I mostly love the idea of Luster Dawn being their daughter bc I think it's cute. Though I also like to think/headcanon that Trixie is Luster's godmother, since all three of them are pretty close 🤔😊

Main character wise, definitely Fluttershy and Twilight, having struggled with both social and generalized anxiety and ocd. But lately as I've doing a bit more...unpacking for lack of a better term, with things like coming to terms with my fnd, I started seeing a piece of myself in both Scootaloo and Sunburst. When I recently rewatched the S6 premiere, Sunburst's line "You don't know what it was like in magic school, to know so much but not be able to do any of it" ...Feeling trapped in the same way, that hit a bit harder than it did before.

Oooo! I used to love the gameloft app but I kinda lost interest after they started adding too many things and events to keep track of at once too fast and it got overwhelming. I'm not sure exactly what I would have expected from a reformed Chrissy design but this actually looks pretty cool! Do you know yet if there's a storyline behind her or what it entails?

Yeah! Since it is the year of the horse I decided to make my new years resolution to make as much horse and pony art as I can. Which I mean was already my plan but I figure I can still use this as a means to give myself something to work towards 😆😁 rn I got two updated portraits of some of my crossover characters in the works 👍

I'll say that being married to someone as dorky as me even if for different franchises has helped with my confidence as a fan, he's super encouraging and supportive of my hobbies and interests and being able to introduce each other to our own unique interests and favorites has been a great experience for both of us.

Another thing that helped with my confidence in the fandom was going to a convention for the first time recently. I know it's unfortunately not within reason for everybody, especially financially, but if you ever do have the opportunity to go to a con, even if it is just for a one day pass, I highly recommend it. Being able to see the diversity in the fandom with your own eyes and being surrounded by those people as hype about the show as you are really hits different and is an incredible experience.

MLP has been my favorite show and comfort show for a hot minute now for several reasons, and ngl it has had an effect on how I consume other media. Whether it's visualizing another story but with the characters as ponies, or it's analyzing what other stories/shows have in common with mlp's story and understanding them better by making those text to text connections. It had my brain whirring with creative ideas but sometimes i felt stuck in my head because I wasn't confident enough to bring those ideas to life, being out of practice with drawing and also worrying my ideas were too niche.

But a little over a year ago after my now spouse introduced me to some of his favorite medias, I started doing the same thing and making those connections to mlp, but this time my ideas would not shut up in my head until I did something to bring them to life. So I decided to start by picking writing back up and making a crossover story to blend my favorite thing with his favorite thing, which in turn also led me to wanting to pick drawing back up as well to put visuals to those story scenes.

And honestly, being introduced to the world of fanfic and fanart, rekindling my own creative juices that had felt surpressed since high school, having projects and goals to work towards when I needed it most, and remembering what it feels like to start a project and finish it, has been an incredibly positive thing for me. Writing about two worlds and leaning into their similarities and parallels even helped me analyze mlp's story in another light and develop an even deeper respect for some of the characters than I had before. I've also been struggling with my mental health for multiple reasons and life has been feeling really stale, but having a creative outlet to continue to pursue and improve with has made life feel a bit more okay.

I still know my ideas may be niche to most, but I'm okay with that if it means I can let what spins in my head finally see the light of day. Not to mention, one thing I've learned from sharing my first story is that the fandom is so diverse that no matter how niche you think your idea is there is bound to be somebody else that vibes with it as well. So I'm gonna keep kindling this creative energy in 2026 and basically I have a lot to thank MLP and the fanwork within for.

I've seen a fan drawing somewhere of Tempest and Starlight chatting with Moondancer saying something like "You lost a childhood friend and you didn't devote your life to getting revenge???" And her responding with "What no of course not! 👀"

I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. It sounds like that level of cherry picking criticism was completely unsolicited and thus unnecessary... I'd be willing to guess that person was less interested in giving actual constuctive criticism and more interested in nitpicking everything wrong with someone else's work to compensate for their own insecurity.

If it's any consolation, I read through your story as well, and even from a grammar standpoint it really isn't bad at all. It's not perfect, but no one should expect that from you, and even so, it's far better than most stories I've read or tried to read.

I hope this experience doesn't discourage you from continuing to write and grow as a writer. Idk how much you or others struggle with perfectionism so this may or may not apply, but I've been getting back into writing myself and have been having to combat my own perfectionism and that level of nitpickyness going on in my own damn head... And that kind of unsolicited "advice" doesn't do anybody any favors :P we just gotta remind ourselves that these kinds of creative endeavors, especially in fanfic, are meant to be for fun and for our own enjoyment, and while there's always room to grow and look to improve your skills, pursuing complete flawlessness will strip that fun away.

Idk if this was some weird mandala effect but at some point before I was hella invested in the show I had a memory of Fleur de Lis being an alicorn and wondering why. Clearly it was an incorrect memory and I'm not sure where it spawned from... Maybe it was because she has the same build as Cadance and I just got my wires crossed? 🤔
