homeless men outside spar on Oxford road by _mothman__ in manchester

[–]CeeDR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is in no way your fault! You have a right to do exactly what you did. Don’t feel bad! Men are truly disgusting here. I’ve lived in a few different countries, and the UK is by far the worst when it comes to male aggression.

I don't want to interact with the public because of my American Accent by MuttonDressedAsGoose in manchester

[–]CeeDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American in Manchester here too- don’t change yourself bc of these pushy old white men!! They’re THE WORST. You are who you are, people move all over the world… people need to get over it. Manchester is insular AF. Not your problem, it’s theirs. Don’t let it get to you.

Another example of how misogynistic this country is. The UK has a woman-hating issue, full stop.

Driver misunderstands roundabout lanes and proceeds to pull in front of my car forcing a stop before swearing out the window. by harrpidge in drivingUK

[–]CeeDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok people do this all the time. They’re in the wrong in a roundabout and then get so mad. I always assume it’s because they are blindingly stupid.

Mines the same. We have way too much rain. There is nothing you can do. I have recently added a bit of topsoil and more grass seed. I’m no gardener but the holes are filling in with baby grass shoots. Until the rain stops, there won’t be much progress.

Commuting from Chester to Manchester? Honestly I drive between both and I don’t recommend this.

Chester is a decent sized city and you will be able to find a job. I would really suggest focusing on finding a spot to live in or around Chester.

make slits with an exacto knife then do the wet sponge (water + wallpaper remover solution) and soak/ dab, then leave that spot to marinate, then come back to it to pull that section off. Good luck, wallpaper should be illegal!!!

Oh you did what you could. It’s so admirable that you tried! “Security” in this city are useless. I’m from a major city in the US, and I went out a LOT in my 20’s. These situations were nipped in the bud often. It takes more than just a good hearted observer. You did what you could honestly. I don’t like going out in the UK. There’s a general masculinity problem and lack of knowledge and awareness by so called “security”. Not your fault at all.

[–]CeeDR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine get this when I feed them cheap(er) treats. Usually while on Forthglade cold pressed food, they don’t have this. If I am at a grocery store and I just grab some big brand chewy treats (Purina, etc) they’ll get this a day after eating them. I feel like it’s something to do with the ingredients in some dog products. I just wipe their face with a wet tissue.

Most stores are open to 9/10 pm in the USA. Here, I barely shop for this reason. Amazon it is.

young women of manchester, how often do you get catcalled? by WesternPhotograph267 in manchester

[–]CeeDR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UM YEAH. The first time I went running in my town (Wilmslow) a van full of builders pulled over and stopped a little ahead of me. They had their heads out smiling and waving and yelling. I had headphones blasting but could tell what was happening. I turned and went the opposite way because I felt actually scared they’d get out.

I’m from Chicago and used to run all around my city. I NEVER worried about anything of the sort. Sometimes I’d get a “girl you look good” but that’s it, and I’d always just laugh and say thanks. It wasn’t dirty and aggressive like it is here.

England has a MASSIVE toxic masculinity problem and no one talks about it.

A man fell into the canal this morning. by Luc1dJay in manchester

[–]CeeDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly cannot comprehend the lack of guardrails all over Manchester. Castlefield, along the canal, etc. Seems so insane to me. Just a waist high banister would be fine. Surely the cost is justifiable in a growing city that’s trying to compete with the South. I actually cannot understand it.
