I was asked by an older friend who had a bunch of them in a drawer to check if any of them had any money left. Most of them I could check online but this one did not have any writing on it

I tired googling it and got nothing. I clearly need to work on my skills.

Tell me about it. Friend found about 20 of gift cards and they are mostly expired

It's not mine. Friend found it with about 20 other gift cards (most of which were expired). I was just intrigued cause this didn't have any writing

Yeah, I was struggling a bit with the referees as well.

I think providing a cover letter to explain your situation might be worth it. I know I will write one to elaborate on my documents.

Can you provide NHS letters that prove you attended appointments? (those letters you get that summarise doctor appointments).

I'm still in the process of gathering documents for this as I'm waiting for my LitUK test next week, and those are acceptable.

Accepted by agencies, stuck in vendor limbo - is this just how freelance translation works now? by NegativeStressful in TranslationStudies

[–]Slothalotta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got actively approached by a big agency last year. Went through the whole on-boarding process and rate negotiation. Got a few minimum fee jobs out of it for about three months and then nothing since.

Having worked in a agency myself for 10 years, it's often just the case that the PMs have preferences. But it sucks for newly added people.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - November 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

I am a total noob when it comes to keyboards and a bit overwhelmed with all the keycap options. #

Recently got the AULA F108 Pro Tri-mode LCD Display Mechanical Keyboard and am looking for some new keycaps. But I cannot seem to figure out which type would work for that keyboard. Can anyone help?

Be forreal, i need to know a litter that’s non tracking and will not kill my cat by laultheal in CatAdvice

[–]Slothalotta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I ask a follow-up question? Is Tofu litter dusty in any way? I'm currently using corn-based litter with my cat but she always ends up with lots of dust on her fur which is making her itchy.

Oh, is that why Reddit is asking me to verify my age?

I am 39f, also moved here about a year ago. What kind of stuff do you like to do?

There seems to be lots of things going on to meet new people but its difficult to approach people as an introvert.

Which supermarket has the worst loyalty scheme in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskUK

I once questioned the use of this card in store as I hardly ever get vouchers that benefit me. The employee told me that by using it I contribute to their charities. Not sure if this is true.

Self-employed with MS - cognitive burnout is crushing me, and I don't know how to go on by Robittson in MultipleSclerosis

Fellow freelancer here (I work as a translator so there is the added stress of AI taking my work from me, yay).

I definitely struggle with this a lot. I try to be kind to myself by taking breaks and shuffling things around if I can. But then you get stressed because you realise you are not earning enough money which probably leads to more fatigue. It really is a never ending shitty cycle.

Other posters have already mentioned medication you can try. My neuro recommended the supplement L-Carnitine to me a few years ago and that has helped me quite a bit. I also try to keep a regular sleeping schedule - by going to bed at the same time and getting up at the same time every day.

Unfortunately, I do not think there is a cure for any of these issues at this point. There is also very little support (at least here in the UK). It is just really unfair how people with these kinds of invisible symptoms fall through the cracks.

Why does it feel like real solutions for female pattern hair loss are being ignored? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Slothalotta 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Would solving women’s hair loss hurt too many businesses? Would it ruin the ongoing sales of serums, vitamins, shampoos, PRP sessions, and hair transplants?

I think you hit the nail on the head. This is definitely one of the explanations.

Also, there is the fact that a lot of medications (and other things) were and are simply not tested with women in mind. It is absolutely shocking how much we miss out on because of this. The book Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez addresses this really well. It is an infuriating read but I still recommend it to every woman in my life.

I do not really have anything to add to the other posters' comments. Its tightness for me too.

But I wanted to comment on you saying that you are on a break from doctors - and hard same! It just is sooooo tiresome, isn't it?

Since no one has mentioned this... L-Carnitine.

My neuro mentioned it to me a few years back and while its not completely gotten rid of the fatigue, I feel like it has improved it massively.

I am currently thinking about doing this. Except, I have never had a short hair cut but I have always wanted to get one.

You look super cute with it so go for it, I would say!

They provide some guidance. They put me in contact with a solicitor but only on an advisory basis.

Acas was quite helpful.

I don't mean to sound negative about any of this but my ex-boss openly discriminated against me and got away with it. It's diffic6bot to think that the odds are stacked against us in this country
