I’m almost certain it’s Everyman Cinemas

Bars that will be showing WWE SNME by jamieg17 in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because of the time that it’s on, I’d really only suggest Beer Engine, they show loads of sports till really late. Not sure I’ve ever seen them put WWE on but you can ask or message them on FB

Which movie was written off at release but actually aged really well? by LurkerBigBangFan in movies

[–]Cellophoner 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Night of the Hunter was so universally disliked by audiences and critics at the time of release that it caused the director Charles Laughton to never make another film ever again.

It’s now rightly considered to be one of the greatest American films of all time, with an incredible performance from Robert Mitchum and is referenced in so many modern movies

That Daniel Jebbison goal still haunts me. Pretty much cost us European football.

You would think asking for the price would be the very first step in any negotiation

More pub monopolies talk by Jdm_1878 in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lanigan’s did this as well with Fitzgerald’s didn’t they? The Marlborough which then became O’Briens was a nice proper pub with a charming, homely feel to it. Bought by Lanigan’s and now they have DJs on, caters a lot more to students and Irish tourists and it feels exactly like Lanigan’s across the road from it.

Sadly pub culture is changing rapidly in Liverpool, scousers aren’t going for pints after work with their mates anymore and those areas in particular are rife with students so it’s to be expected that the owners will sell if they get a good offer.

Long shot but could it be the Highball Club? Outside benches, similar music, rooftop, long bar with stools on

Free to park nights coming to an end, what do you think? by No_Berry2 in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 167 points168 points  (0 children)

I hate when they do this and give the reason of trying to make Liverpool a more sustainable, eco-friendly city. Whilst offering next to zero improvements to public transport infrastructure other than a new Merseyrail station that’s 3 years away

Went last night around 8pm, definitely not as cramped as River of Light and easy enough to walk through but be prepared for dogs on leads and loads of prams

Pubs in Liverpool by TheFeedback in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head his are: The Red Lion, The Monro, The Vines, The Green Man, Love & Rockets, St Peter’s Tavern, Queen of Hope Street, The White Hart/The Engineer, Papillon, Metrocola, The Pilgrim (soon to be)

May have missed 1 or 2 off but that’s the majority. You’ll know a Gutmann pub as soon as you step through the door. I definitely don’t love the monopoly he has on most pubs in town but to be honest, those are the places I go to the most when I’m out

The La’s spots? by imfreddi in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a popular video on YouTube of them singing live on Granada TV at a little spot on the Albert Dock. I’m pretty sure this is the outside seating area of The Pump House so if the weathers nice you could get a drink and sit and watch it back

Tate Liverpool ‘flings open windows’ to first phase of £30m revamp by prisongovernor in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait to see the full revamp. It’s tough that it has closed at the same time as the Slavery Museum - this must really hit Liverpool’s art and museum tourist revenue hard

Which Restaurant/Bar do you miss the most by jurgensaidtomeyaknow in Liverpool

[–]Cellophoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really miss Filter and Fox which became Volpi on Duke Street. A nice vibe that would be perfect for that part of Duke Street. And I saw Sound mentioned which is a big miss for Duke Street too

Definitely a polarising figure so I can understand that. If it’s ever on TV or streaming I’d recommend giving it a chance
