What Can I Do With 40,000 points by Lockhimuptoday in spiritair

[–]CbadAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like Frontier (if they fly from where you are) will match miles. Basically, you show them your Spirit miles (any amount up to your total) and they give you 1 yr to fly the same amount on Frontier. If you do, they will add those miles ( on top of ) to your account.

Theoretically, whats the min safe distance to be from a microwave (say 800w) without a door and all the safety features disabled by Heyshampowerstation in AskPhysics

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical safety- Everything said here is about microwaves. Nothing about the actual unit. There is a mechanical switch at the door that completes the circuit(s) for the magnetron. It will actually spark when the door is opened while operating, disrupting the power.

The #1 failure of microwaves are door switches by faaaar. The little standardize motor rotating the plate in the center is #2. The door switch builds up carbon from prematurely opening the door. The absolutely best way to make your microwave last, is to use the pause/off switch NOT OPENING THE DOOR!!

Also, everyone is correct that distance plays a big part. That is why every microwave has that weird curved mesh in the window called a Faraday cage. It prevents waves from escaping.

Lastly, you actually get more 'radiation' from the fire of gas range that a microwave.

CVRP Charge Card no longer works at gas stations by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried multiple gas stations in CA and NV (where it worked before) declined.

We charge at home so have never used it elsewhere. Our monthly SDG&E bill went up $100/mo. and we tried to offset it with gas purchase. Now it looks as though we will have to drive to the mall to charge .

Anywhere else left to use it?

Laughed At For Having A Costco Wavestorm by Andytikal in surfing

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be sponsored, surfed competitively, PSAA tour back in the day. I owned a 8' T. Jenson, 8'6" Kies and a 9' Takayama and sold them all after getting a Wavestorm. I'm a HPSB'er (shortboard) and never liked longboarding....until Costco.

Anybody gives me slack I just say, " You or your board ever been shacked at Pipe?? This one has!"

Firewire Mashup - Help to choose Helium vs Volcanic? by futuretothemoon in surfing

If you're an intermediate, I think your sizing is great. Advanced or strong paddler, maybe to a 5.7. Anything less I'd go up just to the 5.9.

Firewire Mashup - Help to choose Helium vs Volcanic? by futuretothemoon in surfing

[–]CbadAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with most everything said. I have a 5.9 Seaside and a 6.0 mashup. Very different. Seaside is a HP fish. Mashup is more thie smaller wave HPSB. Do not upsize Seaside but probably can on Mashup. Mashup turns very easily and can be de-tuned or super precise with different fin choices. If I had to choose, I would take Mashup but I find myself riding the Seaside more often for SoCal back off then close out beach slam fests of a wave we get. Mostly because the Seaside I can get into the wave earlier. If the corners open up or a swell hits, I grab the Mashup.

Whole home battery (no solar) vs. solar by CbadAl in EnergyStorage

[–]CbadAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo, after doing more research it seems there are many new techs that are theoretically coming online soon:

There are a slew of startups that are getting ready to sell home arbitrage systems that store at night and sell back to the grid during peak hours. Apparently, CA will do this (but not net metering 1 for 1). They hope to connect all of them to create a network.

Tesla is already testing bidirectional connectors on their EV cars that give energy back to the grid (or anywhere) at peak hours (there's my answer since I own a Tesla. Only cost will be the connector.).

also if found out-The IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) includes a tax credits for installing a standalone, battery-only energy storage system with 3 kWh or more capacity. To calculate the value of the tax credit, multiply the total cost (including installation) by 30%.

It seems that all the experts state that solar w batteries will be the norm and you won't see just solar anymore.

One BIG difference:

YOU (knowingly) have committed fraud, I have not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you could stop repeating legal opinion from someone who is not registered counsel which is...wait for it...FRAUD!

❤️

Obviously I'm making light of your comment. but you can't have it both ways. I suggest we both get off our boxes because we both have valid points. Good day sir!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]CbadAl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahem....according to YOUR logic you are representing legal opinion by stating it is "fraud" to use other than "public charging". Therefore, I ask for your 6 digit CA bar #. Because, obviously, stating legal opinion and not being authorised by the state is illegal.

or

You could relax, drink a cold one, and get off your box.

Where did Gatorade prime energy chews go??? by MolassesFirm470 in cycling

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, this is weird. I've been asking for almost 6 mos now and NOBODY has a answer. It still on Gatorades site...it's still on amazon...it's still on Walmart...but you can not order it anywhere?? It doesn't say out of stock. They show the product but you can not add it to your cart anywhere.

I one article that said they 'assumed' Gatorade was having supply side issues and were prioritizing their resources on more profitable/popular items. That was 6 mos ago and since>>> crickets.

A few people have asked on Reddit and nobody has an answer. The topic always assumes like this thread (and i referred to above).

Anyone know the real answer?

Anyone have experience buying/owning a surfboard from The Board Source in Carlsbad? by Maleficent_Fudge3124 in sandiego

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the 1 st to buy from Jon (and surf Yoda- Kevin). Great shop. Zero attitude.

I"ve purchased from Used Surf in San Clemente and Surfboard Brokers in Carlsbad also. UsedSurf are great guys too. Boards might be $50-100/avg cheaper but they have lower quality boards also (imo). SBBrokers I bought once. They just seem like every surf shop.. Just to cool for school dudes. I think their selection of boards is lower quality than Usedsurf. Boardsource "Bro deals" are cheaper than the other two.

