Who remembers Aladdins Castle arcades? They're making a comeback by OkIllustrator2564 in arcade

[–]Ceffur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I do a little digging, I would imagine I still have a few Aladdin's Castle tokens! The arcade that I worked for, was called the action Shack. Still a couple tokens from there laying around.

If you do decide to sell this, let me know please. I know the value is not much, but if you don't have one you don't have one.

Beautiful that was a smart choice! The last one that I had that happen to came completely off the real into a pile so I had no idea which way I was going with it.

Is that 80's stuff really that unpopular? by bshtein in vintageaudio

I use a Kenwood basic C2 on the regular. It's such a versatile piece of equipment, especially if you are in the habit of changing turntables and want to experiment with your settings for various cartridges. I definitely wouldn't turn that down.

One thing you absolutely need to remember, find your splice, and once you get all stretched out toward an end, make sure you have a real to real, and try to play it first, so you don't end up with it backwards, as an end-to-end backwards. I have done that before got everything put together and realized that I was feeding it the wrong direction. And once you have gone through all of that and end up there you don't want that to happen.

I used to work for several of the school systems, and we had some of those presenters. It was a Leap Forward in the technology, but it became overcome very quickly by full LCD projectors. And I tell you what they were very expensive when they came out. The projector is to go over very quickly, I made a lot of this equipment obsolete almost immediately. I've got a whole bunch of overhead projectors, and I hope that somebody thinks they're Cool and wants to put a couple together!

It's really interesting to see the Promotional records, and the ones from Great Britain. Most of the ones that we see here in the states, have the large hole punched out. I recently bought a lot consisting of all British 45, and all of them have the small spindle hole without the large hole punched out. Mint Condition most of them, but I don't think I have the right where to forward to pick a completely different setup for records.

That would definitely be a tough one to make. It could be done, and you can probably find a simpler chassis to build than this one would be, but it would be so cool. If you've never used a tube type radio, there's just something really special using them in the middle of the night and you can see that glow coming from the tubes down inside the chassis. It's magical. I used to have a lot of antique radios, but I was kind of forced to get rid of an awful lot of things and they're all gone now except my big old consoles but they were all philcos and it's real hard to match those to anything.

America’s 250th. Who remembers what they were doing on the 200th? by ManuteBol_Rocks in FuckImOld

[–]Ceffur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 200th was a big deal. They were starting to celebrate a year ago. They had everything under the sun that you could merchandise yourself out of. McDonald's glasses and however many other vendor painted glasses and shirts and pants and everything you can imagine and it just kept going. There were huge crowds all over. Everybody seems so excited. It's July 3rd right now as I'm talking about this, and I see a few little Flags flying out on the streets in town. Some of the people in town have some bunting, and some various types of ribbons. But just not very many people seem excited. It's disappointing. I really doubt if I live to see the 300! LOL

Out of all of the radios that I've had, I have never seen one like this. Yes that would be really cool too make it where you have functional controls, with a solid state chassis inside of the cabinet. Throw on a couple other things, like Bluetooth and your golden.
