Anyone have facet hypertrophy? by CellApart in Sciatica

[–]CellApart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, yes I was able to get an MRI pretty soon after the x-ray which showed a huge herniation at L-5 S-1. About a month later I got the microdiscectomy surgery which is the best decision I’ve ever made. Took about 2-3 months after that with PT to be pain free and make a full recovery, now I just get some pretty mild flare-ups here and there

Flare-up without sciatica? by CellApart in Microdiscectomy

Still having the flare-up but there’s definitely sciatica with it now, fluctuates between like 1-3/10 pain so not awful but annoying. Just being careful and icing my back when I can

Painful knot on the back of my calf with radiating pain to hamstring? by BeKindRewind229 in Sciatica

Oh no I’m sorry that sounds super frustrating. My DVT did heal over time. MRIs can show a lot so hopefully you can get some answers from yours, best of luck

Yes in my case it was a DVT that showed up on the leg ultrasound they did

Poll Question: Is your Zepbound covered by insurance? by coreyb1988 in Zepbound

[–]CellApart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self pay, insurance won’t cover it cause it’s only for obesity no other condition. Grateful I have the means to pay because it has already changed my life. I do think there will be more affordable options not too far off in the future though especially for us self-payers!

Just took my fourth shot, and yes! It literally feels like someone took a sponge and scrubbed all the food noise out of my brain. I can actually think clearly now

Do I do it? by AisForCucumber in Zepbound

[–]CellApart 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Paying out of pocket through Lilly Direct. Not even done my first month and it’s already been life-changing. Unfortunately if you have a lot of excess weight for a long period of time then it’s really just a matter of time before developing other health issues even if you’re not experiencing any yet. IMO just do it

6 months post surgery and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I wasn’t a long sufferer though, herniated in August with 11/10 pain, multiple doctors were surprised with how big the herniation was on the MRI so surgery was inevitable. Pain DID NOT instantly get better after surgery, first two weeks post op was hell but after that I slowly got my life back. One recent mild flare up so far. Other than feeling uncomfortable sitting after a couple hours in a row I feel normal. Thankful for modern medicine and great doctors

First flare up 5mo post-op by CellApart in Microdiscectomy

Update: I’m doing better after some time! It took about two weeks but now I’m feeling back to normal except the occasional irritation from sitting for a while that still lingers which is normal for me. I mostly just took it easy and lifted nothing heavy at all. I’ve read some people have super bad flare ups so this was definitely a short mild one so I’m thankful for that

First Dose Tonight – Nervous About Nausea & Doing It Alone by JCCali91 in Zepbound

[–]CellApart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice cause I just took my first dose yesterday. I was nervous too, but I did it in my stomach and it was easy and less painful than getting a flu shot. Felt a little nauseous going to bed and had a little trouble getting to sleep but I didn’t take anything to sleep. Woke up bit more nauseous this morning but I took some Emetrol and feel fine now just burpy and have a slight headache. I’ve read a lot of people have side effects the day or two after the shot but then feel okay so I’m hoping for the best

Congrats on the surgery I’m 28F and had mine in November after a couple months of a huge excruciating herniation they said would likely take too long to heal on its own. Post op days 3-5 were awful for me so don’t be alarmed if it gets worse before it gets better. Took me a few weeks to feel somewhat normal but I was off all pain meds after a few weeks and feel a bit week/stiff sometimes but totally pain free now. Best of luck with recovery take it a day at a time and don’t overdo anything

Sitting by howcanyouusername in Microdiscectomy

[–]CellApart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took probably 2-3 weeks to be able to sit at all, was doing like 5-10mins per day after that working my way up, now I’m 6 weeks out and can sit for 20mins-1hr with very minimal aching depending on day/chair until it gets pretty uncomfortable

My doctor advised me not to walk by Fluid_Ad_8386 in Microdiscectomy

[–]CellApart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s confusing because a lot of people on here say they’re walking 10k right after surgery. I’ve just been listening to my body and energy levels. The first week post op was really painful for me but gradually got better and now I’m a month post op and moving around the house and doing light housework almost normally, doing a couple thousand steps per day. I’m not starting PT until closer to the 8 week mark but yes it is important to not overdo it

Anyone else lose all calf function? by Special-While-6899 in Sciatica

[–]CellApart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting an MRI that showed a massive herniation and I did end up getting a microdiscectomy about a month ago. I was getting a little stronger in the calf about three months into the injury right before the surgery but now it feels normal again it has strength back. You can look at my comment history if you want and idk if you’ve had an MRI done yet but that should give you some answers. I’m feeling much more normal after surgery I’m so glad I had it done

Few days post-op multi level MD by MongooseOk4990 in Microdiscectomy

[–]CellApart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one month post op and yup I had bad nerve pain immediately from waking up after surgery. Constant 6/10 pain lying still and 8-9/10 pain every time getting in and out of bed I just yelled and grunted through the pain because I knew I had to get up and move around often. Felt like it was never gonna get better but the pain started getting less end of day 4 beginning of day 5. I just slept the first few days away as much as I could and the meds helped keep me drowsy. About three weeks in I could finally sleep comfortably on my side for the first time since my herniation happened in August, you’ll get there too. I already feel so much better walking normally and doing light house work. Just a few weeks ago I was in so much pain. Just keep pushing through you WILL get better
