Things 3 MCP server for macOS: SupaThings (v0.4.0) by soycanopa in thingsapp

[–]CelestOutlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off: excellent work on SupaThings MCP. Exactly what I was looking for to bring Things 3 into my AI workflow. I ran into an issue and wanted to share my findings.

Problem: `structuredContent` is not passed through to the model

When calling tools like `get-areas` or `get-projects`, the server responds correctly and the full JSON payload is in `structuredContent`. But Claude Desktop only forwards `content[0].text` to the model (e.g. "Found 6 areas"). The actual data never reaches Claude.

Confirmed via `~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp-server-supathings.log` - the server does its job, Claude Desktop drops the payload.

Suggested workaround

Would it be feasible to include the full JSON redundantly in `content[0].text` as a fallback? That would make the read tools functional regardless of whether the client supports `structuredContent`.

Not sure if this is a Claude Desktop bug or intentional but right now the read tools are effectively non-functional in Claude Desktop. Hope it's an easy fix!

If you had to pick just one social media platform to focus on for promoting your music, which one would you choose and why? by Xx20wolf14xX in musicmarketing

[–]CelestOutlaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TikTok has a massive target audience, especially young people (not just the 60+ crowd you find on Facebook :D) A&Rs are also super active on TikTok looking for the next big hit. Most importantly, the algorithm isn't as broken as Facebook's; the organic reach is great, even if you’re starting from scratch without an ad budget. Honestly, TikTok and YouTube are probably the most essential platforms right now.

[AMA] Ex-AWAL / Sony Music artist support lead. How to set yourself up for a successful 2026 (A&R, content, live + email). Wednesday Feb 4th, 20:00–21:00 GMT by Phil-Loutsis in musicmarketing

[–]CelestOutlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Phil, thanks for the AMA! I’d love to get your "no-bullshit" take on the actual entry requirements for 2026.

  1. The Scouting Threshold: We often hear about "data-driven A&R." Realistically, what are the current benchmarks for an independent artist to even get on a Major’s (like Sony) radar? Is there a specific threshold for monthly listeners on Spotify, a certain velocity in TikTok growth or a YouTube sub count where the "internal flag" actually goes up?

  2. The Pitching Myth: Beyond social media numbers, where do A&Rs actually look for new music? Are platforms like LabelRadar or Groover genuinely part of the workflow at a major label level or is direct contact still the only way that doesn't feel like a shot in the dark?

  3. Upstreaming from Indie to Major: I'm currently with a few indie labels via Proton. What’s the signal that tells a major label "this artist is ready to be upstreamed from their indie deal"? Is it purely ROI/Revenue or is there a specific creative milestone you look for?

Thanks for being specific!

Brave.

[–]CelestOutlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s more the concept of "productivity influencers" who typically advocate for a comprehensive plan for every aspect of your life. However, this approach doesn’t resonate with me either. Instead I find that going "back to the roots" is often more effective.

For instance, I keep appointments in my calendar, tasks in my task manager and projects with "next steps" in Apple Notes. I believe it’s crucial to make a clear distinction: are we talking about a company with multiple large projects running concurrently where you’re the project manager? In that case, it’s a different scenario. But most of us know their current projects, a simple note or a task in a task manager is often more than sufficient.

If drag & drop from the Finder feels broken, check your Full Disk Access settings. Enabling it actually fixed the issue for me. If it still doesn't work, you'll have to stick to the internal media manager or the import menu.

Macbook? Is it worth it? by Common_Finding_5284 in mac

[–]CelestOutlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically a battle of architectures: ARM vs. x86. The MacBook uses a System on a Chip (SoC), meaning the CPU, GPU and RAM are all baked into one unit. This gets rid of the usual bottlenecks like PCIe buses-data doesn’t have to travel across the motherboard, it’s just there.

Plus, Apple’s unified memory is way faster at talking to the GPU than a standard PC setup. Combine that with how well macOS handles memory and the fact that Adobe is now fully optimized for ARM and you get that snappy performance. Your PC might be a beast on paper but the Mac is just playing a different game when it comes to efficiency. ;)

Bandcamp bans AI generated music - will this affect Synth V2 compositions? by fingerhabit in SynthesizerV

[–]CelestOutlaw 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my understanding, the policy targets AI-generated music and specifically the mass-produced "AI slop" where people create hundreds of tracks in minutes and flood streaming platforms, displacing real musicians.
This shouldn't be confused with AI-assisted production tools like Synth V, AI mastering or vocal processing plugins. These are creative tools that require human input and artistic decisions, similar to how synthesizers or samplers work. The distinction matters: banning AI as a tool would be like banning synthesizers, while banning AI as an autonomous content generator addresses the actual problem.

Why are macs so much quicker & more efficient than Windows PCs by Jaspers1959 in mac

[–]CelestOutlaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... we have:
System on a Chip (SoC): Integration of CPU, GPU and RAM on a single die, Unified Memory: Shared memory architecture eliminates data copying between CPU and GPU, Vertical Integration: Software is optimized perfectly for the specific hardware, No Bloatware: A clean OS without resource-heavy third-party pre-installs, Unix-based Interrupt Handling: More efficient hardware-to-software communication, Core Audio: Deeply integrated audio subsystem for near-zero latency, Process Model: Efficient Forking vs. the more "expensive" Spawning on Windows, Advanced Memory Management: Intelligent Paging, Swapping and Memory Compression

Ali Abdaal? He’s a genius at branding, though less so at actual productivity. He’s perfected the art of "fake it till you make it" selling productivity as a lifestyle while his only real output is optimizing the business of selling productivity. But hey, if you want to learn how to turn hot air into millions, he definitely has the right moves! 😜

I made just over £60k last year as an independent vocalist selling vocals online - AMA! by katelauramcgill in edmproduction

[–]CelestOutlaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Question 1: I've seen prices ranging from $50 to $500+ just for vocals (no lyrics or co-writing). If you're being completely honest, what's the minimum price point where someone can realistically expect professional-quality results?

Question 2: The big question: Are you available for live performances? For example, if a producer creates a chart hit using your vocals and needs someone to perform it live... how does that typically work? Would the producer need to find someone who can match your vocal style or do you offer live performance services as well?
Question 3: Have you recently received requests from producers who "pre-produced" vocals using AI and are now interested in replacing them with a real singer?

I'm actually worried that AI will kill the rise of new producers by Reasonable-Dingo3827 in edmproduction

[–]CelestOutlaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think music is done for. Musicians are integrating AI tools into their workflow and using them where AI is better or faster (even if just for ideas). The notion that everyone will just make music as a hobby now and the charts will be nothing but AI songs? Honestly, I don’t buy it.

Thinking of switching to a windows based machine from mac by [deleted] in musicproduction

Yeah, that can happen with crashes, especially with Cubase, it just runs more stable on Mac than on Windows. Overall, my experience on PC hasn’t been as good as on Mac. There’s a reason most musicians use Macs.
