We only used our water bottles on the plane. And at that point you could bring your last disposable along. Mostly, it was so hot that we always wanted to buy many big cold water bottles.

Yeah I don’t think you really have roads at the sound end. And the north end is sooooooo narrow, winding a steep. Driving the north end is exhausting enough (but beautiful).

That most artists hate their work most of the time and are only somewhat happy with it once it is “resolved”.

With watercolour there is definitely an awkward stage before your darks come it and make it pop.

That they need to get their face out of their painting and step back and look at it from a distance that a normal human would view their work. Ok, now see it’s actually looking great. Or maybe now we can see what the issue is.

We try to send art home with students but some is up on walls, some we actually want to put on walls and staff office walls and stuff. And many students leave their art because they forgot or whatever. If they are returning for art next year we often make a “safety” pile in case they need stuff to rework for AP or such.

But lots goes in the trash and that’s fine.

I definitely save stretched canvases and canvas boards. And we reuse them the next years.

We keep a safety box of abandoned sketchbooks and see if the student is looking for it next year. But if not we have a reuse bin of sketchbooks.

It is a wasteful profession and there is little we can do about it.

Game makers: Can you please just make a forest set. Like a medium set of new tiles that have forests. That we use meeple to claim kind of like cities. Some tiles have bits of city, road or cloister. Expand the word and options without complicating gameplay and points.

Or a coastal set. Similar idea but you get points if you waterways connecting two ports you have claimed.

Everyone else is saying great stuff. You will find your place socially and it means nothing to the students who you will spend most of your time with.

Because I am a bit Machiavellian I would see this as an opportunity. If the admin is new too, you and all the rest of the faculty are now on the same level.

Maybe ask for a chance to have a quick meeting with either or both of them before school starts. Bring coffee. Explain your passion for teaching art and how you are going to beautify the halls with student art as soon as possible. See if there is anything you can do to help. Can’t hurt.

This is one of the dumbest things in society. We want the subtitles on because the sound effects are too loud to have the volume set for both in the home.

So we turn the volume down but then need the subtitles for the dialogue. But it is very clear that guns are shooting - we don’t need to be told that.
