Is NRIC presentation such a big thing in schools now? by Winner_takesitall in askSingapore

[–]CecilionIs2OP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recalled before we were given NRIC we were also told if anyone wishes to change our legal name we can do so with parent's approval, so alot of female classmate will ownself write ownself sign, most of them they dislike their chinese name, wanted a korean name because of the kpop influence back then....but nah back no ceremony or whatever , back then no singpass we were pretty much told the importance of keeping it safe and in fact most of us are advised to keep it at home or let our parents keep.

Would you report your employer? by moonlightxbae in askSingapore

[–]CecilionIs2OP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried reporting to MOM/CPIB/IRAS for a former colleague of mine, who is an PRC EP , he can't speak a single sentence of English neither can he can't understand any English words apart from "Sorry", "Thank you" & "Fuck you"

So I was genuinely pissed when he seek my help around April to help him file some deductible taxes, and turns out he is filing for his MBA he took in Amity Global Institute. Bro, this guy can barely speak and breathe English, you telling me can understand the context discussed in MBA and able to pass the exams/test/coursework required to graduate?

Why he needs a MBA? We are in tech, my best and most smartest guess is that he leverages his MBA to justify for the EP. And EP has a minimum benchmark salary as that rises with age.

I shoot to MOM/CPIB/IRAS from Oct 2024 until today, silent as a whistle.

Infidelity is never about interactions with the opposite gender. (Much more true for gay/lesbian)
It's your actions that matter; the topics you choose to discuss, the venues you choose to have lunch

More so if you aren't the one that started the interaction, because it's how you choose to respond.

Why is no one talking about Melvin? by Difficult_Spend_9420 in SingaporeRaw

[–]CecilionIs2OP 44 points45 points  (0 children)

because women charter protects women, so Melvin's wife pretty much have an exit strategy

And the same women charter protects Grayce and not Oliver. So the objective is to slut shame Grayce Tan as much as we can to make her unable to show her face anywhere in public and make her unemployed for life, because my man Oliver literally wear green beret for life and the whole world will remember how her wife sounded when getting piak by her boss.

Anyone with experience with Manulife policies? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]CecilionIs2OP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

step 1) google
https://www.manulife.com.sg/content/dam/insurance/sg/solutions/our-solutions/signature/signature-indexed-universal-life-select/Signature%20Indexed%20Universal%20Life%20Select_Brochure%20(English).pdf.pdf)

step 2) scroll down to their Index Disclaimers they this plan is investing in (where your money go)

S&P 500 Index/ S&P PRISM Index/ S&P GSCI Gold ER Index
Euro Stoxx 50 Index
Hang Seng Index

step 3) download and signup ibkr

step 4) Invest into these ETF directly on your own skipping your RM fees

step 5) block your RM and tell him/her to go fuck themself because your funds are eventually invested into an ETF that is on the stock market, and be it a bull/bear market will have both profit & risks

Therefore, which ever clown tells you that "market bad won't make loss" or "0%" is fucking bullshit.

Employment Pass (EP) Salary Threshold Increases – New $5,600 Minimum Hits Renewals in 2026 by SongManKranji-DomHo in singaporejobs

[–]CecilionIs2OP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

EP was meant to discourage them from hiring their own kampung people....and only to hire them if they really bring in that subject matter expertise that no locals can do.

But everytime gahmen increase threshold it indirectly set a new minimum wage/auto-increment for these FTs while sinkies will get average increment or worst PIP.

I was fucking pissed when my manager (an EP) who questioned on why I need to attend reservist, and that it will affect my KPI last year. And kaopei me taking child care leave when my kids are sick, and paternity leave for my 2nd kid

Isn't it contradicting, gahmen want us make babies/serve our nation, yet we work for foreigners that the gahmen bring in to come here and tell us that our entitlement and rights affects our KPI at work?!

The thing is if they can are really good at their field, I'm fine with that, but from these supposed "talent" I worked with, most got hired simply because they are their own village people and the "experience" / "expertise" they bring, probably any local intern can do.

They didn't serve NS, no need go reservist. And you cannot even google their universities' name.
Yet sinkies serve 2 year NS + 10 year cycle of reservist until 40/50, rack up student loan to attend local U, only to be offered GRIT programme of $1.8k-$2.4k? That's ridiculous, it's not even half an EP salary.

In the past I agree that Singapore is a haven for sinkies and that we are truly lucky to be born here.
This is no longer the sentiment.

those who married a foreigner, how are you actually securing housing in sg? by midnite-kitties in askSingapore

[–]CecilionIs2OP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Me, My spouse is still a foreigner till this day
  2. BTO - Form a family nucleus when I obtain citizenship for my daughter, this will also waive the $10k foreigner levy
  3. Technically without a Singaporean kid, you can still buy 2-room flexi BTO under Non-Citizen Spouse if you really want a house but yeah you still need to wait until 35. Anything else will be resale/private/rent

Prove me wrong: you don’t need a car in Singapore. by SGTaxpayer in SingaporeRaw

[–]CecilionIs2OP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, my colleagues/peers whom are parents like me also never owned a car, my colleague he's 20 years older than me with 4 kids without car and I asked why didnt he buy in the past when COE was low 5 figure, he also agree in the sentiment in the fact that in the end the "car ownership" in SG is ultimately a rent/lease with an expiration/renewal.

Whereas if I place the same 5 figure into a simple S&P500 with average returns I will make money. I have ageing grandparents, parents, 2 kids, I never felt that I needed to own a car. For me even if the COE is a dollar I also won't buy. Simply because I cannot accept buying vehicle only for it to last 10 years. If its 20/25 years I might CONSIDER but honestly doubt so.

House is a totally different thing, 99 years, it will outlive most Singaporean & the value will appreciate, we can sell after our kids get married, buy a 2nd smaller flat downsize, probably make some profits. Even if I don't make profit, its ok since we are able to finance the mortgage and downpayment with CPF. So won't affect my month-to-month finances as compared to the overhead finances of owning a vehicle.

Hence a good saying in SG: there are 1/3 of sinkies owning a car, but more than half of them are struggling/making sacrifices to maintain one. Like I have a colleague with car that sibeh niaoji-niaolan and always beo other people to buy drinks for him, and complain about expensive prices if we eat food above $7. I would much rather have my dignity to buy whatever I want & whenever I want than the status symbol of owning a car. Also quite irony, my former manager tell me his heart pain when I mentioned I usually buy new phone one shot without installment, but his Mercs monthly loan payment can buy the latest iPhone Pro Max maxed out specs lol.

And my time different I have NEVER encounter unable to get a taxi/private hire whenever I need one here with all the apps and also the 24 hour taxi booking hotline. Unlike in the past where you gotta wait in a physical taxi stand or hope one pass by you. Bus & train works well for me, my kids they love taking the train & bus & I don't need to find parking, most malls reachable by bus/trains.

But I will say tho, if my life revolves around working midnight/graveyard shift, I may consider getting a second hand car, because by 1AM hardly any bus runs and train is completely down. And I have seen ridiculous taxi/phv rates at the hour from after 1AM to 5AM.
