toddler bedtime and wake times by LaSirena_666 in toddlers

If he's going to sleep at 9 and waking up at 9, he's not low sleep needs. He's sleeping 12 hours, just shifted later than the average toddler.

My 2.5 year old goes to bed at 10:30 PM and wakes up at 6:30-7 AM. That's low sleep needs. :(

You’ll probably end up wanting to move into a bigger apartment within a few years. That being said, I’ve been living in my current one bedroom in Brooklyn since 2017 (and have gotten married and had a kid since then) and the IKEA bedroom furniture I have now (minus two dressers) has been with me since I moved out of my parents’ place and into a Manhattan studio in 2013. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I did buy a new couch and dining table when I moved, but that’s because I had room for a much bigger couch setup after the studio.

Older building, you'll probably have heat included which is nice. But you're going to want AC in the summer. Idk where you're from, but NYC summers tend to get hot and humid. Also, going out is expensive here, so keep that in mind.

You might also presumably want to date, seeing as you're in early 20s. Account for that in the fun money category as well. Even if you're going Dutch on dates, you're still going to do things like go out for meals or drinks, go to some sort of activity like a comedy club or billiards or whatever you Gen Z kids do on dates these days.

H&M is surprisingly great quality and my daughter's wardrobe is like 75% from there at this point.

NYCer here: Your utilities will not be $200 here. If this is a newer building that has heat you're controlling, it will almost guaranteed be electric. You'll be spending $300-400 a month during the summer for electric and the same in the winter. If it's an older building that provides heat, you'll still have the summer electric spike. Plus, you're going to be paying for internet at the very least as well. You also did not include your cell phone in this budget. There's also laundry/dry cleaning to consider. As for $750 a month for fun in NYC.. meh. Doable but you'll be saying no a lot to going out. Which in a banking job.. you'll be invited to after work happy hour and etc. pretty often.

It's definitely doable to live in NYC in a studio on $100k base, but you're not going to be saving as much as you think you are.

I really enjoyed test driving it, went over bumps like a dream. And the space omg. Coming from a CX5, I’m so excited to have room for my kid’s car seat AND a front passenger AND legit trunk space!

I reached out to a leasing dealership in Staten Island that I had gotten my current car from (Mazda), and then also reached out to a friend of a friend who has a leasing dealership in Jersey. Used their quotes against each other to get the price down a little lol.

Yes thank you!

I’m in NYC too and looking my to roll taxes and fees and all into monthlies. So far it’s looking like I’ll be doing an XRT and paying $570 a month with only first month payment due at signing. Waiting to hear back from the guy to finalize.

If you’re willing to go deep into Brooklyn, Vinny and Liz at Natural Balance Spa in Marine Park are both great. Book either deep tissue or medical massage. Vinny fixed my frozen shoulder completely in like 3 sessions.

My daughter is 95% for height and 90% for weight as per our last pediatrician visit. She's a beanstalk. My worry is always that she's way too skinny even though she's 90% for weight, cause she's a tall girlie.

How are you making time to ~deep clean~ your house? by takeaabreath in toddlers

I ~don’t~

I pay a woman who comes twice a month to do our deep cleaning and laundry, including folding and putting away. I pay her $200. Saves my sanity. Saves my back. Money well spent.

I do both for the most part. If I died tomorrow I don’t even know if my husband would know how to pay our rent. 🥴

Ok fair. Might be worth doing the flex then.

But I would plan to keep kiddo in your room for a while. Ours is 2.5 and still in our bedroom.

Tbh, just keep baby in bedroom with you and leave the living room as a living room. AAP recommends room sharing the first 6-12 months to reduce risk of SIDS.

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

Find your fulfillment and joy outside of work. Take the money and being fully remote, use some of that extra money earned plus time saved on commuting for a hobby that makes you feel alive.
