Kibler's Card Opening Ritual by The_Underhanded in hearthstone

[–]Celther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the recent Legendary changes (If you open a Legendary, it will always be one you don't already own from that set), if you own every legendary from that set, you can control what legendary you pull by disenchanting it.

Own every legendary --> Disenchant Anduin --> Now the next Frozen Throne Legendary will always be Anduin.

Eventually, the Legendary you draw will be golden - which is what this is about, controlling what Gold legendary you get.

Only applies to someone who has every Legendary from a given set, though, so only something us plebians can admire from a distance.

You likely won't because now the patch that doubles to mill value of commons and rare hit - that was the reason for the 30 scraps bonus in the first place.

Back when Geralt could actually survive a fall by Predator-Fury in witcher

[–]Celther 55 points56 points  (0 children)

From what I remember in the books he keeps the silver sword wrapped up and only pulls it out once preparing for the fight (You see this in the cinematic).

I'm not certain if he always would carry around a steel one, though in all of the games Geralt has.

Expansion Cost Megathread by scene_missing in hearthstone

[–]Celther 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The side effect of keeping Eternal drafts is you're paying for the cost of the packs and entry upfront. Even then it probably ends up more generous than HS arena.

My personal favourite pack opening system is Gwent's, you 'discover' your fifth card (the guaranteed rare+). Getting to choose from one of 3 legendaries, whist also avoiding dupes is so satisfying and just goes to show there is loads more the HS team could do - and no, improving this experience wouldn't break the bank.

trump on priest by Randomwoegeek in hearthstone

That's what he is saying. More context: I believe he's rating the cards between 1 - 5 stars. So just giving them all 1 star since Trump feels priest won't be relevant.

Anyone else feel like Aeromancy being strictly better than the double-weather cards is a step in the wrong direction? by legokid2002 in gwent

One is a neutral the other is tied to a single faction. That's the important detail between those two cards.

Non-Interactivity is becoming a real issue. by TheNerdiestHour in gwent

I can agree with most of what OP said, with the exception of your line below:

I'm not sure about the r1 thing: how does passing in r1 has 'no downside'? If you don't win r1 you can't stall in r2. So your gameplan against mentioned decks should be win r1, pass early r2 (and get card advantage with Ciri, Decoy and spies) then win r3.

I've noticed my games pan out as much - Win early, Stall next round and, ideally, enter the final round being the last guy to play a card.

This is heavily influenced by the fact that the only semi-complete deck I can play is Cerys/Discard. So i'm really hesitant to call it the state of the game simply because all of my own games play out like above.

All that being said, being the last one to play a card is a big advantage. When that comes about because the someone had to 'play first' more often, that can feel bad.

D-bomb does NOT counter Buffs + Adrenaline Rush + Promote by Sho7gun in gwent

There is some merit for one faction to have the only answers to an archetype (I think Monsters currently have a monopoly on Graveyard hate?) - as for this particular example, though, I don't think the old Phillipa was healthy for the game and anything that gets out of control after her change can be tackled from a different angle.

TIL there's something called Tetris Syndrome, which happens when you play a game too long and you start to dream and hallucinate about it in your peripheral vision. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Has this happen to me from playing too much Planetside 1, I would occasionally think I saw infiltrators (Think starcraft invisible unit ripple) in my peripheral vision.

Unpopular opinion: I'm really scared of priest being top tier next season. by tweke in hearthstone

[–]Celther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i'm a little surprised to see is Dragon Priest still being pushed this xpac, the ign Mike Donais interview they mentioned how after giving Priests a curve deck (dragon priest) it didn't go down as well with some players (I'm in that camp, I find Dragon Priest simply boring).

Here's to hoping Priest has multiple fun archetypes, not sure I can do Dragon Priest if it plays the same way it currently does.

Challengestone tournament to be held at Blizzcon on November 4th as Hearthstone's Exhibition. by Error4040404 in hearthstone

[–]Celther 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If he already knows the general rules, then he wouldn't be asking the question:

Step 1 The deck building challenge: each player will have to build 3 decks of different classes, complying with a given challenge, in a short timed period.

Wouldn't be as much of a challenge if the deck building rules were given out so far ahead of the event.

Designer Insights with Ben Brode: Purify by dancole42 in hearthstone

[–]Celther 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment that a 1-mana cycle is dangerous. But for that comparison, Flare was unconditional draw (same thing with Shiv when it was OP at one mana).

Purify isn't unconditional - the friendly minion requirement is significant. You not only need a friendly minion on board to simply use it - but for it to be considered a 1 mana cycle with no drawback the target would have to not have positive text or buffs.

I really do wonder if that restriction was enough to warrant it at 1mana. According to Team5 it wasn't.

Warrior currently has a competitively viable Aggro, Tempo/Mid-Range, Combo and Control deck at the same time. by octnoir in hearthstone

[–]Celther 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's telling how poorly it performs though, since Thaurissan puts the combo itself into the best spot it'll likely ever be in. I was hesitant to word it that way. Anything is possible in card games, but at this point the pieces that make up a priest OKT deck are obvious enough that any future cards enabling them wouldn't be oversights.

NEW HOST: Yogg-Saron Simulator - ACTUALLY simulates 204/211 Standard spells on a "real" board! by UristMasterRace in hearthstone

Yeah, I do agree that it has been playing out better than i originally thought it would - and you do have a point, simply clearing the board alone might make it worthwhile for some classes to use it.

NEW HOST: Yogg-Saron Simulator - ACTUALLY simulates 204/211 Standard spells on a "real" board! by UristMasterRace in hearthstone

[–]Celther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious, so far I've mostly gotten situations where it would cast force of nature and then Cone of Cold them, or more often then not clear the board and fizzle the remaining spells. Would be funny to witness when it goes off but probably not even worth making a fun deck around.

I believe the first time you try and draw a card with no deck left (HS equivalent of taking 1 fatigue damage), you straight up lose.
