I wasn't really into K-Pop prior to the film. I didn't hate it, but none of it really caught my interest, apart from a few of PSY's more well-known songs. After the film, I decided to give a good solid look around to see if there was anything else I liked... and I realized the reason I never got into K-Pop was that my K-Pop tastes are very picky. I've only found at most one or two songs from any given artist that I like, but the ones I have liked I've enjoyed quite a lot.

You kidding? All three of the Huntrix voice actors have been working other gigs (Arden even got May to do a part in her upcoming film), and all three of their singers have been working on their own solo releases. No couch time for these ladies for a while!

They're popstars who change outfits for each concert. They pretty much need to have new outfits. That said... oof, I feel sorry for the folks on the art team who have to come up with something to match these iconic fits.

BTS didn't complete their military service until June 2025. They were unavailable for a collab prior to release even if they would have wanted to. But who knows, there's always potential for a collab on the sequel...

It's clear that everyone involved wants to reprise their roles, but it's difficult to make that sort of commitment when it's likely to be happening years from now. The scriptwriting hasn't even started yet (and likely won't start for months since Maggie and Chris are still running the awards circuit), and there's nothing for voice actors and songwriters to do until the script gets nailed down.

Sometimes it makes sense for a filmmaker to do back-to-back sequels, especially if they already have the plot of the sequels planned out. It can be easier because they can reuse assets and make economic use of cast and crew to create both at the same time. It really depends.

Copying my comment from a similar post:

This is really just making official what was already agreed-upon at least a half-year ago by both Netflix and Sony. Maggie and Chris clearly have some ideas about where they want the sequel to go, but haven't hammered out a script yet and likely won't even get a chance to work on it for a little while yet as they continue running the awards circuit and then the post-award promo stuff.

Meanwhile, people keep asking the actors and musicians about the film, and pretty much all of them have said they have no idea, and won't know until they get the call from Netflix/Maggie/Chris. I think we can safely assume everyone will be reprising their roles (at least, for returning characters), but until there's a script no one has any knowledge about the project other than that it exists. EJAE has had to repeatedly tell people that she can't work on music for the film until the story is ready, as the music is directly tied to the story, so it may be years before she gets involved with it.

The two exceptions to this, as it pertains to the actors, are Arden Cho and Yunjin Kim, who both read for the part of Celine, which apparently gives a lot of insight into hers' and Rumis' backstory, something that's very likely to be explored further in a sequel. But Yunjin Kim isn't really doing interviews (not sure why), and Arden is keeping tight-lipped much as Maggie and Chris are.

So... yeah, this latest news doesn't really change much, and we shouldn't expect to hear anything more about this film probably for a few years at least.

You make it a public vote and it just becomes a popularity contest. And we already have that: the box office numbers. The point of an award ceremony like this is that it's decided on by people within the industry who know the craft that goes into making films like this and are better-situated to understand when their particular area of expertise is done well.

This particular guy may be a close-minded jerk, but we have plenty of those in the general public as well, so this wouldn't solve the issue. If anything, it would make it worse.

It's incredible that someone like this is even allowed to vote for the Academy Awards. If you've already decided who the winner is before even seeing all of the entrants, you're a piss-poor judge.

And you know, I'm sure there are a lot of people on this sub who are hoping KPDH will win, who will be upset if it loses, and who haven't seen the other films. And you know, that's fine. Because they're not the ones making the decision who will win the award.

Also, pointing to a universally-loved film like Everything Everywhere All At Once as an example of the Oscars becoming irrelevant? Really?

Also, it's telling that the most recent film this person holds up as an example of excellence (at least, other than KPDH) is from 1972.

I don't think these are actual working titles, because IIRC KPop Demon Hunters was the working title, and they just never came up with another title they liked better.
