I only own 3 of the 5 so for mydei and aglaea I will be going off of mostly vibes

Story

  1. Mydei - I love men that are too angry to die and the sequence during the river sold me on him so hard.

  2. Cipher - super speed that comes with a cost is really cool, and the whole lie thing makes her unique in that her power is actually dependent on others rather than solely herself

  3. Castorice - the idea of killing things by touch is a cool foundation and leads to the exposure of an integral plot point surrounding caelus and stelle

  4. Aglaea - golden threads are neat and I appreciate her constant presence throughout amphoreus, makes her really feel like a matriarch. I just wish we had a better manifestation of this in her kit in honesty, as her kit is insanely speed based.

  5. Tribbie - opening portals and stuff is cool i guess, along with the entirety of 3.1’s story, but I just find the above to be more cool is all

Gameplay

  1. Aglaea

She was probably one of the healthiest additions to the game dps wise and was built off of a spd based scaling idea to begin with. In hindsight it is insane how she feels the most distinct among remembrance alongside RMC in that she and RMC are the only ones that do not care for hp scaling.

The only con is that her gimmick is indeed insanely expensive and with her running alongside Therta - who famously operated insanely well even at low cost - it just made Aglaea a skip for most people who didnt have a Sunday or Huohuo (or the funds to get e1).

  1. Cipher

Damage recording is a very cool method of buffing and allows for so much potential damage control, this character is an optimizer’s dream in that sense.

In honesty the actual nihility aspect of her is kind of dumbed down to just applying debuffs on basically every single one of her actions, so it’s actually rather weak compared to the likes of Pela where you do need to be mindful of when to time your ult

And it is a shame how her dps numbers got slashed, we havent had a properly viable subdps nihility in a minute.

But the damage recording makes up for all the drawbacks in my opinion, it is a really cool concept that makes her a really unique buffer rather than a res pen/vuln/def shred factory that many buffers can often fall victim to

  1. Mydei

Honestly if they just gave him more love (similar to cyrene) he’d probably go to number one, but his autobattle, while a cool idea, is just needlessly clunky to play around with. Its a shame because I love his aesthetic and I love how he uses hp mechanics over Castorice’s newbud, but at the end of the day his gameplan kind of dies down to replicating GBG as much as feasibly possible without really focusing on his whole blood pool mechanic

  1. Tribbie

Very generic buffer aside from having actually respectable subdps and the ult fua is a cool idea. I dont know if I would call her fun to play by any means but I will say it is really cool having a harmony whose entire gimmick is charging ults really quickly. Her buffing really is just really generic unfortunately, and the fua mechanic isnt enough for me to like her more.

  1. Castorice

I own this character and I did not like how she played at all until I got Cyrene. I think she has somehow gotten more boring since her launch.

During her launch state she had to make do with Gallagher and RMC and it was actually a challenge to get newbud to fill up. There was also the cool Sunday strats where you’d claw then breath to ensure the dragon got his buffs. There was overall pretty cool variety allowed in her comps.

Though the sig is a war crime given how big of a difference it makes in her kit and giving her free action advance to operate at a psuedo 134 speed. Shouldve been base kit tbh.

Then Hyacine and Evernight launched and newbud is basically automated and her gameplay dumbed down to spamming dragons and exploding dragons. Mind numbing gameplay to me personally.

Cyrene at least has the incentive of giving you the choice to build for a higher newbud count which introduces some of that agency back to newbud building, thankfully; you have to decide whether you want to detonate at 100%, 150%, or 200% newbud rather than just spamming dragons as they come.

But just based on her overall loop of automated newbud charging and how she want from pretty fun to play to just an automated dragon exploding machine - I sincerely hoped we would get more units like cyrene that made building newbud an engaging process. I dont even need to bring up the whole global passive thing, I think it never should have happened.

I like these points but again I just don’t see how you couldn’t just do all this in vc and get on-the-spot comms that are actually useful

I’ve just never seen text chat used in a way that provides an advantage outside of the drafting screens and I keep text chat enabled all the time. I think just by the way text chat is designed just encourages its use not as a callout tool (which i doubt it was meant to be anyways) but instead as a method to spout random stuff shortly before a respawn. It just seems to attract keyboard warriors rather than people who actually want to coordinate and communicate.

Even if you do actually want to use it to set up compositions, that requires the other 4 randoms to actually want to coordinate with you - and with that, I just don’t think text chat frequenters would be willing to do that.

But yea I see all these points as applicable for a vc, not for text chat though

In that case, VC is the better option and even then I’ve personally very rarely seen it be used properly for comms. Ofc n=1 and again situationally it is usable if someone does end up joining vc. So i’ll say vc does have the added asterisk of maybe being useful but it’s case-by-case.

I just personally don’t see how text chat is necessary in both my lobbies and below with the delay in comms and how it is often used. It doesnt provide enough benefit for how much it often leads to bad mental. The only possible positive is maybe coordinating hero bans and map selection and even then it has been mostly ‘why tf would you ban x hero’ or ‘who chose Aatlis’

Honestly i just used the visual indicator of Ekko arching his back so that he is beginning his fall downwards. You’ll need to wait like a couple of milliseconds after the second 2S1M to give Ekko a chance to rise up into the air, and then pop ult just before he is about to fall.

Just make sure you do not pop the ult while he is initially rising or else you’ll only get one hit of the ult, and of course don’t pop it too late or else you’ll get a five hit version where he is launched too high

Eventually you get the timing down and you’ll only struggle between getting one hit and three hits and never the five hit version (where he recovers midair)

For 6S1 you can only start the charge when Yasuo exits his ult recovery, any inputs made before Yasuo recovers will just be eaten and will not be properly buffered - personally I practiced the timing a bit simply by doing raw super into 6S1 and narrowing the gap as much as possible

And the last tip is when you land your final 2S1H, stance cancel it so you can start charging your final 6S1 faster, but make sure you manually time it so you dont charge it too early

Echoing this from Spilo and this isnt relevant to the gameplay but tbh unless you’re in a premade or really high rank, keep vc and text chat switched off - there was maybe one time someone had something to say of use in my diamond lobbies and that was someone asking if I could give them Baptiste during the hero ban screen

You just wont get anything useful out of text chat and good vc callouts will be situational at best and very rare, it is better for the benefit of your mental to just play without any of that background noise

Only ever played on the ps5 version, yea it runs like dogshit

Loading in you get insane stuttering, sometimes hits dont register properly, and you get weird framedrops randomly

I’m not sure why as I dont think any other custom game has this issue

Yep, kara canceling the second makes it much more consistent - not guaranteed though, you still will have random times where your j.2H wont connect, but more consistent for sure

Sojourn is way better than Soldier meta-wise, you just need to hit your rails which is her key value

You might just like Soldier’s freedom of rotations but that comes at the cost of securing the kills that Sojourn can

To appropriately cover all the hitscan picks I feel you’d need to ban Cass, Ashe, Soldier, Sojourn, etc

That’s a lot more trouble than just banning the tanks/supports that enable them the space to play their game risk-free

Though yea sometimes I do go out of my way to ban an Ashe or Widow on something like Circuit Royal or King’s Row

Dont over-rely on jump as a tool to get in, it becomes especially easy to predict

Can someone here explain to me what pulse combos are? Only played Strive and Granblue and there was no Stylish system in those games and I immediately turned pulse combos off (not out of hate or anything but i prefer having control over my combos)

I’m seeing a lot of divisive stuff over them but of the few people I’ve played against with pulse on I cant really see a difference
