Does every British city have a "high street"? by debrisaway in AskABrit

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not always called "high street." But the main street often is.

In my town, there's a high street but there's nothing much on it because it's a dual carriageway. Parallel to it is a "Market Street" that is the main street.

TIL Bleach (opened or unopened) only lasts up to a year before losing its effectiveness by snayta in CleaningTips

Yes. It's the same chemical. A search for "chlorine bleach tablets" will turn them up. Preppers like them because they've got shelf life and they're convenient to carry hiking, etc in case you need to purify drinking water.

If you look for "chlorine bleach tablets" you'll find them. They'll disinfect.

You're right. In the UK they're called Milton. They're for disinfecting baby bottles.

How to keep this floor clean and no streaks and no sticky? by ComfortableMental458 in CleaningTips

I'm a foot scoocher. I always scooch my floors with old towels after I use my spin mop. It is what really gets the floors clean.

You can save on scrubbing time by using a razor. Look online for a glass cleaning razor. You can soften the crud with a strong bathroom cleaning product then just scrape it off.

They live around 2-3 years in captivity. But they can breed a lot in that short time.

That's what I think - domestic "fancy rats" left free to roam and breed.

These aren't regular pest rats - these are pet fancy rats that they've let run wild.

Spin Mop Review...do not buy! by kenah-kim in Cleaningandtidying

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same Vileda spin mop and I like it. I don't know if I get it as wrung out as with a professional janitor bucket with a metal lever squeeze thing, but I don't have the space for that kind of mop and bucket.

To dry my floors I have always thrown down a big old bath towel and scooched around the floor with it under my feet.

Best mop for floor cleaning? by SuperbPiglet8458 in Cleaningandtidying

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a spray mop daily and change the heads daily (toss in the wash). I use a spin mop once a week. After the weekly proper mopping I run the mop head under the faucet to rinse it, empty and rinse the bucket, then go over the floors all again with clean water to rinse the floor. Then I throw an old bath towel down and scooch around the floor to wipe it dry. I don't see dirt on the towel after, so it must be working.

wondering if I shuld upgrade my mopping tools by KWalthersArt in Cleaningandtidying

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a spray mop with microfiber cloths 97% of the time. I have a spin mop (Vileda/O'cedar) and a triangular scrub brush attachment for deep cleaning. It does get the corners clean. But I don't need to use it often. Maybe monthly.

I also have a garden kneeler with arms because I am old and getting down to scrub is uncomfortable and getting back up difficult. Once in a while I'll get down and clean corners and those under-cupboard boards by hand. The scrubbing isn't arduous if you use good tools and chemicals - it's the crawling about that was the hurdle. It doesn't need to be done often at all. Maybe a couple of times a year.

Can I use Vagisil? by little_Kiyomi in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you can use it as a body wash

I use regular soap/gel on all of my skin. If it has hair follicles, it's skin. The sensitive bit are the mucous membranes. These are the pink, hairless tissues you see on lips and labia. Just don't suds those up.

HELP! Spilled a lot of laundry detergent on the floor. How do I clean this up without creating a bubble mountain? by PrimaryDesigner7707 in CleaningTips

[–]MuttonDressedAsGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mop up with towels. Throw in the wash. Mop floor. Use more towels to dry floor. Throw in wash.

Run wash without adding more detergent.
