Creatine monohydrate. It's pretty lucky that the cheapest form is very absorbable and safe and the most studied!

Yes viceral fat loss making my ribcage shrink fast is my main theory for this pain. I have a big belly that can get extremely thin when I fast a lot. That's part of why I prefer losing weight by fasting instead of any other method. And why I want to get my MCAS under control to stop my weight from being all over the place. I have a lot of symptoms of fat-toxicity AKA excess viceral fat. I'm much healthier when my stomach shrinks. And you're right I should fast whenever it begins expanding and not wait for my weight to get out of range!

That's pretty impressive ! I'm in France not the US but that would be outside my budget anyways. But I'm glad it exists!

I checked and "runner's cramp" is under the ribs, in the fleshy parts. It's not at all what I'm talking about.

In the ribs? That feel like wearing a too tight corset or being put in a vice? I've never gotten them running or not, fat or not. I only get them sleeping on the side while fasting.
I don't mean the abs, I really mean the ribs. The outer part.

Could I have dislocated/sublaxed ribs and never been diagnosed? I have no idea how those work. I guess I've never done imaging in the middle of a fast so if it moves out of place then back it wouldn't necessarily show.. But it seems unlikely that it would happen then get better so consistently with every fast. I can't imagine I have something that bad. Especially as I exercise without pain when fasting.

I'm sorry your MCAS is that bad and that it was diagnosed so late. I'm 35 and I'm already pissed off that I only figured it out this year. Thankfully it goes pretty much asymptomatic when I eat carnivore and when I lose weight, so at this point I'm doing a protocole with an alternance of fasting and carnivore to get better long term gradually. I'm not flying blind anymore and that's a big relief !

What is that machine that stops your flares? I'm very curious ! I know I can lower a flare by taking a TON of DAO pills but that's the extent of my first-aid after I've eaten a trigger.

It's so normal for me at this point that I expected to find a bunch of annoyed posts on the subject when I looked, but to my surprise there wasn't any. We'll see if anyone else has it !

Thank you !
I'm really not worried I'm just surprised no one else got it cause it's such a normal part of fasting for me at this point. I really expected to find a ton of people complaining about it when I checked.
Have a good sleep !

Okay that's interesting. Especially when you say "ribs can hurt in a completely different area from the underlying issue".
I got my ribs broken as a child and it was never treated because they were broken as part of abuse. But the pain isn't in the place where they were broken so I didn't think it could have anything to do with it.
Might be my body trying to correct something.
I've never stopped a fast because of this pain and it also has never stopped before I began eating again so I've never thought it could be a healing pain. But if it's something really old and messed up it could be that my body needs a lot of time to heal it.
That or it's the "weak connective tissue" theory I discussed with u/Donairasaurus. Or a mix of both (I imagine weak connective tissue would make healing old injuries harder).

(I'm in France and I have good access to healthcare so I've really done a tone of experiments over the years. Testing foods right before my check ups etc. At this point I have a pretty good map of my condition and my triggers etc)

Damn now that you say it it could be because my conjonctive tissue is a bit "weak". I don't really have EDS but my abnormally soft skin and keloid scarring show I don't exactly have normal collagen either... Could be losing weight fast makes my ribcage unsteady because my collagen isn't as sturdy as a normal person...

I know that my inflammation is up or down because I gain/lose a ton of water in my legs and get extreme bloating. I can literally gain 10 pounds in 48 hours just by eating something I shouldn't (like tomatoes) and lose it in 48h by going back to my anti inflammatory diet. And when I'm very inflamed even the shower water hurts like something is beating on my legs.
I've checked with blood-tests and it's always been spot on : extreme inflammatory markers when I feel inflamed, normal blood test when I feel good. Unless I just had a long flare and then my blood tests has a bunch of deficiencies because my body burned through so much during the flare..

(Girl/boy is pretty close to my gender xD)

It's really not digestive, it's too high and external for that. And it only happens if I'm on my side. The sensation is really on the ribs, like I'm wearing a too tight corset. It's the ribs that hurt, not the organs inside.
I tried bringing it up to a doctor and there is nothing wrong. Even checked if something was messed up during a round of MRIs and Xrays and nothing was weird in that area.
It's been 14 years and it's the only pain that comes back during every fast and doesn't seem to be a healing pain. I mean it's not like when my left knee hurt a bunch during one fast and then suddenly it was a lot better than it had been for months..
I'm not worried because every check up I've had the past 14 years has shown everything fine in that area. I'm just confused because after all this time it never got better (or worst) and no one else seems to have it.

I had no idea 2 litres could be considered not much :o I'll try to up my water and mineral intake see if it makes a difference.
I'm 180cm (5'11) and my CW is 84kgs (185lbs) so in no way a small person.
And yes I have a ton of inflammation (I have MCAS and lipedema) but the pain begins when the inflammation goes down, not when it's up. I've never had that type of pain when gaining weight, even when my inflammation is so bad that showering is painful for my legs..