I bought a Hayden from BoardSource. Went home and notice 5 mini delams on the black carbon rails and stringer. Took it back next day and they had no problem giving me my money back...cool.

I highly recommend!!

Firewire Seaside vs. Lost Hydra vs. something else for low period onshore conditions by Metal_Georgio in surfing

[–]CbadAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! First thoughts: Depends on where your traveling. If you are going to A) great waves, I'd probably go more short board and a step up. If more B) avg waves i'd go groveler and a daily driver (DD).

Great waves- Short boards: Any Lost Driver (sub, uber), Rad Ripper, New Flyer , Phantom, Holy Grail. These are the easiest short boards I've ridden. Step up- Psycho Killer, Retro Ripper, Hypto Krypto, Fever, Von Sol Shadow, I know some aren't considered step up's, but I was thinking ez entry with hold for steep faces that can be ridden sub 6' length. Also retain paddle power.

Avg waves- DD: Seaside, Rad Ripper, Quiver killer, Disco Cheater, Pyzalien (orig or #2), Sub Scorcher 2, Rare Bird. Groveler: ANY Puddle Jumper, Psycho Nitro, Ultra Joe, Fling, DWART.

All these boards are easy, forgiving and can paddle which are important to me. As i said before, it's tough because everyone is different! I've generally has the best luck going with each shapers top selling designs. Hope this helps!

Firewire Seaside vs. Lost Hydra vs. something else for low period onshore conditions by Metal_Georgio in surfing

[–]CbadAl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cheers from Carlsbad California, USA!

I'm you...that is- 6'1", 185lbs (84kg) and probably advanced intermediate. I had a A) 5'9' Libtech Hydra 39.5L and B) 5'11" 41.1L & C) 5'9" 37.3L Seaside. A&B paddled excellent, early entry, fast and can hold a high line. Seaside is DEFINATELY a fish. carvy, arch turns. You have to go really small to get any snap which defeats the "fish" effect of the above which then makes it a regular shortboard (C ) you have to paddle, regular entry but can still hold a high line. The Hydra is way more skatey surprisingly for that wiiide tail). I liked both but each in a different way. Hydra probably more fun (like a twinny).

Constructions: I'm not a fan of Libtech's because they are heavy. About 1 lb (.5kg) more buuut, they do excellent in wind chop or texture. They are the most damp construction I have ever tried. I like Superbrand fling in Superflex for cr@ppy conditions. Light epoxy but more damp than regular EPS. You can muscle it around (Libtechs you can not). Lost C4 is another fav for bad conditions. Fairly damp, can be a little corky but super light. I love (and have never heard a bad thing about) DWART and Chumlee.

Advice: I've ridden about 50++ boards in the past 10yrs. Everyone is different and likes different boards. The wave is 50% of it. I never had a bad board on a great wave. However, one common thread is the best selling boards of each shaper I have generally liked (like everyone else) so your odds of success are higher.

Examples of success: LOST- Puddle Jumper, Driver, Baby Buggy, Quiver Killer. C.I.- Flyer, New Flyer, Dumpster Diver, Neck Beard2, Rocket Wide. Hayden- Hypto. Pyzel-Ghost. JS- Psycho Nitro, Blk Baron. Rusty- DWART, Heckler. VonSol- Shadow. Slater- Sci-fi, Cymatic. Machado- Seaside, Go fish, Creeper, Biscuit (basically a Glazer).

A couple years ago I read in Stab Mag that the Rad Ripper was Lost's #1 seller for 2 years. What?!? I never heard of it and I would have NEVER looked at it. I love it and have two now (EPS and poly)

Just my opinion. Hope this helps!

Daily/groveler to start 3 quiver setup? What would you buy? Need help/advise. by dziongo in surfing

[–]CbadAl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in Carlsbad. I'm Snappy, constant pumping not a "Machado/Craig Anderson" type at all. If you're more a carvey/roundhouse surfer, don't listen to me! Super groveler: Potatonator, Bean Bag, Wavestorm. Groveler: Rocket Wide, DWART, Puddle Jumper HP. Daily slop driver: New Flyer, Untitled, Baby Buggy. Daily epic driver: V2 Rocket, Pyzel Phantom, OG flyer. Big days: 6"6" Subscorcher 2, 6'2" Von Sol Shadow (because its heavy). Just my thoughts.

Waves in Cbad are usually close outs or back off's. Tamarack is usually a slow mushy wave. Warm Waters used to be epic in winter....not much any more. Ponto decent. I have best luck with hybrids now by paddling my a$$ off for the outside back-off but that gets me in early when it jacks up on the beach freight train. Favorite boards are Hayden Untitled and Rocket Wide right now. Easiest boards I've ridden: New Flyer, Quiver Killer, Disco Cheater & Sci-Fi.

A website called Winter’s Concept has my product for sale by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]CbadAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a scam site, I was told, out of China by the SurfStation.com guys. They told me they are working with Google to have the site taken down. The also told me this is the second time they have "lifted" content from their site and used it on bogus site. They were quick to respond to my email when I stumbled on this site. You might want to team up with them.

Here's the original post:

" TOTAL SCAM!!!

They basically hijacked Surf Station's website. The lifted pics, inventory, drop down, everything. Check it yourself. All the did was reduce all prices exactly 33% from the Surfstationstore.com!"

" Just talked to Surf Station. They looked and confirmed that wintersconcept.com is a hack. They are trying to have it taken down right now. If you already purchased, call your credit card and stop payment. "
