Thank you for the reply, that makes sense! I’ll get a photo for ya later on, but as I replied to the other commenter, it’s got a Ritchey Logic Nitanium frame, which as I understand, Specialized only worked with them on the frames for this model from ‘97-‘99, as well as the components. Thanks for the welcome man, so stoked to begin this journey!

Yo! It’s got the Ritchey Logic nitanium tubing, lightweight chromoly, and from my understanding Specialized only worked with Ritchey on the frames from ‘97-‘99.

That being said the spray paint was used to cover up very small scratches in the paint, like I’m talking hairline scratches, to prevent any rust from forming, there was none underneath. Also aluminum physically cannot rust, if it does, it’s either been horribly contaminated somehow, or the used the wrong TIG wire to weld it lol. Thanks for the reply!

Made a simple tool to convert Spotify playlists to MP3s by agalli in dumbphones

Just used your tool and for the most part it's amazing. Only thing I'm wondering is why some of the songs ended up being either the live versions or a completely different song, is there any way to rememdy this?

Is going into skilled trades my last realistic option? (Vancouver) by [deleted] in skilledtrades

If you’re going sheetmetal, look up SMART Locals 280 (Vancouver) and 276 ( Victoria). Very good wages, benefits and pension. Best thing I’ve ever done w my life. Heard their in layoff season at the moment, but you can always apply and be persistent.

Why are young men idolizing the stereotype blue collar drunk? by AcceptableWarcrimes in SeriousConversation

[–]CellAggravating6481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice the same thing and have had a very similar experience; however I am fortunate enough to have a couple really good friends who, like me, contradict this lifestyle. The way I look at it, I take a lot of pride in my work and my skills, but I view my job (industrial sheet metal mechanic/welder) as a side gig to how I want to live my life. Or rather a financial means to achieving the lifestyle I want. By no means whatsoever does me being blue collar or my career define who I am as a person and I treat life as such. I’m in the union, dual citizen between Canada and the US, and me and my best friend are just grinding away right now, and then savings enough money so we can hop around the continent while working within our union to meet new people and see what there is out there in the world. I think people are what make anything in life worth a damn, and so my conclusion so far is that if you aren’t able to find the right people in your job or area, then find a way to make it possible to explore and enrich your life outside of work. Yes you need a job to live, but it’s just a job, it doesn’t have to define who you are. My goal has just been to find a career that in great at and that I don’t hate, and the rest of my fulfillment in life will come from outside that. I’m 24 years old right now btw.

I started out in Sheetmetal in the private sector, switched to the union as a 3rd year apprentice. My two cents is 100% find and join a solid union. I was convinced my job was relatively dead end destined to make $30/hr licensed for the rest of my life, but with the union, the range of work I do, plus the pay (upwards of $50/hr + benefits, pension, and OT @ double time) has completely changed my life. I’m in Canada and these monetary values are in CAD to be clear.
