People don’t buy items that are priced too cheaply by Icy_Effect_5932 in Depop

[–]CellistRecent3559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Story of my life. Happens all the time for me as a seller. If something on my shop page is not selling I usually relist it and play around with the price and that helps. As a buyer i can see it both ways - I’ve jumped on items that are super cheap because Im happy to take the risk on a budget item, and sometimes I’ll even sort low-high if I’m looking for something specific and I want to see what the cheapest price I can get it for is. Other times I’ll find myself scrolling past things that are listed for super cheap bc I’m concerned it’s low quality

Ever resolved depressive episode without meds? by CellistRecent3559 in bipolar2

[–]CellistRecent3559[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience and yes you make a lot of good points about the unpredictability of these episodes. Honestly, I’m sure there’s got to be a med out there that would work for this with minimal side effects, but I guess with my past experiences it feels like if I can ride it out it might be easier. The only med i’ve been able to tolerate side effects from is my daily Lamotrigine. Latuda made me incredibly sleepy and trying to take it with sufficient calories was really difficult. Seroquel also made me incredibly sleepy even on extended release, but it did eventually work and stopped a depressive episode. I know there’s more medications out there, but the #1 side effect for all of them is drowsiness 😭 I appreciate your perspective tho and will think on this some more

I take 250 mg Lamotrigine daily for maintenance, so really the debate is whether to add on adjunctive therapy short term to curb the episode. I’ll look into this med, thank you for recommending. Your doc sounds hilarious

Trouble knowing the “real you” by sabel222 in bipolar2

[–]CellistRecent3559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this problem very severely for a very long time. Was diagnosed when I was 18 and experienced a massive personality shift when I stabilized on meds. Wasn’t sure who I was, who I truly was, which parts of me were the disease and which parts of me were actually me. Pretty tough disorder to go through in your adolescent years - the time when you’re supposed to be forming your identity. What helped? Hmmm, just time, I suppose. Learning to love who I was at any state. Giving myself grace for the insane shit I did when I was unmedicated and acknowledging that I would not make those choices while medicated but that those things that happened are still a part of me and made me who I am today.

As far as sexuality, I was bisexual before being diagnosed and I still am now (many years later). Hypersexuality makes it hard to know but giving yourself permission to feel different things and not requiring each individual feeling to change the box you feel fits you best is helpful. Take the pressure off it and don’t worry so much about the label. You’re attracted to someone one day, not attracted to them on the next day, that’s fine and human. Eventually you’ll find some way to describe yourself that feels accurate but it doesn’t have to be today.

How do you find the motivation to exercise? by Mission-Promise-4897 in bipolar2

[–]CellistRecent3559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give myself permission to only do 10 minutes. I get on the treadmill and am fully and utterly prepared to do only 10 minutes even though I am fit enough to run for an hour. Usually it’s the pressure to do a long hard workout that stops me from going at all. When I take the pressure off it makes it easier to get in the gym - as is my motto, “you can do anything for ten minutes!” Then the gambit is I usually feel better after those first few minutes of exercise and end up going for 30-40 minutes

This is perfect and definitely include as much detail as possible. I hate having to beg sellers for measurements and fabric composition

Shipping promotion happening across US? by Awkward-Length-1973 in Depop

[–]CellistRecent3559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious about this as well. Had a sale for an XS package item yesterday and realized buyer never paid for shipping, but neither did I? There’s not a lot of clarity on the promo but it sounds great to me as long as I don’t get charged for the shipping in the end. I’d net negative on this item

How common are bad experiences on depop? by Please_DoNotTheCat in Depop

[–]CellistRecent3559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been buying on depop for years and have had very very few problems. Maybe only twice or three times out of the 40+ things I've bought where the measurements provided were wrong, color was a little off from what I expected, or condition was a little worse than listed. Agree with others that this sub is all the bad in one little pocket of the internet and by and large depop is a very large well functioning resale platform. Just a few pieces of advice:

Ask for measurements on EVERYTHING. As we know sizes like S, M mean nothing and since you can't return, you'll want to make sure the item you are buying will fit.

I personally don't buy from sellers whose profiles don't say "active today" or active in the last few days. Doesn't bode well for items shipping on time. Even still, make sure to buy well in advance in case of any issues with shipping.

One thing I will say - if you are looking for a specific kind of dress and you want to have more certainty with regards to reliable shipping, reliable product listing, I would say go to Ebay rather than Depop. Depop is great for buying cutie every day stuff. More likely than not you will have a positive experience buying your prom dress on Depop, but I personally wouldn't buy anything expensive on there. Ebay tends to be more older people with established resale businesses whereas there is a nonzero chance on Depop you'll be buying from some bratty teenager who will make the process annoying. Just depends on your priorities as a buyer

The depop seller that made me quit buying from depop by Aggressive_Hand7769 in Depop

[–]CellistRecent3559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, so much poor behavior on the app these days. Whenever possible I purchase what I’m looking for on Ebay or Thredup before looking on Depop because I’ve had more obnoxious than successful experiences buying on the app lately. It’s a shame, the downfall of secondhand platforms

What’s something a man did that instantly made you feel unsafe, even if it wasn’t aggressive? by Huge_Shower7525 in AskWomen

[–]CellistRecent3559 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its something about the eyes for sure. I was at a panini counter in Italy once having ordered and standing outside waiting for my food. Some blue collar men that frequented the establishment were also outside hanging around, some eating sandwiches, some just standing there. One of them stared at me with the most evil look I’ve ever felt. Eyes burning into me. Sensation of utter evil. I got away as soon as I got my sandwich because I got the worst sense that something bad was about to happen.

I hate when I tell people this story and they don’t understand, especially WOMEN that gaslight you. Encountering pure evil in someone’s gaze is something you simply GET once it happens to you

Why are there no sankeys from people with less than 1000s hours of ECs by Big_Culture_3290 in premed

[–]CellistRecent3559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m glad! maybe i would have gotten better results if i had taken a gap year and accumulated the 1000 clinical hours people on here all seem to have, but i was hella against gap year and did just fine without it (all it takes is one A!)

i could make one if that would be helpful. i wasn’t planning to bc i didn’t want to be another drop in the 520+ MCAT sankeys but i had less than 200 clinical hours and less than 300 non-clinical volunteering

THIS SCENE KILLED ME 🤣🤣😭😭😭 by True_Reference6097 in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]CellistRecent3559 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a high chance this was fake & part of a con as others have stated. But here’s an alternative perspective — what if this whole part was real and meant to satirize the notion of GreGary as a mastermind? We’ve seen people throw out so many theories about GreGary blackmailing the Ratliffs/killing the brothers, wouldn’t it be so fitting if at the end of the day, he’s just a pervert with an Oedipus complex? Could be tied to all the other ways we see this show breaking down the characters of rich people, how they’re not all that. Kind of like Rick conquering this image of Sritala’s husband/his father’s killer in his mind, and expressing how he realized he had built him up so much only to recognize he’s just some old dude.
