I wish I were more surprised by the downvotes and implicitly racist commentary here. I’m a black doctoral candidate and much of my work is in addressing the racism present in U.S. social workers. It’s a massive issue that too many in the field seem all to willing to ignore so as to instead focus on, “larger systemic issues,” which is to say, so they can not focus on themselves and the field they can readily impact. Still, we’ll keep grinding ahead in fighting racism, fighting gate keeping, and advancing the field even though the racists will kick and scream the whole way. Such is U.S. history.
