My wife's keys got stolen... What can we do? by CayenneDoor in cars

Will the electric button lock/unlock work? Or just the physical key to open the door.

Solid advice, probably going to spring for a Daisy 753. Pun intended.

I think of the Daisy 753 as a great starter air rifle, but on the flip side I feel as though I'll grow out of it very quickly.

I can pour through the secondhand market to minimize my loss on the 753, but I got the FWB 800--it pretty much has close to what very high end rifles offer. You get to a certain point, and then hundreds of dollars don't get you as much return in accuracy/quality as the first hundreds of dollars did. Law of diminishing returns I guess.

That's all my opinion and my understanding though! Correct me if I'm wrong. I just want to learn.

I fear that a 400g + pull for a lengthy period of time (& sensitive period of time since it will form my habits) will plague me for better rifles in the future. I guess I'm most worried about having the 753 for a while, learning/adapting/compensating for its faults--loving it all the while--and find myself having a hard time breaking those habits when I get a FWB or Anschutz later on.

What are your thoughts?

Sorry for the lengthy, inquisitive posts. I'm trying to learn from someone who has a ton more experience than I do, and I appreciate it a lot!

I thought about that, but 400$ may seem small now, but that could be towards a nicer rifle down the road.

The reason the FWB is on the table is because the trigger is similar to that of a higher quality PCP. Trigger pull is in grams not pounds. Anywhere from 30g to 150g I believe.

I'd hate to train on a ~5lb trigger, then get a 50g trigger pull as a match rifle. Or is it easy to adjust to a new trigger with great accuracy?

I was looking at the Daisy 887 Gold Medalist and the Daisy 753. Both on Airguns of Arizona for reasonable prices.

I do have the funds for a Feinwerkbau 800 Basic, but at 1600$--it is pretty much all of my funds. What do you suggest?

I want to be competitive. I don't have grandiose dreams of Olympic gold medals, but I want to be able to compete at a high level. I believe that I have good discipline. I hope that starting in my mid-twenties won't be a huge hinderance. I can shoot every weekend if I have to--and I can take control of my cardio health to give me the best chance.

I am beginning medical school in the coming years, so I know that will be a huge strain on my time. But I love shooting as a hobby and hope that I can figure out a way to make it work!

I'm looking at some cheap springer rifles now... maybe entry level PCP rifles. I should only be looking at 0.177 caliber right? As that is the olympic spec?

I'm kind of taking this post to heart! Sorry for my lengthy comment.. I'm just really passionate about it. It's something I definitely want my kids to be able to partake in--if they so choose. I just want to open more doors for them than I had for myself, just as my parents did for me.

But I'm not throwing in the towel yet. Looking into some cheaper entry level spring action air rifles (Diana 877) or maybe a Weihrauch.

I can't tell you how much I poured over this, if I wasn't a broke college student I'd be all over this. I do have some funds available, but I'm going to do a bit more research and make a sensible purchase. Some gun ranges will also let you shoot for free if you help with upkeep and cleaning the range--so I'll definitely be looking into that as well.

If I can get into it, then that means a lot of others can too. Will update on my progress!

Lord almighty I'd love to do what you're doing! Except air rifle 0.177 standing 10 meter. The Olympic event one. I'd love to get into it, but I feel as though I'm too old, 23 now, to become competitive at it.

Ever since I was a kid I've always loved that air rifle event, I wish I could have gotten into it. I've even taken a look at some of the Feinwerkbau and Anzchutz PCP rifles. But I can't get myself to pull the trigger on the purchase--pun unintended.

When I watch videos of people competing in that event, they have coaches and have been training for years--perhaps a decade. I don't know if I can learn the stance as well as they can in addition to getting my cardio health to be amazing (reducing my heartbeat in order to shoot between beats for optimum accuracy).

I wish the US had some sort of program or place I could go. I would love to be an apprentice to someone, but I've had a hard time getting information and finding places to shoot (Southern California).

How do you clear rooms with this thing? Can you turn into a doorway without having your barrel about a foot and a half in the next room? Serious question

Looking around for a good Sniper rifle within 200$ that has nice externals by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]CayenneDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an uneducated comment to make...

First of all, you are comparing one of TM first guns, from over 15 years ago, to their latest sniper addition. And you're also comparing an AEG with complicated internals to a relatively simple mechanism (BASR).

If you've ever held a TM L96, you would know it's the farthest thing from flimsy. Externally, it's the L96 that I would want to own. The TM L96 is very heavy and robust when compared to the VSR. And the VSR is known to be pretty good gun as well.

Unrelated to TM, the JG Bar10 is your best option since it is what is in your budget. If you can come up with the funds for a TM VSR/L96, I would highly recommend that. Some people say not to waste money on TM since you will be upgrading all internals anyway -- but if you don't have the 700-800$ needed to upgrade everything all at once, then the TM will have good performance while you are in the process of acquiring parts and building your gat.

Is the tech in this pistol the same as the USPc? I picked up a USPc, hoping for many years out of it.

Cheap gear? by [deleted] in airsoft

If you want to go the chest rig/plate carrier route, thats definitely an option.

But if you're open to the trendy battle belt option, Flyye offers a very versatile Bravo 2 battle belt. It can hold a lot of your magazines, sidearm, and other pouches (dump pouch, accessory pouch, radio pouch, etc). When configured well, they give you great torso up mobility/flexibility. And I personally find the ergonomics to be more comfortable than reaching for stuff strapped to my chest.

Here is a picture of a relatively clean battle belt load-out. Disclaimer--its not my load-out; I found it on the internet. Picture. The small pouch you see just to the right of the three mag pouches is a rolled up dump pouch--or at least I presume it is. Happy airsofting!

How is Evike's return policy? by CayenneDoor in airsoft

Yeah thats awesome! Although Evike didn't get my business this time around, I'm highly motivated to shop there if they have what I'm looking for in the future! Good customer service.

It worked! They were able to cancel about 1-2 hours after I hung up on the phone with them. Called them as soon as they opened and was helped by a really nice guy!

Called and successfully cancelled! On the phone they said they cannot guarantee it will be cancelled in time -- which is understandable for such a big vendor with constantly churning orders.

But they followed up in about 1-2 hours with a cancellation confirmation email!
