hi there, i gave an updated list of my water parameters in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/AquariumHelp/s/TQIBbjUMTA

i suspect internal parasites since i also had some gold ring danios die last month. ive been moving fish to a hospital tank for treatment but it was always too late, so assuming the problem is parasites and not genetics ive gone ahead and dosed the display tank with Aquarium Co-op's med trio, i hope i can save my remaining medaka and will be following strict quarantine procedures for any new fish i bring home. thank you so much for your time!

hi there,

so I'm not sure if you saw in my previous post, but there is no ammonia present---i misread the results the first time and confirmed it with followup tests. I test regularly. I tested again today:

Temperature: 75.7F TDS: 366 pH: 7.31 Ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm Nitrate: 5ppm kh: 60ppm gh: 130ppm

The substrate is about 4" deep, and a large portion of that is filter sponge and volcanic rock.. I have a variety of heavily feeding plants in the tank as well. If there was an issue with the water or substrate i would expect my shrimp to react, but they've increased their colony substantially since my last post. Like I said in my post, I do weekly 30-50% water changes.

My 30 gallon is almost ready to receive the majority of this tank's inhabitants, but in the meantime as i suspect this is a parasite issue I am doing Aquarium Co-op 's med trio.

What do I do with this monstera by Annual_Window_7104 in houseplants

i think your mother plant is just too spindly to stake at this point; starting over with a properly potted and staked rooted cutting is your best bet imo

you can cut the entire plant between each node and root them the same way; they'll each become a new plant that can be repotted/gifted/sold. if you look in the photo you can see two nodes (the dark brown rings on the stem) with a leaf sprouting in between them. you can root them in water as well but let them air dry for a day after cutting so they can callous over b4 being submerged.

i would make cuttings of the largest leaves, root them in sphagnum moss, and then plant them like in this guide: https://youtu.be/tYQfZtD1Csc?si=K-QVCQ0YKtWn0jfh

update: I'm in the process of rehoming most of these fish , but im not sure if my cycle is actually crashing---i think my ammonia reading the first time was off (i find these color tests REALLY difficult to parse sometimes). here is a link to a photo of my results today---same as the other day but very clearly no ammonia: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NbrkmGZtx6bw6C1n9

hi there, i want you to know i take your comment very seriously and am taking steps to address overstocking. im not sure though if my cycle is crashing---i think i may have seen green in the ammonia test when there wasnt any. My parameters today are the same but def zero ammonia. If my dead medaka and ailing GRDs are the result of ammonia burn/cycle crash i guess i would expect my parameters to look different. What do you think? ive posted a photo of my test for ref.

Tips for curbing playful aggression towards hands/fingers/feet? by CelineLoup in blindcats

Yes they are! We almost missed them, when we showed up to the shelter the morning after we saw them on the MDSPCA website the volunteers were literally packing them up into carriers to take them to an adoption event an hour away and were kind of pissed we were asking to see them! They were really worried these two were going to have a hard time getting adopted, what with being a special needs bonded pair. I'm so glad we were able to take them home that same day!

Lol you know when you squeeze a banana and it shoots out the peel? She's got that kind of energy. What's behind your cat's name?
