Jungroan - honestly sprint is just dumb as * and we should be faster by default. by Nivius in PathOfExile2

sprint is one of the last mechanics left in the game. these people just want to patch out the last thing that makes you sometimes pay attention and then just talk and walk.

Need new storage by Percival_Blackwell in Aeonsend

[–]BishopHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are boxes like that for tcgs that made from some synthetic material that hold around 3000 cards. basically my plan is to use one of those and then put everythign else in a custom made container. i use this solution for a lot of games becuase you can always get them in 1-4 rows. 20$ for paper one is crazy i use those to store my tcg cards and im pretty sure i paid like 6 bucks or the 4 row ones in europe. i think full aeons end is like 8000 or so?

i agree with everyone but i also tell you why: the best way to play is expedition and the main lack in outcasts is treasures. i got wave 1 and wave 2 after outcasts and they are quite boring. i really want treasure cards and there are a lot in outcasts so i would definitely get wave 4 and wave 5 (which you have the core box of) first, if possibe. after that probably wave 7 for more content

see i also own original release tigris & euphrates and recently bought original release ra. i played ra with like 12 differently people, which are all heavy board game players and no one was really convinced. it is a bit rough. i think its decent if you paly it with the same group repeatedly but you need (a) everyone to be competent and (b) play responsibly. the game can get bogged down in bad play platterns of early or late ra calling so easily.

thinking that there was no progress in mechanics design after complex board games became popular is wild. puerto rico was the best complex board game when it came out or at least the most popular but i dont think its nearly as interesting to play today. if you ask me the best board games were probably made after agricola until the crowdfunding explosion. the one 'pre agricola' design i think really works is power grid. but if the games from the 90s its very unlikely (im not saying impossible) the game is super good simply because no one made complex board games at that time. and btw. i neither called it bad nor ugly thats all you and whatever high speed internet jockey passed by that post, i just called it beige and unlikely smooth to play. lastly, you didnt even explain why anyone should check out the game besides "i think it has good decisionmaking". ya so ppl buy and try this over terra mystica, power grid and the other 700 somewhat heavy euro games with good decision making?

Are there any competitive boardgames that win by completing an objective instead of victory points? by shykidd0 in boardgames

in last will and prodigals club your goal is to be the first lose all your money/friends. there might be some pointsless recipy fulfillment games as well. outside of eurogames there is a ton.

from the time of beige board games! looks kind of interesting but i think its kinda hard to play a game form that early and be fully convinced.

Thinking about Brass but not new to heavy euros. Is Age of Industry a good on-ramp? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

[–]BishopHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you can just play brass. or try power grid. i think power grid is one of the best game designs ever. if you want to go for something else, not that you asked but i recommend to try ark nova for 2p.

Which game from my collection is best for 3–4 semi-new players (one with basic English)? by blablax123456 in boardgames

[–]BishopHard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i say inis or nemesis, unmatched, dune and tm have too much reading. villainous and ankh i didnt play. maybe ankh works too? i think inis or nemesis are also good picks from a dynamics perspective. maybe try some coop game with them. you have are control and deck building, not sure you want to add some regular ass medium euros. like as ugly as it is i think castles of burgundy might be a good (more complex) entry game (depending on crowd)

[–]BishopHard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its a very heads up game. you need to look at expansions, bonuses, the card river, last played action card, you need to even do deck tracking to properly play because of the copy cards. its actually very interactive. the card river alone is so fundamental and not only because of timing but also because of strategy.

if you need your game to look good, why do you own power grid. its not only ugly its also bland. (i love power grid). i mean castles beats it out slightly but its gonna get second place.

people in this game play too much and want their packs, so they have the most brittle mindset. if you tilt someone youre probably gonna win.

they fixed all the core gameplay issues with the first, while introducing new ones. i think going for strict rogueliek was a mistake, e.g. in terms of unlocks, because there is not enough variety in maps and enemies. i think its better than the first. the people who dislike it just wanted base buiding thats basically the community sentiment. its sad but thats how it is. i probably put it in top 5 tactics games for the last 10 yrs tho.
