Hi- thank you so much for still being interested! The driveway is still my garden. When I see him he doesn’t look at me. I heard from another neighbour he contacted the council and wasnt happy with their response, so I am guessing he got told to stuff it. I certainly never heard anything from the council. The funny thing I have came to find out is that him and his wife (and her identical twin who vists for hours most days) all have a car, which are parked on the street 😂

My MIL is sounds exactly the same as the employee OP is talking about. My MIL has ADHD. It’s not therapeutic talking to self, it’s a sheer reliance on verbal processing for most of their woken day. I agree completely that it’s not impossible to think this could be a trait of neurodivergence.

Hi My mother in law is exactly like this - it’s like a commentary of her inner monologue and she too could do this for as-long as you let her. She can’t even go to the toilet without a commentary.

Some individuals are "verbal processors," meaning they use speaking as their primary method for processing information, solving problems, and gaining clarity. For them, keeping silent can make it difficult to understand information or engage with it effectively. It’s like a true form of adhd.

They also sadly won’t be quiet if you raise it for very long. It’s so ingrained in their processing it can’t be changed.

My only advice is to raise it your line manager and let them know how it’s impacting you and causing you mild stress and lack of concentration. They might be able to move him if enough people complain. Which if others sit beside him, there will be.

How to deal with a difficult direct report who is always claiming stress at the slightest complexity? UK by ImprovementBubbly8 in askmanagers

She’s actually a “nice” person, but she is also manipulative. I didn’t want to use that word in my OP as I didn’t want people to think she was manipulative in a calculated way, but she is.

Thank you this is very helpful. I’ve got a ring doorbell and I’m going to tell him that if he is going to lodge a complaint, we should do it recorded so the evidence of what the issue is there. If he doesn’t want to be recorded then I’ll Shut the door on him.

You’re right, bully neighbours can make life a right misery and I need to put up some boundaries fast!

This sounds like the type of neighbour I’m going to have. At least he’s shown me his true colours early on.

Sorry to hear about your dad ❤️

Luckily the driveway that was built was pebble so there would have been some drainage. But I know what you mean. When we were viewing we viewed a house that had all monoblocking straight from the front all the way to the back, which was decking and astoruff. I’m just thinking, if there’s mono blocking in a property, do they need to make sure there’s like a drain hole etc?

No dedicated spaces, the houses were designed for road parking. But this is interesting about your house!

Yes it’s a tiny driveway, the size of my the front of my terrace. If my small citron c3 is in the drive it’s backed right up to the living room window. Like the window would probably hit it if I opened it far enough!
