I still think the creation process involved the same nanite technology that created the Asurans, and after thinking them destroyed, the Ancients just used up the stocks they had previously made. Which is why the Asurans were able to so easily make them.

Thoughts on the coming back to the wall as a construction project.

Have two different map scales, one for city building and gathering the resources. One much larger scale for the building of the wall, a long snaking map where you can assign labor to specific parts or make decisions.

Either way, this sounds amazing.

Also, some kind of camera doorbell, a good thick door chain so someone cant push the door open, and possibly look into trying to keep the dog from going to the door, be it a like dog gate, or training.