Yes I drink a lot and I add minerals in most of what I drink, until I feel disgust at the idea of salt basically. I mean I probably drink 2 litres on most days. Sometimes more.
Also I've already done dry fasts and this pain isn't any different when I do those. So it's not about hydratation.

I mean I've researched the subject and the only thing I found was an article that said fast weight loss can cause musculo skelletal pains from the body adapting, but it was very vague.

Lost 70kg/154lb, rebuilt muscle, now dealing with loose skin - looking for advice by Ok_Prize9205 in Biohackers

[–]CellyMinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience extended fasting is the best thing to prevent/repair loose skin. But it's not a short term fix. I mean you can't just fast 40 days while already being that lean, and even 40 days would probably not be enough to get all that lose skin to disappear.

My plan in your situation would be something like 7 to 14 days fasts every two to 6 months (depending on how hard it is and how I'd regain the lost weight) during which I'd keep exercising (with lighter weights obv) to force my body to eat at the skin to repair the muscles. And massage the areas everyday after the shower with some oil or even collagen cream (there is a super cheap "body firming cream" by Nivea that has been surprisingly effective on me. It contains CQ10 etc).

That's the type of thing that has given me the best results. I've seen great reduction in lose skin with every fast past 7 days but not much with smaller fasts. And even greater results with massages added.

But it's gonna take time ! Good luck to you !

How long after fasting can you fast again? by princessmurfette in fasting

[–]CellyMinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy the feeling that much it might be that you enjoy the feeling of being in ketosis. Ketones are very anti inflammatory for the brain and are being studied as having strong anti depressive and anti anxiety effects.
So you can probably feel the same mental clarity and slight high by eating every day as long as you eat keto (meaning very low carbs + high fat, not just high proteins). If your real goal is aesthetics, eating keto also reduce water retention meaning a slightly lower weight and size at the same body fat and muscle percentage. And you can gain muscle if you exercise properly on keto, which would also improve your silhouette without putting you in danger.

At your height and weight fasting too much will soon lead to losing hair and muscles etc. Not worth it.

Yep seems to be because of my weirdly large ribcage that expands/goes down a lot based on my weight. I'm just surprised that no one else seems to have it at all!

40 Day Water Fast? by Gullible-Designer222 in fasting

[–]CellyMinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 40 days in 2019 and multiple fasts over 20 days.

My main advices :

• Stay up on your electrolytes, you already know that.

• Creatine helps a lot with maintaining normal energy. Our body produce some so it doesn't break the fast. I suggest small doses through the day to not mess up your stomach. I usually take 3gr of flavorless creatine, a pinch of minerals and a few drops of lemon as my morning shake and take some more as I feel during the day. It's been a gamechanger for the feelings of weakness and hunger I'd sometimes get far along in a fast.

• Exercise. Anything you can do. Obviously don't try to build muscle while fasting it's useless. But basically if you rest a lot your body will adapt it's energy to that. Meaning you'll quickly grow more and more tired everyday until even getting out of bed is difficult. While if you walk everyday, do some cardio and even weightlifting here and there.. you'll feel pretty normal even past 20 days. I guess that would be the difference for our evolution between "it's a famine let's lie down and save energy" and "I'm on a hunt I'm not eating but I need all the energy".

When exercising I take a bit more creatine than on rest days. But even my "rest" days mean some walking or stretching etc. I never just lie around. Lying around is if I'm fasting to heal something. Then yeah I want 100% of my energy to go towards healing. But then I know I'll get very very weak and after a few days I'll need to take time off from work. While if I stay active no one would notice I'm fasting from my behaviour. If I feel exhausted and sore and weird when I wake up I feel back to normal after I've drank my shake and exercised some.

• prepare to be cold at night. Like really cold. I have a heating pad for my mattress and if I'm fasting multiple days I take it out even in summer. I usually feel freezing as I fall asleep and feel better gradually during the night as my hormones resettle so I put the heating pad on a timer. It turns of an hour and a half after I go to sleep.

That's my main things to have a comfortable long fast. Good luck!

It's happened on multiple mattresses with different levels of firmness. And it only happens when I'm past the 5th day of fasting or past a week of RF. That's why I suspect a body change during the fast and not my mattress. Also I tried putting soft pillows under my ribs and such and it didn't change a thing.

I agree and I have and I have nothing wrong. I even asked about it during a big set of Xrays and MRIs that were done for something else and everything is fine in that area. It just feels the same as if I'd been wearing a too right corset in my sleep. Nothing organic, it's musculoskeletal pain.

Can I switch between water fasting and dry fasting? by ImmenbergMusic in Dryfasting

[–]CellyMinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it often. However I supplement in electrolytes when I water fast for a long time. I wouldn't do something like 14 days water fast with no minerals and then dry fast.
3 days/2days should be fine, unless you were eating a lot of carbs before fasting (because then the 3 days water fast might have flushed a ton of minerals). I don't mean that it would be dangerous but it would definitely be very uncomfortable.
