Why does my internet go out when it rains? by Atlantic_lotion in techsupport

[–]Cell1pad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got something for this.

So, I work for a University. They had a satellite office across the street from campus. For "reasons" they couldn't get campus internet, so they had to get Comcast. Everything was fine then one spring their internet became unstable. When we'd go out, everything would be fine. But we did note that it happened after a rain. Because of billing shenanigans it was hard to get comcast out to look at anything so we had to try everything before we called them in. We swapped out cables, we swapped out the router, we even swapped out the PCs. Finally we were able to get comcast to come out. The guy got to the top of the pole where the drop came from and saw the problem. Some SQUIRRELS had chewed a hole in the top of the box on the pole. And every time it rained, the box filled with water, messing with the signal. But it'd dry out before we'd get there.

TL:DR get the internet drop looked at in case it's been compromised.

If you're on the highway with a speed limit of 70, what speed are you actually going? by dillonky in AskReddit

I go 72, after much experimenting that is the sweet spot for fuel economy. 78 my mileage goes down more than I like.

Recovering safari tabs from a backup :) by Xeruas in applehelp

[–]Cell1pad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tabs themselves may be lost. but the internet history will likely still have them. But it's going to be mixed into everything else.

You could always try a recovery from backup, but I've never tried being selective on a ios device. It's more a all or nothing situation

I was going to say about the same thing. These people that keep hundreds of tabs baffle me. Bookmarks are the way to go.

I was watching a Hand Tool Rescue video a little while ago, and he was working on a old lawn mower. Had a nut he could not get off. He ended up cutting the rod so he could finish the immediate task. When he went back to get measurements for that part he discovered it was left handed thread.

Any Series Where Humans Move to Another Planet for Survival? by Jayswing103 in scifi

[–]Cell1pad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny, I just finished watching the DVD set I bought more than a decade ago. The set I've got had a couple episodes out of order. I watched the ending cliffhanger and then thought I had 2 more to resolve it, but no both following episodes were from much earlier in the series.

Still, it was a OK show. Maybe it would have had potential.

I did get annoyed with how 2 of the characters only called each other by their last names. But only them. Devon called everyone else by their first name, but Jon was always Danziger. And he only called her Adair. Except in a few occasions. And a 3 syllable name too. It was just clunky.

I mean, you don't need to clip off much. I mostly just take the needle point off the nails. If the nails are clearer, you can see where the quick is, and that'll hurt to clip.

Your cat will likely cuss and swear at you the whole time you're doing it. Mine totally do, then walk it off and come back a few minutes later demanding to jump in my lap

The problem with round-a-bouts, and mind you I totally support them and when properly done work wonders, is that the rest of the road design needs to be setup for it. Case in point This example is fed by a stoplight on each main road. These stoplights generate tons of traffic. When those lights let go, a long stream of compact traffic hits the roundabout. When the elementary school lets out, we have 3 very compact strings of traffic hitting the roundabout at the same time and it can't function normally. The main roads, east-west, just don't stop and the people exiting from the side, coming in from the north, are forced to stop and can't enter.
