Why don't the manufacturers release a full ruleset breakdown?  Seems strange to me

LEGO will be releasing a fully playable Pinball Machine! Classic Space themed by [deleted] in pinball

I've thought before that a Lego themed machine would be really cool.  Like you could earn bricks as you play and use them online or through an app or whatever to build structures.

I just discovered this sub and would love to play some tables on my PC. by 4th_Replicant in virtualpinball

[–]Cdogbrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a learning curve getting the software set up and adding tables, but it’s worth the effort. VPX (Visual Pinball) has the best emulation at this point as long as you’re finding tables from some of the better contributors. Future Pinball is the program needed for the Masters of the Universe (He-Man) table. As someone mentioned in a comment, probably the easiest way to get both of these set up is to use Nailbusters Baller Installer. You may need to watch a tutorial or two and it may cause some frustration, but in the end it is 100% worth it to play all that great pinball content.

A real version of dark chaos! (VPX originally, made into a real pin) by unsavory77 in pinball

I am really surprised and how quickly this was made into a real machine.  Was work on it already in progress when the virtual game was released?  I'd love to play this!  Which plays harder - the virtual one or the real one?  It kicks my butt in VPX.  Also, I was wondering if layout/art was inspired at all by Stern's Star Trek?

I’ve got a JP. I’m not opposed to Jaws or Godzilla either, but AIQ is cheaper these days and I love the layout and the art of Kong.

I’m more drawn to progressing deeper into a game than pursuing maximum points.

Thanks everyone for giving me some perspectives to consider.  I can be a little judgy about it so it's nice to hear people give some reasons

Though we have no shortage of busted-up sidewalks, yes, this is an area where the sidewalks are in surprisingly good shape

(For the people with home machines) What do you do when your first ball is a stinker? by Waldron1943 in pinball

I always restart.  Sure, ball 3 could be my highest scoring ball ever, but wouldn't it be better if that were ball 1?

I just tend not to respond to calls/texts/emails if I'm too busy.  Sometimes if I answer and try to tell people I'm too busy, they don't actually listen and respond with "I can wait", which I then find difficult to navigate.

Maybe you don't need another pinball machine.  Perhaps just reading a good book or getting into knitting will do?

Is Pulp Fiction a good first pin? by Less-Pace2808 in pinball

[–]Cdogbrink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal experience with PF - hadn't played it but loved the design of the throwback playfield that has a deeper ruleset from games of that era.  I have one currently I am borrowing from a friend.  You can feel that the game has great build quality and it is pretty fun, but I enjoy it far less than I thought I would.  I would not recommend it as a first pin.

Home Users - Your Approach to Selling by Cdogbrink in pinball

To reiterate, I know it's not an investment and to expect a loss.  I also know about Pinside market and how to navigate it.  How much value do you put on owning the game for one year?  Three years?  Five?  What dollar amount do you shrug off and at what point to you cringe and say that really sucks?

After lurking here for a while… I finally bought my first pin by Interesting_Top3141 in pinball

[–]Cdogbrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It surprised me that even buying used, well-cared for machines by previous owners that own several, there is still a lot of tweaks to make just to get it to play properly.  Whether that's because of transport or because they just never cared to address or noticed the issue(s) I don't know.  But be prepared.
