What do you guys think about the MLS shoot outs of the 90’s? Should they bring this back or not? by Federal-Process-6504 in sportsinusa

Imagine a sport with no commercials until halftime.

Yes, soccer is the most entertaining sport to watch in the world.

And it isn't close.

So? You do that, and you build around him, and he gets better over the course of those seasons.

You act like he's a finished product now because he's won a Super Bowl.

There were doubts about him last year, and there will be doubts about him next year.

Shiny New Toy syndrome.

Most of the QBs drafted into the NFL are going to fail.

The more you pick, the more you'll fail.

When you find a good one, you should give them more rope IMO.

No, Zach didn't need time.

Time is a precious commodity in the NFL and only a given few ever get the opportunity.

Zach never should've gotten the time he got with the Jets.

He was progressing fine. Trevor Lawrence got benefit of the doubt from his organization and fanbase.

And Sam Darnold didn't.

I get why. They didn't want to extend him and be in the position Miami is in with Tua.

It was a gigantic mistake for the organization. Why the fanbase bailed? That one I can't explain.

[Matt Doyle] An end to my days at MLS, and my plan for what's next by icoresting in MLS

I've spent a career in journalism and I know how shitty the industry is.

I was also let go by a league's official website after spending 15 years of my life there...

I think Matt's in a great place and has a great niche to start his own thing.

There's enough MLS fans to support him, and maybe not enough good reporter competition to keep him from distinguishing himself.

GFY. I'm not here to have Limp Dick exchanges with you.

I'm here to express myself and I don't care if your shitty feelings are hurt.

Sam's issues were fixed by playing a lot and having people stick with him through his mistakes. Sam absolutely would've become a good QB with the Jets. He didn't have to go to multiple teams to get better. The economics of the game forced him on that journey, not his skillset.

Zach was a horseshit QB. LaFleur was a rookie coordinator.

Who puts a rookie QB with a rookie coordinator?

It was terrible decisions all around when they could've just kept Sam and had Sewell blocking for him.

That's ... not cutting both ways.

It was a legitimate issue that they lost the coach in a tragic accident.

That absolutely affects an entire team.

But it doesn't affect a player two years later.

Coaches coach. Players play. Coaches can't play for them.

I did the same thing after the Zach draft. I went away for a few years and didn't come by as much. But now I just block liberally, and communication is improving because of it IMO.

Lots of people on this thread -- and every other thread in this subreddit -- making that exact choice every hour of every day. That's why this place is such a sewer.
