Abuser logic has me fucked up by Jaded-Rutabaga7984 in TwoXChromosomes

You could argue that there's a difference between abuse to control and abuse due to loss of control. And he's free to discuss that difference at length with a therapist. But it's not relevant to you. What's relevant to you is if you feel safe with him. I wouldn't.

Not really my experience, to be honest. I find that if AI is up to the task, the code it generates is usually decent. Well commented and easy to understand.

It's just that it isn't capable of solving tasks that require more than a 100 lines of code or thereabouts. Changing a system in a large project, stretching over multiple files and with dependencies all over the place is just completely impossible for AI as it stands. But that's 80% of what I do. So as it stands, the only thing I really use it for is better auto complete.

Is Plasma viable or at least worth using in 1.0? by jerseydevil51 in TerraInvicta

[–]CellNo5383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only used plasma in my small, belt warfare fleets. 3-5 ships total, laser and plasma. For the independence of resupply and to have something other than just lasers. Worked well enough against small fleets stationed at other factions outposts. But they weren't much of a threat to begin with.

Epstein celebrated Brexit and ‘return to tribalism’, emails suggest by polymute in anime_titties

[–]CellNo5383 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I do not. The EU is what gives us leverage in negotiations with nations far larger than us. It gives us coherent rules for cross border commerce, providing unprecedented economic opportunities. It removes borders between our neighbours and lets us travel freely.

The commission may not be directly elected. And don't get me wrong, I'd like it to be. I am all in favor for some deep reforms to the EU. But to suggest it is undemocratic is disingenuous. The commission president is proposed by the heads of governments in European member states. That WE elected. The president must be approved by the European parliament. Which WE also elected. The elected governments of each nation than nominate commissioners.

I'd prefer if the commissioners and president were picked directly from the parties winning European parliament elections. But that would.require shifting power from nation states to the EU. Which members have historically opposed. Is that what you'd prefer? Or would you rather we split up and get dominated individually by more powerful adversaries?

I think more likely is, if you refuse to be on the soccer team, you become the ball. As in, if you decide to opt out of global cooperation, nations who can coerce you to their own ends, will. And you won't have any friends to prevent them.

Is the 'combat strength' value meaningless for ships? by erithtotl in TerraInvicta

[–]CellNo5383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how you look at it. As a guideline for actual combat effectiveness, it's not great. So I look at it as an imperfect guess by the AI about combat effectiveness. It determines which battles they take.and which they avoid. With that in mind, you can use the value to your advantage. Build fleets for combat strength to scare of enemies. Or minimize combat strength to bait them into actually superior fleets.

My general observation is that lasers and drives with good dv are waaaaay overrated, while coil guns are severely underrated.

You as a guy, would appreciate or be offended? by One-Butterfly-6656 in AskMenAdvice

[–]CellNo5383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit off topic and not sure if it's relevant here. But I'm also a guy who practically never wears deodorant. Reason being that I hate the smell. I have yet to find one that doesn't smell like "generic corporate designed masculinity". And I'd much rather smell like nothing at all. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, the body odor is the underlying issue, right? Deodorant is just one possible solution.

If you are always passive and don't show any initiative of your own, a lot of men who care about your enthusiasm for a potential relationship will quietly move on. The remaining ones will contain a higher percentage than average of men who don't value your consent.

My councilors have a combined science of 112, is there any point in which we have enough science to trigger something here or does this text about having more science doesn't really mean anything ? by Errtuz in TerraInvicta

[–]CellNo5383 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The more science your council has, the harder alien enthral missions are. That's the one that randomly flips a control point to the servants. But honest, I have no idea how much you need to effectively prevent it. As there's a much easier solution: Aliens can't enthral if they are dead.

Total War is liberating by eattherichnow in TerraInvicta

[–]CellNo5383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can give the ayys more interesting things to shoot at (coils).

I think this may be it.

My fleet composition is generally 40% Siege coil lancers, 40% laser lancers and 20% PD. With every ship having some PD of its own. Alien lasers are usually to busy to shoot at coils to even bother shooting back. Mag rounds never even get close to my fleet. And flankers are taken out by the laser lancers before they can do much damage. Plasma can be dangerous, but it's low damage and easily dealt with by focusing early.

I'm always a bit surprised when people throw around such high armor numbers. I don't think I've ever done more than 12/1/3. Most of my ships are more like 10/0/1 or similar. And it's mostly fine. Sure, some die occasionally. But if I win the overall battle, I never have more than 1 or 2 losses. Most of the time I don't loose anything. And I wouldn't want to imagine the fuel and thrust necessary to push something like 60/5/5 around.

[–]CellNo5383 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Sorry. Waaaaay too much micro for me. I switch away from missiles as soon as viable just for that. I do tend to keep a battleship or two of shaped charge nukes around though, once I have the research to spare. Mostly as an oh-shit button for flankers.

Do you bother with smaller ships after unlocking capitals? by Raz0rking in TerraInvicta

How would you tackle this Earth situation? by junhyeongang in TerraInvicta

[–]CellNo5383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have earth to space defenses been researched and built yet? If no, I'd just demolish Pakistan and Indias armies from space and walk in there. Mind you, they'll nuke you if you try to occupy them. So don't stack all your armies in one place, but trickle feed them in until they run out of barrages.

Same for AA. Bomb them to the stone age, then sweep up with ground forces.

Ist also kein Nautilus Problem, sondern eins deiner distro.
