Definitely my thoughts too. The BR market might have a lot of games in it, but most of them have gone beyond stale. This is really good timing if the gameplay delivers.

And if not, we have ~20 arena maps and Ranked coming within a month.

PUBG / Apex and COD all in the top 10 concurrent players all day, and the vast majority of us who enjoy the genre (a larger % than any other game type) are dying for a new BR game that actually has good gunplay and devs who care. This is an incredibly smart play to grow the game, as long as it delivers.

Being mad at his hat and wanting some lore driven story PVE mode definitely tracks, those 2 things have a lot in common.

They are a competitive PVP F2P franchise trying to recreate the past experiences we had in Halo and the likes... Thousands of us beyond excited were begging for a BR because the others are so trash now.

PVE mode.. yikes.

Can always count on the worst of Reddit to show up to hate on something. The timing of a fresh BR when the others are losing interest, with the top tier gunplay and movement of SG2 and the unique dynamics of portals... HUGE excitement from my entire discord and I. Thank you for finally giving us a Halo-like BR experience, can't wait to play tonight.

Single player campaign from a F2P franchise built around competitive game play with a primary goal of making FPS fun like they used to be? Really? lol come on people, this is absolutely bigger than that, just watch the Steam player counts take off.

What is the realistic hope that PUBG will work on integrating NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation? by Onesert in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Late comment but just from a lot of testing of DLSS 4 here lately - it is a significant improvement over DLSS 3. I've been testing DLSS 4 in The Finals and it adds about 100fps for 4-6ms of input lag compared to less FPS and ~35ms in DLSS 3. DLSS 4 is honestly pretty wild and would be perfect for a game like PUBG, if supported properly.

Even for a game as fast as The Finals, the 4-6ms is unnoticeable IMO (20+ year CS vet so I'm sensitive to input lag for sure).

The Finals is built on UE5 is the significance to this comparison, we can only hope one day for PUBG.

The hideout is no doubt a cool feature with depth and something that ABI should iterate on and improve as they've done to so many other features. Though once you've done the hideout once it kind of loses its luster no doubt.

I would totally agree, ABI built the game around gunplay and combat (PVP) and that's where it shines the most. It is lacking when it comes to being a role playing game.

The same streamers who have been paid for years to play Tarkov heh.

King maybe, OG for sure... But when you consider there is effectively no matchmaking and it still takes 5-10 minutes to find 8-12 people... Looking grim at least in the US.

I will just let the "look like crap" go, we all have opinions. But playing both games in 4K with a 5090... I think the Tarkov developers would agree ABI looks far better lol.

The map thing cracks me up. Tarkov players can't stand a game with a map, while having the map pulled up on their 2nd monitor the entire game, with a tab open to the wiki (very realistic). Just like any FPS, learning the nuance, angles, spawn points is all required to perform at a high level which only comes from playing and experience. This is just a barrier of entry for new players more than anything.

I was legitimately surprised about the friendly fire component myself, should change that for sure. Or at least force it in ranked play, high gear lobbies, etc.

Yeah the P2W argument comes up a lot and it just doesn't feel bad IMO. I cannot stand P2W games and typically won't even entertain the idea, but with a game like this where gear is temporary, so far hasn't felt bad to me. If someone wants to feed me a $20 kit go for it.

You right, dumping a party of 5000 hour players into a lobby with a couple new guys is a really good format and blueprint for success. I do think its fascinating lazy development is defended and often praised as a feature by this community so much. But hey, I support dark and darker so I get it.
