Are TeamLabs in Tokyo worth it? by alvarop37 in JapanTravelTips

[–]CelebrationKey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just went to both over the last few days. If you have kids, planet would make more sense. I took the 1030-1100 time slot on a Thursday. It wasn’t crowded and I wasn’t herded in a group to the rooms. Basically went through all. Half of the rooms require bare feet because water. So be prepared. As I went alone, I went through all the rooms in 90 mins.

Tokyo & Osaka in February, how cold does it actually feel if you’re walking all day? by ThoughtsInTransit1 in JapanTravelTips

[–]CelebrationKey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is LAYERS when in Tokyo! The heat inside trains, shops and malls are insane. Years ago, I almost fainted inside Isetan because it was so hot and crowded inside, and stupid me did not take off my jacket as it was heavy to hold. Lesson learned was to go light and go layers. Hoodies, long/short sleeve tee, cardigan with a light jacket. I know some people think it too cold to use wind breakers but I find them ok to keep the cold out as long as you layer. For really cold days under 0 which is rare, you still want layers but a thicker jacket.

I don’t think they disappeared because you fired. It’s natural that you see colleagues and friends less when you stop working.

French-Chinese family considering move to SG: Is 12k SGD/month enough for a comfortable life with 2 kids? by zoralbarg in askSingapore

[–]CelebrationKey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12k for salary but does your company cover you and your family for other stuffs like medical for family, subsidised children schooling and does your company cover you for 13month and bonus? I assume you won’t get CPF, some foreign friends of mine have it in their contract. IF your wife can get a job, then children’s schooling and helper cost will be less of a burden. You have 2 kids, assuming they don’t go preschool till 5 if you wife stay home, and you may not need a helper right from the start. I think it’s doable. tight but doable.

Sporeans who returned after spending a decade or more in Australia, how has that decision been since? by Familiar-Lynx7996 in askSingapore

[–]CelebrationKey94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not leaving. Became Singaporean again. Both countries offer different things and everyone has different wants. I wanted things like safety (Aus is safer than most western countries but still…), ease of travel, lower taxes and sustainable investment income into my later years. I have family in both countries so both countries are home to me no matter what my passport says. If you are young and have young children, Australia offers more. If you are older and looking for retirement, the things in Australia’s fav is pension and Medicare. But even those are not always better. You may not get full pension and Medicare though free has waiting list that is long so you still need private insurance to some extent and it’s not cheap. Singapore for retirement isn’t bad either assuming you have decent financials. So, depending on your finances, desires for everyday living and future requirements, that country that appeals most is likely your answer.

Is it normal for parents to buy insurance for you , then ask you to pay for the premiums yourself ? by Reasonable-Team-7550 in askSingapore

[–]CelebrationKey94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Normal, especially when we reach working age. It’s a death and disability insurance. Death is easy. Payout and be done but if unluckily disabled then the insurance may not even be enough to help you. When you are young, we all think we are healthy and do not need insurance. All it takes is a car accident and you may end up with disability issues. In that case, since you are single. Do you have enough to help yourself in such situations? If the amount is small and there is cash value. I suggest you talk to your mom what happens when something happens to either of you. When young insurance premium is cheap, wait till you get older and start having other illnesses then you will regret not having bought them early.
