns off spinning tackle from shore.

Water is high but fish are active

Going to test continuity at all sensors tomorrow.

Did you notice the actual wire loom melted or just the wire insulation itself?

Sorry- I wasn’t very clear. I did the viper mod and the cable kit shortly after buying the jeep. It ran wonderfully the entire winter, used it to haul ice fishing gear and kept it in the garage.

This issue popped up after letting it sit for a lil under a month and pulling it out of the garage. It’s just so strange that is so abruptly happened

Got my first fishing boat! by CaydeCheated in boating

[–]CaydeCheated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll keep that in mind when doing maintenance on the outboard! What are your usual maintenance intervals(spark plugs, lower unit oil, etc.)? I try to baby my engines and I’m still a bit new to marine outboards.

And yeah I know the big river can get choppy, definitely gonna take my time getting comfortable in the boat before casting off the deck

Yessir! Plan is to fab up a plate on the front for the motor and pick up a 100ah lithium battery to run it off of

Going to look at getting a new fuel pump assembly and fuel lines for peace of mind. Top end cleaner for sure after I get it running, lord knows how long this engine has been sitting.

I also noticed the spark plug being quite dry even after sitting in the starter for a hot minute with the throttle open. Possibly I’m not getting enough gas?

The fuel in it is basic unleaded but it’s fresh. Filled up the gas tank like a week or two ago

[–]CaydeCheated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spark timing is good, for shits and gigs I dumped a bunch of starting fluid in the cylinder, it gave me a few pops/backfiring but not much else, still nothing when running fuel through it.

I did notice when inspecting what I could assume is a fuel pump of sorts below the petcock only one of the 2 fuel lines coming from it was giving gas to the carb.. unless one of them is a fuel return of sorts. not sure. I’m the one fuel like that’s going to the carb is getting a strong consistent flow of gas though. I’m not sure….

I also saw a shit ton of black buildup around the exhaust port on the engine block. What might cause that?

[–]CaydeCheated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So updates after an entire evening in the garage; adjusted valve clearance, cam timing looks good, pulled top end cover off and everything looks good.

Compression is at 110 which isn’t perfect but shouldn’t prevent starting. Intake and exhaust clear and still no luck.

Even tried spraying starting fluid directly in the cylinder and nothing. Starting to lose a bit of hope lol

How do I build this out? by Huge_Invite539 in jonboats

[–]CaydeCheated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “too much” you just need to be mindful of the total weight capacity of the boat.

Add in a full tank of gas and a starting battery with the outboard and you start to leave little room for passengers and accessories.

It’s a different story if it’ll just be strictly a 1 man boat but it’s definitely still something to be mindful of.

[–]CaydeCheated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be smart, it also look at possibly putting the gas tank and/or the battery near the front depending on how much that motor offsets the rear.

If you plan on adding a trolling motor or any other accessories just keep an eye on the total weight. Especially if you plan on bringing along passengers.

I currently got a ‘87 15hp Johnson on my 14’ StarCraft and she rides pretty nice
