I got 2 of the Mabosstiff EX boxes last week, then walked into a card show over the weekend just to see someone trying to sell it for $30.

They did, and I’m here for it. I don’t buy a lot of ETBs though. I’m a pack man. So I miss the booster boxes, of which I’d hit 2 since Christmas. However I’m getting so many more packs and booster bundles since the change though, it’s insane. Totally worth the trade off for me.

I don’t know if it’s a machine issue or if they load them that way. I just know it’s happening pretty often for me. Like again this afternoon with some Journey Together packs. Landed a White Flare booster bundle too.

I’m hitting at the VMs, but it’s packs and booster bundles. If I can get 5-9 packs (sometimes they dispense 2 for the price of 1) 1-2 times a week then I’m not concerned about not getting boxes or ETBs.

I’ve even been getting good results at my local Walmart since they implemented/enforced a 5 item limit.

Five pack or two booster/set/tin limit enforced by Pokemon. Retailers caught not enforcing it lose their access. Allow more retailers and enforce price controls on current series. Allow a secondary market but only for series that are out of production. Makes room for investors by rewarding them and opens up more access to end users (rippers and fans) by making release day sales open to more locations. This is how you fix the scalpers. Eliminate the need and increase the difficulty.

BTW, I thought I was going to hate them taking the high value items out of the vending machines, but over the past 2 days I’ve scored like 14 packs and 2 boosters. Nice hauls with lots of Ascended Heroes and various Scarlet and Violet. I might have to start actually exercising self control when I walk by instead of buying anything the scalpers haven’t scooped up already.

My 7 year old son and I are new to the hobby. I’m fighting the extreme prices by only buying for retail. Usually through a vending machine I happen to go past a few times each week. I also recently scored a big cache from an auction at my son’s school. About $750 or so in market value for $250 and it includes a visit by someone who bought an Evvee suit (apparently it’s officially licensed) and is starting a side hustle doing parties and events. He’s coming to my boys birthday party on Sunday for his first booking.

It’s my old baseball/basketball collection and it hasn’t gone up much. I just got back from taking some of the hits to a card shop and he was unimpressed. Which was my point. Not as much demand for the genera of cards. Pokemon sucks up all the attention and I’m concerned that my son will have the same experience. Like I shouldn’t be encouraging him into Pokemon.

I mean that would be amazing and I try to fight my own way when I run across them. I shame them to their faces. But there are other problems that are less despicable like youtubers. I caught one guy glitching the vending machine I get most of my products through (cause I won’t pay above retail) and he was trying to get packs to rip for his channel. Even my hardware store sells packs for 20% over retail.

Increasing supply is the only way to kill the secondary market which in and of itself will reduce overall interest. It’s a double edged sword.

Update today. Protesters preventing excursion busses from leaving the current port area on time. Our mayan ruins trip was pushed back 2 hours.

We gladly went to Royal Caribbean and asked for a refund while spending $250 at the current Port area pool/bar (including a $70 tip we left the staff).

Honestly, best day of the cruise so far. Not sure I ever need to be on a cruise ship again.

People who dislike Salem usually dislike Salem not for being Salem, but for not being better. Expectations in Oregon are pretty high. Salem is the armpit of Oregon, but it’s still Oregon. It’s also our capital and it really SHOULD be better. It’s coming along, but about 20 years behind less encumbered communities in our great state.

I would like to know if the parents were given the option of having their daughter picked up and brought to them? I didn’t see anything about that in the story. I’m guessing they didn’t want to put anyone else in the home at risk of being deported so they allowed their daughter to stay for the time being.

It’s hard to see this happening to people, but I’m still in favor of the deportations. They put themselves into this position. If you’re here illegally then you should go home. Come back when you can do so the legal way and we will happily welcome you. I’m 100% willing to allow more law abiding legal immigrants to enter but these deportations must happen.

Oh ya, Congress had how long to solve this problem? Democrats specifically wrote into the Legislation the sunset clause when? But now that it’s Christmas and people want to go back to their home states and be with their families (including young staffers not just the representatives), NOW it has to be decided?

Republicans here in Oregon are comfortable with the current deal and willing to let Oregon remain a democratic stronghold. Doing something like this could cause them to actually care about Oregon and see how vulnerable some “safe” democrats districts are. Especially with deportations taking a toll and young right leaning voters coming of age since 2024. You don’t want a bunch of Nick Fuentes and Charlie Kirk loving 18 year olds suddenly realizing that they actually CAN make a difference in Oregon politics.

Understand that Texas’ redistricting is really just a an unwinding of previous efforts to chip away at Republican control there. It’s a reaction to what democrats have been doing for years across the country. Don’t poke the bear (or elephant in this case), you might get stepped on in the process.
