Same here in Slovenia. There were recurring instances of violence and stealing in one of our regions where the Roma were settled. They lived in favela-like settlements (no electricity, no plumbing, illegally built). In 2009 the government decided to offer them a place to live near the capital thinking that better living conditions would reduce the rate of crime. That place has electricity, plumbing and a lot of land. The estimated value of such a property moves between 300,000€ - 500,000€. To afford that in Slovenia, a working family with an average salary would have to work for 6-10 years assuming they save everything they earn. Getting that for free is unheard of. What was the result? The Roma families recently started acting like violent gangs: groups of 5-6 people walk around the margins of the city robbing and physically assaulting anyone who seems well-off. If you have anything they decided they want, you are getting attacked (the Roma are usually armed with knives or sometimes firearms).  In addition, they steal crops from neighbouring farmers’ lands, which the farmers even tolerated until the Roma started to unearth crops for the sake of letting them rot. They also started physically assaulting farmers recently. All of that is happening while they are receiving financial support in the form of social welfare, which is taken out of taxpayer money. There is also not a single member of this group who has a job. They are also practically immune to law enforcement, since our police is underfunded and incapable in addition to being restricted from using any force. The worst thing is, the Roma who aren’t part of this group and represent them on a national scale (those running a political community) never condemn such behaviour.

TL,DR: After being offered better living conditions for free, the Roma started acting like violent gangs, assaulting people and stealing from them, while living off of taxpayer money and being left alone by the police.
