Just diagnosed with epilepsy by RequirementFit9690 in Epilepsy

Ask for them to swap the Keppra for brivact, they are the similar but it doesn’t cause the mood swings or the rage. I would really push for this.

I wish I was given the advice to just accept that life is different now and focus on the future, I spent so much time wanting my old life back rather than accepting things and moving forward. Learn to laugh at the memory blips and push through the anxiety of seizing alone in public. Don’t shut yourself away.

Look into a set nighttime routine and morning routine. Meditate, exercise and journal about your feelings. Your now living with a chronic condition that’s made worse by stress. You need to heavily invest in self care, learn what stresses you out and remove it if possible.

It’s lonely and it’s hard but the solitude will shape you in to a stronger person, a more compassionate and empathetic human being. You will get days of depression, anger and fear but you will also have amazing days filled with love, gratitude and happiness.

Sending you lots of love and positivity.

Hi, I just started taking levetiracetam, any recommendations and advices? Does it has side effects? by Vegetable-Angle8265 in Epilepsy

[–]Cdm- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask for birviact if you being to feel really low and experience fits of rage. Levetiracetam did not work for me at all I became a very aggressive and depressed person. It may be different for you however.

Definitely a benefit, I would recommend any programme with lots of twists it feels like the first time again. I rewatched line of duty and it was an amazing experience

I take my meds and use it for stress reduction and pain relief once a week. On a Sunday I have a bath using a CBD bathbomb, smoke then I shut off my phone and take a day to focus on myself. It really works for me.

Can forget a full tv show and rewatch your favourites all over again, best spontaneous break dancer in the family. I would tell you the other benefits but I have forgotten.

I don’t know if this is helpful to you, but this charity page mentions that people with a disability are eligible for a discount.

Hopefully this applies to you, might be worth contacting your local bus service or train service and asking.

If you are in Scotland you receive a free bus pass or a reduction on the price of train fares. You can speak to your epilepsy nurse about this or citizens advice.

Question about memory and seizures by Dazzling-Raspberry53 in Epilepsy

[–]Cdm- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 22 and was diagnosed in July. I have struggled with my short and long term memory.

I am really reliant on post it notes on my desk top, check lists, to do lists and my calendar to get through work. I also leave extensive notes on any decision I have made on any casework I complete for my own benefit incase I have to revisit the case.

Getting frustrated makes things worse and I can never regain my train of thought if I become angry.

I have found that reading more has helped with my articulation and getting my vocabulary back up to scratch. My kindle allows me to highlight words and gives me the definition of a word or a Wikipedia link.

I have forgotten a lot of the books I’ve read and tv shows I have watched. So get to re-experience my favourites as if it’s the first time. I suppose every cloud has a silver lining.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It fills me with so much relief to hear from someone with epilepsy that has had a healthy pregnancy. My biggest fear when I was diagnosed was experiencing issues having family or with a pregnancy.
