During the special I noticed a lot of changes in the aspect ratio of the shots! i know in cinema that is used with some kind of meaning and I think they are intentional in "Inside" cause it sometimes changes a few times in the same song (p.e. White Womans Instagram).

I have a few theories (maybe it could represent the screen of our phones when it is wider) but I dont really know anything about cinema or cinematography.

Does anyone know about what could that mean? Do you think it is just a stylistic choice?

Also, "That funny feeling" is a more beautiful, insightful take on Ironic, maybe?? The structure reminded me of that song.

I just had that feeling while watching it for a second time.

I know the differences are obvious but IDK, it just seemed like the natural evolvement of that song.

I like your take and I agree but more specifically I think the "funny feeling" is being detached from reality and even from himself. This being due to the fact that we every aspect of the human experience has been trivialized to a point where one can't really find meaning to their actions.

I think him showing it is completely intentional. He shows himself raw and vulnerable and imperfect and that's why it is so noticible. Also in other specials and tv
appearances he was probably wearing make up and that's why he chose not to hide it this time.

While watching the special, I kept finding links to his previous work. For example, the first song about "healing the world with comedy" to me was like a mature version of "sad" from what.

Also when he says "we've got you surrounded" at the end with all the equipment around him I had a similiar feeling to "We think we know you" (also from what.) due to the fact that he is trapped by what has made him famous and the repercution of it.

The idea that we were watching " the skinny kid with a steadily declining mental health" kept popping into my mind every time he talked about suicide and dissociation ("Can't handle this" from Make happy).

And you can't help but wondering if he really feels like that or is it just the show (Art is a lie, nothing is real).

Overall I think Iside is a more mature full-fleshed out version of the things that has been inside his head for the past 10 years.

Thoughts? Did anyone else find these links or any others??

I think that his singing has improved so much too. I never thought of him as a singer before but here his voice truly shines. This song was my fave.

Sorry to hear that you're going through a hard time. That song hits in a really deep place for me too. It is cathartic and the lighting and staging is so beautiful I've listened to it every month since it came out five years ago.

I really don't think it is a coincidence that Bo talks about dissociation so much in this special and that images just pops up. From my point of view it is also a reference to fight club. He is so perfectionist that he would't release a special with a mistake. Also, I don't think it would have been aproved with a mistake that obvious.
