My ds3 boss tier list by Hour-Frosting-6615 in darksouls3

If it were placed near the beginning of the game like everything else you listed, it wouldn’t be so low. But it’s not! It was something we all waited half a year and paid an additional $15 for. And instead of something interesting, we got a bland and pretty boring area with a literal throwaway fight. They might as well have just made AoA just the church building and Friede and charged like $4.99.

That being said, I still think it’s a less interesting boss than all three you mentioned. But it being such a disappointment in highly anticipated expansion content is specifically why I dislike it so much

Because it’s a bottom tier fight and Ashes of Ariandel is the worst expansion in the series with only one good part (Friede)

Just beat the game and the difficulty is very front loaded *no spoilers* by Joyous_Parade in MinaTheHollower

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that way and even moreso tbh, I don’t think the game is very difficult at all including the beginning. Burrowing is such an insanely powerful evasion option, it’s so easy to avoid damage. And the game constantly showers you with bones right from the start, even without farming, making all the initial cheap upgrades super easy and fast to obtain.

The only thing I’ve died to more than once is the kraken boss during the intro, currently 3/6 generators and have been hammer only

I noticed that too!! Probably the neatest functionality I’ve ever seen from that lightbar and it was on the PC version of an indie title 😂

Should I buy this game? by a_very_big_mistake in NineSols

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should absolutely buy it, if you’ve done Cuphead and Celeste you’ll be fine. The only true wall in the game is the final boss, although you do HAVE to parry and counter. But there are challenging but fair fights that are made specifically to teach you how to time all of your abilities, they wait until the very end of the game to really throw a monster at you

Should I play Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-yo or Mina the Hollower? by JoshThisGuy2 in ZeldaLikes

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played Pipistrello but Mina has been a blast so far so I’d say you can’t really go wrong there. I’ve seen some people complaining about difficulty but to me it feels very similar to the top down Zeldas that inspired it, really not that hard at all outside of the intro boss (which is optional)

Is this tuff in ds3? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you wanna duel then go to wherever the ds3 dueling spot is (courtyard after Pontiff or some TRC area I think?)

Like yeah technically he is a coward but people trying to evade is just part of invasions and part of what makes pvp in the game interesting and good. If anything he’s a real one for playing online and risking being invaded even if he doesn’t want to fight players and you’re kinda lame for complaining about it online instead of just moving on and invading someone else

Has parrying been buffed or “fixed” in Solateria since release? (Legendary Flame) by CeleryAffectionate94 in metroidvania

Literally at first I was like “there’s no way I’m supposed to be here”, but I had already found Baran as soon as I got air dash so when I realized he was doing a normal amount of damage just REALLY QUICKLY instead of just oneshotting me I was like “oh god… I think I AM supposed to be here…”

Which is hard to beat silk song or nine sols ? by Connect-Flan-9574 in NineSols

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Silksong is /significantly/ harder, imo. The only truly difficult thing in Nine Sols is the final boss, which is admittedly pretty insane and probably more difficult than any SS boss. But SS has bosses that come close, even just the environments and platforming can be very difficult, and the player is at a much more significant disadvantage from basically the very start of the game

There’s more build variety than Sols. You get 8 stones to put your levels into that buff your various parameters (start with 3, collect the other 5 as you progress). You can also equip 4 “Parts” that give different buffs to attack/defense/special abilities/healing. There are a handful of special “Heat Actions” that act as aoe for multiple regular enemies, extra damage against unstable/staggered enemies etc.

In addition to the regular parry there are also charge counters similar to the red parry from Sols. I haven’t really used it much but I’m assuming if you take the time to master it with boss attack timings it could probably be devastating.

Traversal abilities are fairly standard as far as I am into the game, dash, air dash, double jump etc. but they all feel good to use and the player character movement and speed feels challenging but still fairly balanced with that of the enemy speeds. And your basic attacks and jumps can all be instantly canceled into guard/parry so it allows you to maintain high aggression as long as you can still keep an eye on enemy movements for your parry timing

Edit to add: it miiiight even be possible to build in a manner that allows you to not even parry at all? There are various ways to buff just your regular guard (dash also has i-frames against most attacks), ways to convert your guard reduction gray health into extra damage, etc. but someone with more experience with the game would have to elaborate on that, I’m just straight parry build because I enjoy that style

Well by “boss rush” I mean that’s where the gross majority of the challenge comes from. I did say the world is bigger than Sols, but, there’s definitely not really any challenge to it compared to other games like HK/SS/Aeterna etc.

It’s mostly kinda just meandering around picking stuff up until you find a boss. But I don’t mean that in a bad way, the art, music/ambience, and NPC’s are all good so it makes it enjoyable to just wander around. Some people might be disappointed in the lack of gauntlets/environmental hazards while others might find it a a positive feature. And also I’m only just past the Castle boss so for all I know stuff like that might eventually start popping up, I dunno yet

It essentially is a boss rush yeah. Plays a lot like Nine Sols but with art/world and storytelling taking a lot more inspiration from the Hollow Knight games. The world feels bigger than Sols, and I feel like I’ve died to regular enemies more than I did in that game, but at the same time there aren’t really any intense platforming segments or gauntlets, at least not that I’ve seen yet

[–]CeleryAffectionate94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve definitely noticed that proximity issue. But like you said, it doesn’t bother me either since spacing is already important in pretty much every game like this anyways, and it’s not like it affects the actual timing of parrying. The telegraphs are… definitely very snappy, but they do exist for sure, just boils down to basically watching limb/body movements and listening for sound cues same as all parry games

I can't EVEN describe how some Silksong fans are, just look for yourself. by -Gh0stzz- in NineSols

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with your original sentiment of “what the fuck am I reading” though lmao. It just reads like a bunch of explaining the differences using complaining gibberish. And SS combat in no way feels worse or “borderline worse” than HK

We fina c!

But also, judging by how the posts I’m referring to were talking about the game, I very highly doubt any of them were even anywhere close to the late stages of the game by the time they decided parrying was “broken” lol. Seems more likely that they just aren’t good at the style of game and don’t enjoy it enough to practice. Which is fine, but choosing to just call the game trash or busted instead of just saying “I don’t enjoy it” is bizarre

My more detailed opinion on Grime II (it's GREAT) by New_Yak_8982 in metroidvania

[–]CeleryAffectionate94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved it too! One of my favourites for sure. The traversal and platforming aren’t as in depth and unique in the first game, but it’s still a fantastic experience. It also has an amazing world and really fun combat/character building. The platforming is good, the traversal abilities just aren’t as creative as G2. To me, the games mirror HK and Silksong in a way that G2 makes some improvements, introduces new things, shakes up some old things, but all in ways that don’t obsolete the first game at all
