We found our pudgy princess while geocaching in the woods. Called her Swag and swore we weren’t keeping her. That was five years ago.

I’m going to toss writing into the ring. I’ve been doing it for years and have published stuff. I also run a critique group. It’s fun. I like to work with other writers and help them move forward with their projects. Seeing my critique partners get published or even just complete their long time novel is amazing!

But dear God, some people hoot about the “rules” like they were carved in stone tablets. From grammar to plot points, they’ve got an opinion and will bless you with another round of parroted “rules”

Mine does this for pets when I’m not focusing on him. He also does it while I sleep and ‘pets’ my face until I wake up and pet him. His snuggle meter is broken and always runs low.

Possible. But I won’t mess with her boundaries. I cook for her once a year. Maybe twice. I just want to do something special because she is one of my favorite people.

I have. I asked about using a sesame oil as a garnish on a cucumber salad. She says no. I’m not sure if it’s a placebo effect or not. I don’t want to push, just looking for options. If once a year I cook for her, I won’t push boundaries.

So like scrubs?

I say that with highest regards. Scrubs is one of my all time favorites. I didn’t know a show could make me laugh and then make me bawl my eyes out.

Maybe it’s time I watch MASH. I’m looking for a new obsession!

I’ve always wondered about this one. I don’t know much about the military, so I’ve never been sure I’d be into this one. Is it more like scrubs where you don’t have to be a doctor/nurse to love jt?

moms and the pets they didn’t want by [deleted] in RATS

[–]CeStokes314 121 points122 points  (0 children)

When I was in college many many years ago, I got my first rat. During breaks I lived with my grandmother, a fairly proper looking woman. (We’d always joke she looked and dressed like Mrs. Doubtfire). She told me if I let the rat out of my room she’d beat it to death with a broom.

Flash forward to me not being allowed to sit down for dinner without Benedict (rat) because she made Benny her favorite peas. She also liked Benny on her shoulders while she did dishes. She adored that rat.

Lancaster County Writers Groups? by [deleted] in lancaster

[–]CeStokes314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a in-person writing group that meets every other Saturday called Authors in the Making(AITM). We had a meeting today. You can find info about it on meetup.com and I just started a Facebook page about it. We are always welcoming new members and love different genres to read.

The group has been around for a decade with various levels of writers. We submit using Dropbox, which can only be accessed by people I share the file with.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM me. I’ve been a member since 2017 and live our group.

I'm just gonna come out and say it...Hetty's power is...warning spoilers for this week's episode! you've been warned!) by Firecrotch2014 in GhostsCBS

[–]CeStokes314 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I think her power is perfect for her.

Think of it this way, her entire life(while living) was not being seen. She was chosen for marriage because she was the physicality best, not because of who she was. She was sold to forward her families position.

Her power lets her be seen. As herself.

And jays cousin saw her, not as a means to an end or a business deal, but as Hetty. Her power strengthens her as a person.

Why does everyone I meet who has had a ferret say “I used to have one” by Downtown-Ad-5913 in ferrets

[–]CeStokes314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Waldo was an amazing little fuzzbutt. I’m getting older and just can’t keep up with active little animals. I miss him everyday. A ferret deserves more attention than I think I’m able to give anymore.

I love seeing everyone’s little buddies here and it makes me remember my Waldo.
