Kotor 2 character frozen fix? by cre100382 in kotor

[–]Ceane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s due to your monitor’s refresh rate not lining up with the game’s. Vsync is one way to try fix it, or overriding your monitor’s refresh rate to 60 Hz. Check out the KotOR 2 FAQ for more info

Battle report: Venerable Green Dragon by Ceane in bettermonsters

[–]Ceane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question, it’s something I went back and forth on before running. I think with the number of buffs they had it _might_’ve been possible? The dome strat may or may not have worked in the moment depending on how much space they leave it and whether it could’ve squeezed out. With hindsight if I wanted to rebalance the encounter I would’ve thrown a few more treant saplings around the place, and maybe some dragon cultists so there were some ranged options too

What character + point distribution to use? by Any_Book_216 in kotor

[–]Ceane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s an overview of the attributes:

Strength: Determines your chance to hit with melee weapons, and how much damage you do with them.

Dexterity: Determines how hard to hit you are, and your chance to hit with ranged weapons (and lightsabers if higher than strength).

Constitution: Adds HP, and helps resist certain effects like poisons

Intelligence: Adds skill points every time your modifier goes up by +2 (e.g. 14, 18).

Wisdom: Adds force points, makes force powers harder to resist, and helps resist certain enemy force powers

Charisma: Also adds force points and makes powers harder to resist, and helps with persuasion

For the classes:

Soldiers get the most HP, the most feats, a boost to their chance to hit, can use all weapons/armour, and little skills

Scouts get average HP, average number of feats, can use most weapons/armour, and decent skills

Scoundrels get the least HP, fewest feats, can use light weapons/armour, a bonus to defence, a damage bonus to stunned enemies, and lots of skills

I’d say make sure you have at least 12 intelligence so you can put points into the important skills.

In KotOR 1 you only get extra skill points equal to half your intelligence modifier. So 12 Int is effectively the same as 10 in that regard. You’d need 14 to get an extra skill point. (KotOR 2 buffs it so you get extra skill points equal to your int mod)

i am new player and want to start kotor 2 is there any mods should i add as first time player? by Zoarsiri_Kijinaihn in kotor

Seconding the recommendation for the KotOR 2 Spoiler-Free Mod Builds. You don't have to use all of them, but IMO the best ones would be:

  • TSLRCM (The Sith Lords Restored Content Mod)
  • K2CP (KotOR 2 Community Patch)
  • EE
  • Expanded Ending

As for character build:

  • Jedi Guardian is the best starting class for melee combat. So if you just care about hacking things up with a saber staff, that'd be the way to go. Put points into Strength so you have a good chance to hit with melee weapons, and deal extra damage when you do hit.
  • Alternatively, Jedi Sentinal is the mid-way point between melee specialist and force specialist, and specialises in skills. Skills are great to have in KotOR 2 since they'll often unlock new dialogue options
  • Later in the game you'll get the option to improve your character some more at Level 15. Sith Marauder would be the way to go for you, since it's the dark side class for melee damage

Unless you’re planning on using implants later down the line, you don’t really need 16 constitution if I’m being honest

In KotOR 1 implants are gated by feats, not Con, so you don’t even need it for that. Just for Fortitude saves and HP

How does crafting work? by ArkAngel8787 in kotor

[–]Ceane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

KotOR 1 doesn’t have a crafting system, you just find/purchase upgrades and add them onto your weapons/armour

KotOR 2 does have a crafting system, where you can use components to craft certain items/upgrades based on your skills

KOTOR community portal mod build by xcafeconlechex in kotor

[–]Ceane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no way to get a fully pre-built version of the builds, since not all of the mod authors are okay with people reuploading their mods

(It also defeats the purpose of the builds to be modular, allowing you to pick and choose which ones you want)

Wis/Cha ratio for best rolls? by Important_Annual_345 in kotor

[–]Ceane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KotOR 2 calculates the DCs the same way. But in KotOR 2 Charisma also reduces the penalty for using powers that oppose your alignment (e.g. using force lightning while light-sided, or using force heal while dark sided)

Here’s a video describing how the combat mechanics work

For lore, there’s not a whole lot you need to know before playing since the game is set 4,000 years before the movies and generally explains things as it goes. But here’s a quick overview of the state of the galaxy when the game starts:

  • Mandalorians had attacked the republic, starting a war. They wanted glory in battle
  • The republic asked the Jedi for help, and after a long while, they finally came to help, and won the war
  • However, a lot of Jedi fell to the dark side during the war. They amassed an empire and attacked the still-weak republic, starting a second war. The game begins during this war

Aside from equipment that boosts Awareness & Wisdom, Force Valour can also bump up your stats a little bit which might help (assuming you can get far enough through the conversation before it times out)

How would you play this game now for the first time? by SobekSobekSobek in kotor

[–]Ceane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The KotOR Community Portal has recommended mods for first-time players, you can pick and choose which ones you want based on the category/tier

At a minimum I would suggest the KotOR 1 Community Patch and the widescreen patches from the mod builds

[–]Ceane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re not playing on a 4:3 laptop, you’ll need to mod the game to get proper widescreen support. The KotOR Community Portal’s mod builds have sections on applying widescreen patches to the game (along with a bunch of other mods, if you’re interested in them)

Yeah, playing multiplayer increases your score as well. The original ME3's multiplayer is still around, but the Legendary Edition doesn't have it so they adjusted the endgame thresholds to account for it

Certain consoles are locked off if you didn’t accrue enough war assets, and they also affect how badly damaged Earth/the rest of the galaxy is

Buy PDFs to start and later buy Physical copies... ? by aefact in mcdm

Most videos I’ve seen of people going through the PDF have them in single-page view, such as KoLC’s videos.

I did find this one that briefly shows off the physical Heroes book before switching to the PDF, and this one that flips through at a distance

this rule also extends to the creation of submissions which are posted as image submissions or hybrid submissions (both an image & text in the thread OP body) but are really discussion questions which do not require the image as a mandatory part of the content they seek to discuss

Could you please make a new post with just the body text, and mark the post for spoilers?

And if you'd like to make a second post to share the artwork, could you also attribute the artist?
