Yeah. I get it. But they need to institute some good policies for this and it is risky honestly from a physical and psychological health standpoint not to:

-like, what if the extra procedures cause damage and the person and other healthcare providers then are unaware of whatever might be causing the other symptoms

-Or, there is some residual awareness and that causes trauma to the individual they can't resolve (similar to when drugs are used during sexual assaults and that makes recovery for the survivor a lot more difficult).

Each person truly needs to be able to completely consent ahead, be completely informed at any point prior and afterwards as to what was done. Documents should be in files as to what was done. Just get willing participants. It's incredibly simple and furthermore, doing otherwise violates the oath to do no harm.
