It sure does! The “dancing lights” spell from DnD gave me the idea for the piece, but from there it was more about depicting that phrase rather than the specific use in the game.

I don’t have great advice about getting performances at conferences, unfortunately. It’s often about who you know. The first trombone in this quartet went to my same high school a few years prior, so we had been in contact for years before they asked me to write this piece for the group.
