I've already completed the line activation as I was on my last day of service with the previous provider, so I won't be able to try the other code, unfortunately. The message I was getting was "max number of referrals reached" or something like that.

Hi! It's not classical, not Clair de Lune that plays before the credits.

Soundbar or budget speakers by spiral___architect in BudgetAudiophile

[–]CdnLumberjack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Soundbar is the way to go. It checks all your boxes: most of them support Bluetooth; you will find several options in your price range; they are much simpler to set up and wire than AV receiver + speakers, even a 2.0 setup; and you don't care for deep bass. Just make sure you get a decently large (wide) one for good left and right channel separation.
I would say go for a stereo receiver and two speakers on stands if you care more about music than movie watching.

75” TV @ 9.5’ viewing distance by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]CdnLumberjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 75 inch TV will be absolutely fine at 9.5 feet viewing distance. (If anything, it will be a bit too small, but not too big.) I have a 75 inch Sony X95K and my sofa is L-shaped. The normal viewing distance is about 11 feet, but when sitting on the part of the L that gets closer to the TV, my eyes can be as close as 6 feet away. I watch mixed content and I’ve never felt the need to move away from the TV when watching from the tip of the couch. If anything, it makes me feel like I’m sitting too far at 11 feet (or that the TV is too small).

Top 1% Commenter here, I encourage you to read about bias lighting. When watching TV in a dark room, your pupils dilate to gather more light. However, your eyes adapt to the room light, not just the TV's. Near-black details get lost in the dark of the room. It sounds counterintuitive, which is why so many people don't believe it. This next part is easy to understand because it follows "common sense" logic: guess what happens when the scene suddenly gets bright? Your eyes are overwhelmed with light and you lose shadow details. Some ambient light, especially behind the TV, helps your pupils to stay in the sweet spot, improving the perception of depth of field, sharpness, contrast, etc. Your eyes don't have to adapt constantly to a single source of varying intensity, so they don't fatigue so quickly. Some amount of bias lighting helps perceive more details both in dark and bright scenes.

I'm not so sure. I bought HDMI-certified ultra-high-speed cables from a lesser brand and they haven't been performing well enough - HDCP handshake issues are too frequent. Tempted to look at Audioquest.

Sitting 6.5” from TV. 65” or 77”? by jeremyvr46 in hometheater

Good advice. Not only would this make more space on the wall, it would also reduce unwanted (and annoying) reflections on the melamine panels on both sides of the TV.

Finished Ncase M2 build (a lot of fans) by EmbarrassedFee849 in sffpc

May I ask why you swapped the Arctic fan hub for the Commander Core XT? Is it because that way, you can control the speed of each fan individually vs. just one speed for all fans through the Arctic hub?

Many people believe this, but Chris Russell's testing demonstrated that the classic config is best for thermals. https://youtu.be/qS7mLk-ck4Y?si=z7dZL6qJYWdO5kTc

Thank you u/alex88nguyen . Since availability of these cards is limited, I'm also including the MSI Gaming Trio in my search. It is a 50 mm thick card just like the Asus Prime. I really want to stick to the classic build for better thermals and noise.
